Nice Tahoe Getaway
This cabin was perfect for our Lake Tahoe weekend. We took advantage of the wood stove during our stay! Fallen Leaf Lake is beautiful and another thing worth doing while visiting Tahoe.

Great little gem
The property was just as describe in the listing. We had an issue while there and the owner came up and handled it the best we could have expected. He responded quickly when I contacted him initially as well. My girls loved the kayaks and swimming in fallen leaf lake. It was great to have a place away from the crowds to enjoy. We are looking forward to going back and trying out some of the water toys we didn’t get to. We arrived at night and were able to find the place in the dark as it was marked well. There are also a number of hikes very close to the cabin that are not too popular and beautiful. My kids stayed on the couches and said they were comfortable. If you have a clear night make a point of heading down to the dock to look at the stars, gorgeous! There are so many fewer lights here than even in town, so it is spectacular.

Crowded
Access to the lake is a hike and down a steep bank to a small dock - no beach. Owner was camped in front yard. On site were his camper and two trucks. The front deck is unstable and few windows open for heat relief on the inside. The TV is CD only and there is minimal kitchen equipment. We left after the first night of a five night stay. Owner refused refund of any kind.

These people approached me about 6 hours after checking in implying they were NOT happy. Why? 1)They thought the water access was closer, while in the description clearly states the dock is a 400 yard walk, 2) It's hot inside the cabin. There is NO MENTION of a BEACH or access to a beach in the property description. The dock happens to be the largest dock on Fallen Leaf Lake with a with 12 slips (other than the marina at the south end). We have a 22 foot Airstream parked on our property, exclusively for our use. So far this season we've stayed a few weekends in the Airstream. We have ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room and two portable high speed fans and brand new casement windows that open the full dimensions of the window frames. For anyone who reads this review, keep in mind VERY FEW homes in the Tahoe Basin have central air conditioning, with overnight lows consistently in the 50's who needs it. I count 8 lies in this review: 1) lake access is down a steep hill 2) small dock- the largest dock on Fallen Leaf Lake 3) beach- as I DO NOT ADVERTISE A BEACH 4) Front deck is unstable- IT IS ROCK SOLID 5) few windows open- new casement windows 6) minimal kitchen equipment- READ our OTHER REVIEWS 7)"We left after the first night"-I was at Fallen Leaf on the fourth night of their stay and they were still at the cabin 8) "Owner refused refund of any kind"-THEY DID NOT ASK FOR A REFUND, they simple complained and stated "we will be leaving the next morning". Our reviews speak volumes of what our cabin really is, please read them.

Very convenient location to Fallen Leaf Lake
My daughter was working on the lake so we were looking for a place nearby to her. The location was perfect for that. The owner, Jim, is very responsive, helpful and kind. The house has all the amenities you expect from a Vrbo - full kitchen, extra sheets and towels, etc. You can tell that Jim really cares about the house and property. The bed is comfortable, the water pressure and hot water good, etc. I would definitely stay here again if I wanted to be near Fallen Leaf Lake (which is spectacular). Amazing hikes, beautiful water, etc. A few notes - the pictures are accurate. As others have said, the house is clean but it is a bit dimly lit which I am not used to. And others have mentioned ventilation - they did make the doors so they could open but they don't have screens so in the summer I still only opened the kitchen and bathroom windows, which have screens. It was fine when we were there, but adding screens would be really nice. The dock is a communal one a few hundred yards down the road and then down a trail. We didn't use it because my daughter is on crutches. So it takes some effort to get there but it is very nice to have access to the lake.

Fallen Leaf Cabin
Great find. Had a wonderful experience. The property owner was friendly and transparent. A couple of recommendations would be to get blinds/curtains on the living room and kitchen windows. And a larger refrigerator and stove. Overall, this place was great and I would recommend.

The cabin has a very convenient location near Fallen Leaf Lake and several trails, has everything to spend time indoors. The road is a bit bumpy, but still doable with a compact car.

Wonderful!
Such a quaint little cabin, it was just like it was described. We watched sunset from the community dock each night. Such a relaxing get away! The host was awesome! We would definitally stay here again!

Fantastic cabin, small but cozy
It's just my wife and me, this cabin is perfect. The living room is quite large, kitchen is fine. Very short walk to common dock, where we would hang out with wine/cheese/bread while watching the sun set over the mountains.

Cute getaway on a lake
Loved this cute cottage with wonderfully eclectic decorations! Made my heart smile. Kitchen is small but very functional. Hosts are generous and provide well for their guests - movies, first aid supplies, teas, water toys, everything you might need to keep warm. More ventilation in the heat of summer would be desirable. Host has noted this is work he intends to do. I missed the host's last communication on my arrival day and thus did not find the wifi network, but I was happily out of touch.

