Frangipani Beach is a beautiful stretch of sand to the west of Pajinka, the most northern tip of Mainland Australia. It's a stunning sight at low tide when you can walk along the bay and out to some of the rocks at the further end of the beach. The car park for Pajinka is at the north end of the beach, and at low tide you can walk around the mangrove trees and climb up the rocks to reach the Tip. As with all waterways in this part of the world, be watchful for crocodiles.
Pajinka is the northern most point of Mainland Australia, also known as "The Tip". Getting here is an epic journey - especially if you drive. The trip up the Cape York Peninsula is dry and dusty and can only be done during the dry season (Australian winter) - the roads are impassable during the wet season. But all those bumps on the road are forgotten when you reach The Tip. There is a small sign on the rocks that acknowledges your achievement. We rose before dawn and drove from Loyalty Beach (about 40km away) to be here just after 7am. The early start is definitely worth it. By the time we were back down from The Tip the car park was full and there were 4WDs and motorbikes on the beach to the west - not the best for photos. The actual tip is about a 1.5km walk from the car park. If you come at low tide (recommended) you can walk around the beach and climb up the roads, otherwise follow the path behind the car park up the rocks and you'll see the little cairns built with rocks. You'll spot the sign on the water's edge.
