Wonderful beach access and views!
Beautiful views of the ocean from back porches and also inlet and ocean view from the roof top! Very clean and great and timely communication with property manager. Kitchen was well stocked for all our cooking needs. Will be back!

What a Great Place!
What an amazing place to stay! It was the perfect size for the whole family. The top deck was a wonderful place to sit and have our tea and coffee in the mornings while trying to spot dolphins. The location was a convenient 10 minute drive to grocery and souvenir stores. It was clean and well kept. I would have liked more storage in the kitchen to place all our food for the week, but we made it work! Being able to take our dog with us was an added bonus.
If this is your first time going to Topsail you MUST go to the Topsail Trading Company and get some homemade fudgeā¦.it is amazing and they have so many flavors to try!

Perfect Beach Week
We had a wonderful stay at Up on the Roof! The house was perfect for our needs and the location canāt be beat. We especially loved the sandbar at low tide and tide pools in the evenings, helping us max out our hours on the beach. Amy was super accessible and helpful during our stay.

Up on the Roof, sun
we truly enjoyed our stay at this beachfront location. the house is beautifully decorated, the LR, DR, kitchen area is gorgeous. the best part was the views from the decks, sun rises were awesome!!

Wonderful week at the āSunā property
All communications, before and after our stay, were prompt and clear.
The house was exactly as advertised, but the view and access to the beach were even better than expected.
We absolutely would rent again.

Not quite as expected
Start off with the good - the beach is in the backyard, and thatās about it.
Be prepared to make your own beds on check in, we asked where are all the sheets? Owner comment, āoh due to the pandemic, we arenāt making any beds, linens are in a bag by the doorā. Okā¦ been to 20 + vacation rentals in the post-pandemic era, and this is a first. Should get a discount on the cleaning fee if Iām also a housekeeper.
This is a duplex, with neighbors only a small 2 way door apart, as in adjoining hotel rooms. Our neighbors were partying hard with a large group late into the night. We told the owner, who said they would say something, but nothing changed, doubt they reached out to the other renter. Few other little issues, always an excuse from the owner. Never took responsibility for anything.
Very heavy storm one day while we were there, woke up in the morning to discover the roof leaked all night right into my wifeās suitcase. Full of water. That was our last straw and we left a day early. Notified the owner of the leak, and another excuse, no apology. We were offered a credit to come back, not that we would anyways. Never received the credit, tried to follow up with the owner but never a reply. Filed a complaint with VRBO.
Do yourself a favor and find anything else to rent while visiting the area.

Perfect Beach Getaway
Communication with the host was outstanding. The property is accurately described and pictured in the listing. The location is perfect, secluded from the hustle yet close to everything you would need. We would definitely stay here again!

Everything was perfect!
We have been coming to Topsail for over 30 years so needless to say, itās a special place to usā¦like a second home! Up on the Roof was a wonderful place to stay and we wouldnāt hesitate to stay again. Clean and everything was as described. It was no problem but we could hear the other guests thru the shared door but it wasnāt an issue. Check in was easy and linens arrived. No hesitation in recommending this home.

Favorite stay so far
This house was GREAT! It was so clean and the furniture was nice and clean too. We werenāt afraid to sit on the furniture, as with some houses in the past! The walk to the beach was short and easy. Close enough to make multiple trips back to the house for supplies, potty breaks, extra drinks, beach gear, etc. The location is great! The beach wasnāt crowded, even at the public beach/parking area a quarter mile down! Itās a short and easy drive to Surf City where all the shops and restaurants are. The decks were by far our favorite part of the house, though! We LOVE sitting and watching the waves crash or looking for dolphins and this house has the PERFECT decks for that! Amy was super responsive and accommodating to our needs. We will definitely be back!

A place for great memories
From the moment of arrival, a sense of relaxation came upon us knowing we would be staying at a place that will accommodate our every need. The property overlooks the ocean and has plenty of space for relaxation. It's very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, and places to enjoy a day of fun. Super glad this was the place of choice for our vacation. Will Definitely be back and Amy was super awesome and attentive to our every need. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place.

Stunning
Amy and Greg are the kindest hosts! The home is gorgeous, stocked with everything you need. We hosted a family dinner of 18 people with all the comforts of home. The beach is amazing! Clean, private, all the neighbors are pleasant. Thankful we were able to spend a week living the simpler life in paradise.

Horrible Experience
Our experience with this property and the hosts was difficult to say the least. First night, we found a live giant cockroach the size of a key fob in the first floor bed under the sheets. That person slept on the couch that evening and no one slept on that bed our entire stay even after the owners sent out a bug sprayer.
The fridge leaks water leaving a large puddle in front every morning to clean up so kids donāt slip and fall.
The pictures of the property are old and deceiving. The pictures show all beds are made with sheets already on and towels next to the beds. In reality, all bed sheets and towels are in a bag on the bottom floor so all beds have to be made yourself.
The pictures also show three rocking chairs outside. Instead there was only one functional rocking chair and another one was missing the seat. No third one.
One night and the following day we had heavy rain. We found out the roof leaks badly. Water leaked in two bedrooms, a hallway, down the wall of the stairs, and from the kitchen ceiling onto the kitchen island. We had pots catching water and spent the day mopping up water which continued leaking all day to prevent anyone from slipping and just trying to prevent unnecessary damage to the house.
At closer inspection, the house leaked several times before. Thereās water stains on the kitchen ceiling and baseboard trim in some bedrooms.
We contacted the owners about the leak. They sent a roofer out and couldnāt find the source of the leaks. The owner Greg came out and was very rude. His entire focus was on the property instead of our experience. No thank you for helping with the water leaks and only a quick apology for the inconvenience as he was going up the stairs to look at the leaks. He vacuumed up some water, plugged in a fan, and a moldy smelling dehumidifier in the bedroom.
We asked for a partial refund from the owners first in writing, then again verbally, then again in writing and each time theyāve deflected from giving us a definitive answer. We never would have stayed in this property if we knew what we were getting into.
Itās been over 3 days and still the owners refuse to advise whether they are willing to give a partial refund or not. Choose a different host.

Great house
Love this townhouse. The view of the ocean from the master bedroom was my favorite. Itās just 15 steps to the beach. During high tide the water comes almost to the steps leading up to the house. Plenty of space outside to hang out and have great chats with friends and family. Iād bring extra laundry detergent and some cascade tabs as well as ice. Lots of dishes and containers to store leftovers in! Itās a great house!
