  • Unwind beside the Rio Grande at this inviting riverfront cabin, where mountain views, seasonal wildflowers, and a spacious wraparound porch create a peaceful setting for a Colorado getaway. Designed for spending time together, this charming retreat offers a wonderful blend of rustic character, outdoor recreation, and relaxing spaces to enjoy with family and friends.

    The wraparound porch is a highlight of the home, providing plenty of room to sip your morning coffee, share conversations, and take in views of the surrounding mountains and nearby river. Follow the sound of the flowing water to the riverside firepit, where you can gather in the evening for stories and s'mores. For even more adventure, you can launch a raft or inner tubes directly from the property, or begin your river trip upstream and float back to the cabin.

    Inside, pale wood paneling gives the cabin a warm, welcoming feel. The open kitchen allows the conversation to continue while meals are being prepared, with a breakfast bar and dining area offering comfortable places to gather. The nearby family room provides another inviting spot to relax after a day on the water or exploring the mountains. A private washer and dryer make it easy to freshen up clothing after outdoor adventures, while the loft-style bedroom features two twin beds, making it a fun sleeping space for younger guests.

    The cabin's location offers a peaceful neighborhood setting while keeping you close to the area's outdoor attractions. South Fork is just under nine miles away, and the historic town of Creede is less than 15 miles from the property. Rio Grande National Forest, with its expansive landscapes and year-round recreational opportunities, is approximately five and a half miles away. Guests interested in guided adventures and winter recreation can visit Mountain Skillz, just over seven miles from the cabin, for local tours and snowmobiling instruction.

    Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate access to the Rio Grande's Gold Medal trout waters, while the surrounding area offers opportunities to explore the outdoors in every season. Whether you're planning a river adventure, a fishing getaway, or a relaxing escape with loved ones, this riverside cabin offers a memorable place to enjoy the natural beauty of southern Colorado.

Absolutely amazing! This is quite possibly the best VRBO we've ever stayed in.The cabin was spotless, comfortable, and had plenty of room for our family of six. It felt welcoming from the moment we walked in, but the real highlight of this property is the porch and riverfront setting. The panoramic views of the peaceful river are simply breathtaking. We spent hours relaxing on the porch, listening to the water, and enjoying the tranquility. Being able to walk right down into the river made the experience even more special.The location was perfect—close enough to both South Fork and Creede to easily explore the area, yet secluded enough to feel like a true mountain retreat. There was plenty of parking, and the check-in and check-out process was simple with clear, easy-to-follow instructions.If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with incredible views and a beautiful riverfront setting, this is the place. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Peace on the River

The back porch is medicinal during coffee in the morning and wine in the late afternoon. Perfect location to the best restaurants and shopping. We always enjoy our time there ❤️

Lovely house in a gorgeous location

Beautiful house. Very comfortable. Convenient to both Creede and South fork. Sitting out on the porch watching the Rio Grande flow by was the best start to any day.

Fishing and more

This was a great house. Our whole family enjoyed the location and the property. The dishwasher wasn't working and the dish soap provided was not good. Everything else was PERFECT. We would definitely recommend this place.

Spring break 2020

We enjoyed our stay at this spacious and comfortable home in South Fork. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and all of our needs were met at this rental. Will plan to come and stay again! Thanks for everything!

Riverside Retreat

Beautiful river views. Easy check-in. Our family owns a cabin down the road, so the location was perfect for our family reunion. Comfortable beds and the home is well equipped. This is my happy place, watching the river go by.

Great vacation place

The location was great. Quiet neighborhood, right on the river. Slept with the windows open and could hear the river, very relaxing. Two bathrooms were awesome with two teenage boys. The loft was a great place for the boys to hangout. Would recommend this property.

Not good

The house was OK. The view is good, but the house needs some TLC. The shutters would not work right. The trash situation was a mess and there was pet hair on many things in there. It could’ve been kept up a little bit better I wouldn’t stay there again

Little slice of Heaven

This was our third visit to South Fork, and each time we stayed at the Riverside Retreat. The kitchen is fully stocked with every cooking utensil, dish, cup, or kitchen gadget needed to prepare every meal of the day. My kids just love sleeping in the loft upstairs. The nighttime view of the moon is spectacular. The master bedroom is big, and the blankets are warm. When at the cabin, it feels as though we are being hugged by trees. Every window is a beautiful view of the stunning environment. It is genuinely a little slice of Heaven on Earth. We will return for our fourth visit soon!

Amazing home in a perfect setting

This was our third stay at the Riverside Retreat and it just keeps getting better. The house was exceptionally clean and the flooring in both bathrooms and the laundry room has been updated as well as the master shower and bathroom. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful scenic setting this is the perfect place for you. Wether you are sitting on the large porch watching the Rio Grande flow just feet from the porch or enjoying a fire and s’mores by the river you will feel your everyday worries just floating away! The house is just minutes from South Fork on one side and Creed on the other. There are tons of hiking, biking and off road trails easily accessible all around. We absolutely love the Riverside Retreat and will be back as often as possible.

Unclean property & particular owners

The dishes in the kitchen were caked with prior food stuck to them (and a single wash wouldn’t remove it all). The old dishwasher was still full of dishes when we arrived and multiple surfaces in the cabin were dirty and in need of a clean. Also, the owner has some very particular “suggestions” on when you use the dishwasher and washer/dryer which means they want you to use them them during off peak hours only, which is 10-2 daily. They also have very strict guidance on how to heat the cabin (though we didn’t have to mess with that given the weather when we visited). They also ask you to water the lawn, which is also in need of a major mowing. The location was amazing but given all of these negatives, we won’t be booking here again.

Great location, but needs work!

First, the good points: -The location along the river is fantastic, and the view toward the rocks is stunning. -The house design is very nice, and this location has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay. The bad points (the property needs some work and TLC): -I wiped some water up from the kitchen floor and my paper towel came up very dirty, so I wonder when the floor was last cleaned. -The carpet could use replacing. -The shower doors in the master bath allowed copious water to leak onto the floor, no matter how we positioned the sliding doors. -The door screens are bent and left gaps for flies to get in. -The cookware needs to be replaced. -The porch furniture is not very comfortable. -Our stay started on a Sunday, and we were away from the house Monday (the day prior to garbage day). When we returned Monday evening, someone had moved our can out to the road, and they had filled it to overflowing with other peoples’ garbage. We were barely able to put our single bag of garbage in for the next day’s pickup. -After that pickup, as instructed, we put our garbage (in bags) in the can. The instructions about storing garbage recommend a lockable container or storing the garbage can indoors. Neither recommendation was an option for us since the garbage can was not lockable and the garage that the can set outside of was locked (we had no key). Our last night there (Saturday), something (we assume a bear) knocked over the can and spread garbage everywhere. Luckily, it only happened on our last night and we didn’t have to clean up every day. We suggest guests be allowed to put the can in the garage until the morning of garbage pickup.

Peaceful Cabin with Great Views

We love the sound of the river, views of the mountains, wonderful cabin and wildlife everywhere. Located between Southfork and Creede, the cabin is in a great location to cover the area between Pagosa Springs and Lake City. The "big" city of Alamosa is only a 45 minute drive away. "Scenic" is a constant description of your experience as you traverse to and from the cabin. Fishing, rafting, hiking, shopping, biking, 4 x 4, and etc. right outside. We brought heavy duty inflatable rafts with us, dropped in upstream and floated back right to the rear of the cabin. You can also rent rafts and canoes or go rafting with a guide. You won't be disappointed staying here!