Thank You David, front and back exterior screen doors have been on my mind from the day I closed escrow, but within the last month I have been in conversation with Sierra Pacific for some nice cedar screen doors and new casement windows (YEAH all three). You may have noticed the huge front windows in both the bedroom and living area were sliding doors, that have been permanently closed, these are also slated for replacement. Our barrier on the large sliding glass doors would the price of high, or at least good, quality sliding doors of that size. If you have not priced them lately, I think you would be very surprised. Great location - no telephone
The property is very rustic but as advertised. The only complaint is the internet and lack of phone. It was impossible to communicate w/ the outside world. The internet was unsecured and spotty at best. There is no cell signal at the lack and no land line. There is a paid wifi signal at the Marina but does not reach the cabin. I would not stay again unless there was significant telecommunication upgrades. I gave 3 stars on communication with property manager only because there was no way to communicate w/ him.

Ideal location on Fallen Leaf Lake
This is a beautiful property just across the street from Fallen Leaf Lake. It is a small cabin with all the necessary amenities such as hot shower, microwave, oven, refrigerator, kitchenware and fans for every room. WiFi is a little weak but adequate. There are several mature trees on the property and a nice hammock. It’s down the street from the local marina where you can rent kayaks to explore the lake. The Glen Alpine trailhead is also down the street, which is a gateway to the spectacular Desolation Wilderness. I personally recommend the hike to Susie Lake. Our family (2 adults and 2 kids 6 & 10 yrs old) spent 7 nights here and we had plenty to do (hiking, road biking, kayaking and swimming). Highly recommended.

Great small lake area
We had a great time... Comfortable bed, 2 large couches, and a cozy kitchen (open concept) to the living room. Some rehab in progress while we were there (kayak dock under renovation), but other than that, everything was as seen in advertisement. Note: owner did warn us about the delays with work on the dock, long before cancellation options expired. If your looking for a quiet place to sleep, while you enjoy Fallen Leaf Lake, then you can't get a better bang for you buck.

Great place to relax
Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It made a great home base in between excursions into Desolation Wilderness, visiting the beach, and kayaking in the lake. We especially appreciated the ability to cook our own meals in the kitchen and keep our distance from the South Lake Tahoe crowds. Jim (the host) was kind and responsive to our questions. The HOA dock is currently closed for construction, but we were able to put in a kayak down at the marina without any trouble.

nice get-away cabin at Fallen Leaf lake
We enjoyed the cute and cozy cabin, which was well stocked and comfortable.. It's in a perfect location to enjoy Fallen Leaf Lake as well as Tahoe. There are great hiking trails nearby and swimming at the small beach at the end of the lake was wonderful.

Forest retreat in gorgeous sierra lake location
We loved staying in this cozy cabin in a beautiful forested location, just steps from gorgeous Fallen Leaf Lake. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided, including a very comfy bed. There are many hiking opportunities nearby. Swimming in the lake is great, and stunning Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe is a short drive.

Modest cabin with some very nice features
The owners are gradually improving and updating this cabin. It has a humble exterior, but new doors and handsome woodwork inside as well as some good wood furniture are solid, attractive, and well-made.The kitchen is tiny but has excellent hot water supply, charming red refrigerator, and tiny modern stove. The newish cast iron wood-burning stove looks handsome; we didn't need it due to mild weather during our stay, but did turn on a space heater one morning. The remodeled bathroom is fine. The bedroom is small with insufficient space for two people's suitcases. The bed was firm and comfortable.The livingroom area is fairly good-sized, but lacks comfortable seating (with back support) and reading lamps. We liked the deck in front for watching the trees and sky, changing light, and birds. The dock is a short walk down the road. We chose not to use the kayak, as it lacked some features.important to one of us. Walking on the road is not pleasant due to traffic, though we were able to walk to the marina where we enjoyed a snack and view of the lake and boats. We found good easy hiking with lots of natural beauty and some historic interest starting at the campground at the southern end of the lake..

I think you would be more comfortable at the Marriott. We are not an LLC with 8 rentals, our cabin is used by My wife and I when not rented, other than a few needed improvements, i.e. new windows and a couple of ceiling fans, my wife and I see our cabin as perfect for us, just right, not lacking of comfortable seating and reading lamps or anything else, not lacking in anyway, it is just right. We have furnished and decorated our home to suit us, the owners. Unlike this guest I think you will find our cabin very comfortable.

A wonderful week by the lake
Our family of four (two adults, plus 6 year old and 3 year old) and our chocolate lab had a great week at the cabin. The cabin: fully functional kitchen with a generous mini-fridge. Comfortable living room with internet (dad chose to use, mom chose to be free of all electronics for the week). Plenty of extras around the place like blankets, sunscreen, extra shampoo in case you forget anything. Around the lake: 5 minute walk to the community dock where there is a kayak we could use (which we did use many times) along with life jackets available in the cabin for adults and kids. About a 20 minute dock down to the store and public beach. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet week by the lake. We were able to do all our favorite Lake Tahoe activities and yet really unwind through the week. Thank you!

This is a cabin in the woods, rustic, comfortable with all the amenities you need.
We enjoyed our stay at Mr. James cabin. James was responsive and helpful. He even sent us a text alert that bears were in our neighborhood. The kayak at the dock was a great surprise the lake is spectacular. The deck and furniture was covered with tree sap so we didn't spend as much time out there as we would have liked but all in all we enjoyed our stay and would like to stay there again.
