Stunning Mountain Lake, Private Forest, Beautiful 4 BR & 4 BA

Montlake is a unique mountain lake formed millions of years ago. It is one of the very few natural lakes in Tennessee. Our Montlake Retreat is a very spacious home with about 20 acres of wooded grounds. There are trails around the lake, and there is a waterfall directly across the lake from the terrace. We are family-oriented, but also welcome special interest groups, such as rock climbers, sports teams, fishermen (up to three boats), weddings, reunions. etc.

Montlake has four bedrooms, four baths, living room, library, great room/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. There are two fireplaces (library and great room) and a large deck above the terrace. It is a long, rambling house, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The master bath has a jetted tub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in closet and bidet. The other three baths have toilets, sinks, and tub-showers. The laundry room has large capacity (front-loading) washer and dryer. The terrace overlooks the lake and is a pleasant place to bask in the sun or gather around a campfire. Added bonus for the kids: If you hike all the way around the lake, you are entitled to ring the antique bell!

Family Weekend
The property is very scenic. The home is quite large with 2 bedrooms and baths on separate ends of the house. Plenty of room to gather in the kitchen , den, living room and music room. The property is dated but very well appointed. 8 adults 4 children 9-12 everyone had room to spread out and do their thing. We enjoyed it !!!!

Great space for a getaway
We had 11 family members staying at the house and we really enjoyed our stay. The description online matched the house perfectly. We enjoyed the artwork in the house and the stories behind them. We also explored the property and it was beautiful.

Great property
Older home in a beautiful location. Parents, three adult children and their 5 children had plenty of space to gather and still have private space. Large common area, 4 bedrooms wirh nearby bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, basketball net, spacious patio, beautiful trail around the lake and close proximity to Chattanooga attractions. We would definitely rent again!!

Beautiful area. The house has issues tho. All water pressure drops after about 90 seconds onto a shower. Moved to different shower, same issue. Owner came to check, said she had no idea what caused it. Asked us to film if happened again. It did, we sent her video and picture of ants in the kitchen a counters but never got a response.

Lake house
There were 8 of us. The house is very spacious and comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. With 4 bedrooms and 4 baths we were able to spread out and have our own space. Mariella, the owner, was extremely helpful every time we had questions. She even took the time to put fresh cut flowers on the table and entryway! Such a thoughtful touch! The lake was beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and listening to the waterfall. We walked around the lake several times and rang the bell! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this to others. E. Roberts

Unique beautiful scenery - anwesome experience!
Hostess was very responsive. Our families had a great stay while visiting for a family wedding in Soddy Daisy. The property is so unique with the walking trail around the lake. Very spacious and well-suited for several families to gather.

Lovely mountain top home
We had about six family members coming up for a wedding. This house had plenty of bedrooms and beds and bathrooms. It was too cold to sit out back but it has a beautiful view. We actually talked about coming back in the fall and stay in another weekend. Everything was wonderful!

Family Christmas
We traveled with two of our daughters and their families from Wisconsin to spend Christmas with one of our other daughters that lives near Chattenooga. It is an amazing home full of character and history. The drive up the mountain is beautiful. It had plenty of space for for everyone and plenty of room for our grandchildren to play. The kitchen was fully stocked and we were able to cook each night and share meals around the large dining table. We took walks around the lake and had fires on the patio. Thank you for having a wonderful place to make our Christmas memorable!

Warmth
The house was very attractive, interior and exterior. The warmth of the house and the warmth of the host were appreciated. We did not use a lot of things, like the TV, but there were opportunities for self-entertaining at all levels. We felt safe and secure. We felt that we could reach out at any time for any help we needed. The cleanliness was appreciated. This house seems to offer "anything to anyone" for any occasion. Made our stay very enjoyable.

Small family reunion
This property was the perfect place for a reunion for my 90 year old dad and 97 year old aunt. Having 4 bedrooms, 6 beds, and 4 bathrooms, 4 couches and many chairs allowed for privacy, naps, and places to converse and play games. Herschel and Mariela were gracious, attentive hosts. Herschel even provided a brief history of the area. We highly recommend this place.

Family celebration
What an amazing property, and the host's are every bit as amazing! My Mom, son and niece all celebrated birthdays this week and we had so much room to set up games for kids. We hiked the amazing trail around the lake. This place left my kids chanting Tennessee and best vacation ever! And I agree, best vacation ever. The owners are as amazing as the home and the view. Attentive, polite and just overall wonderfull people. Absolutely fully recommend this home, i know we cannot wait to go back!

Wonderful stay!
Mariela and Herschel were wonderful hosts! The house and property were beautiful. We all enjoyed the lake and the hiking trails. When Herschel came for a minor repair, he stayed for a while and told us the history of Montlake. This was our second stay and it won't be out last.

70th Birthday trip
This home is absolutely beautiful. It has an awesome view, and right across the lake is a waterfall. There’s a wonderful patio and deck. The bedrooms were comfortable. There are four bathrooms. For five women, it worked out beautifully. I highly recommend this location and property. The owners were absolutely great. They were so attentive if we had questions.
