Golden Sand Hotel

Except language problem everything was good. None of the staff either at reception or at housekeeping speak or understand English. Only one of the receptionist Ms. Srey V. knew and spoke English well which was very helpful. Hotel is situated near Serendipity Beach Road which is only 2 mins walk away and overall stay is comfortable.

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in. if you are a westerner do not stay here.. the hotel staff doesn’t want you there. The hotel guests don’t want you there... and you certainly don’t want to be there. JUST AWFUL!! PS. Maybe the worst buffet breakfast in the history of hotels worldwide. AVOID

Shocking hotel - scalding hot water ( no cold) could not fix Breakfast limited selection and poor quality + smoking allowed whilst you eat. No non smoking rooms. Staff quite uninterested. Rate this hotel - 10 Do Not Book This Hotel

Awful. Would not recommend unless you’re desperate

Experience here compared to anywhere else in Cambodia was awful. We booked two rooms non smoking. By the time we left we were high on nicotine, rooms had previously been smoked in. Room, particularly the bathroom was gross. The blind in our bathroom was broken, would not open, had mould all over it. Toilet did not flush properly. The second room, toilet blocked up overnight and the shower did not work properly. This hotel is Chinese run and all the Chinese are their to gamble as it is a casino. Would not recommend. We stayed at other places throughout Cambodia for the same price point and this was abysmal. We do not have high expectations when paying a mid price range but in comparison to a lovely clean place we stayed at Otres Beach we made the mistake of staying the second night at the golden sand in Sihanoukville.

Hotel very disappointing

Checked in to the hotel and had to move rooms 3 times within 12hrs, bathroom tiles coming off of floor they were going to take the tiles and leave bare sharp tile grout. 2nd and 3rd rooms had no working air con, and no hot water for showers, was shown 2 other rooms with large areas of black mould on the walls. Management was none existent at the hotel, none of the hotel numbers were answered. Room service menu is written in Chinese only, this is a hotel/ casino aimed at Chinese tourists only. Breakfast buffet was sparse and only Chinese food, there was a cook to prepare eggs if you wanted. The other 2 people I was travelling with one room had mould, no safe and no hot water, the other person had to transfer rooms as well no air con, no hot water and no room safe.

Vi hade bokat 11 dagar av dem bytade vi rum 3 gånger på grund Inget Wi Fi sedan safebox inte funkade och AC funkade inte. Urusel frukostbuffé bara Asiater en dag var kaffet slut 8.30. Träffade flera andra resenärer som inte var nöjda så hotellet går inte att rekommendera....Yvonne & Thomas

Nie wieder Golden Sand Hotel

Das, von Expedia verwendete Foto des Hotels (Außenansicht) ist nicht mehr aktuell. Das Hotel ist teilweise in ein Spielcasino umgebaut (siehe mein Foto). Ich kenne Sihanoukville seit mehr als 20 Jahren und das Golden Sand Hotel seit seiner Eröffnung. Ich habe in dem Hotel seit der Eröffnung mehrfach übernachtet. Im Laufe der Zeit habe ich die verschiedenen Zimmerkategorien bis hin zur Suite gebucht. Bei meinem letzten Besuch vor ca. 3 Jahren hatte ich die gleiche Kategorie gebucht wie jetzt und erhielt damals ein hervorragend renoviertes Zimmer. Diesmal erhielt ich mit Sicherheit nicht die von mir gebuchte Zimmerkategorie sondern einen Standardroom. Die Safetybox in dem Zimmer war defekt und nicht benutzbar. Nach meiner Reklamation wurde mir eine funktionsfähige Box gebracht, die jedoch nicht an der Wand befestigt wurde (konnte man also leicht die ganze Box mitnehmen). Das Steuerpult für die Lampen im Raum war bis auf einen Schalter unbrauchbar. Die Ausstattung des Poolbereichs ist total vernachlässigt. Es gibt auch nicht mehr, wie früher Handtücher am Pool. Das ganze Hotel ist nur noch auf chinesische Casinobesucher ausgerichtet.

Disappointing all round!

So they took over half hour to check me in as they couldn’t find my hotels.com despite me giving them confirmation number and eventually forwarding them my booking email. I was put in an awful room right by a very noise generator, I asked the next day if this was Deluxe as I paid for and they promptly changed the room. It wasn’t much better and I was greeted by a lizard in the room. Wi-Fi went down for over 24 hours. Most of reception staff do not speak English. Construction is still ongoing and noisy. Pool was closed for 1 day despite it was 30 degrees and glorious sun. There is a strong smell of smoke throughout the hotel. I wish I listed to other people’s reviews of this horrible hotel

La chine au Cambodge

Hôtel où on peut fumer partout c’est surprenant, établissement chinois avec casino au Rez de chaussée , il y a très peu de personne qui parle anglais .moquette au sol dans les couloirs hygiène à revoir. restaurant avec un traducteur chinois / anglais sinon c’est l’aventure. Ville sale jonchée de détritus ce qui engendre des odeurs insupportables . Cette ville change ,de nombreux travaux sont en cours les plages sont généralement sales à l’exception de Otres à 3km . Le tuk tuk est le meilleur moyen de transport . Les restaurants près de l’embarcadère sont généralement les meilleurs .

Kiinalaisten tupakin hajuinen hotelli. Sisätiloissa sai poltella kessua ja aamupala oli aika surkea, ainoa mitä pystyi syömään oli riisi. Hotellin yhteydessä oli kasino joten jos pidät röökin hajusta ja uhkapeleistä tämä hotelli on sinua varten. Itse en menisi toista kertaa.

Room has no smoking sign in English only, ash tray supplied in room, a/c saturated with cigarette smell. Staff extremely helpful and cannot praise them enough. Pool great, breakfast designed for Asian tastes but does have pastries and you can get an omelet etc from the egg chef. Walk to beach and nightlife.

Hotel has gone down hill since my last stay 6 months ago. Breakfast was disappointing, selection has reduced and egg chef has no idea. Hotel staff are friendly and rooms clean but lacking maintenance. Beware being on back of hotel, as construction next door starts early morning.

Hotel has a great pool and a pretty decent breakfast. The room was pretty tired and the housekeeping left a bit to be desired. In the room the toilet flush "handle" was a string. It broke a couple of days in to the stay. I adder another knot to the current dozen. The bed was a little softer than a board. Housekeeping did not replace the empty toilet roll, didn't take away all of the trash, left dirty dishes, didn't leave water. Minor things, but as I told the front desk, it is not how a quality hotel is run.

Not great but probably reasonable value

I only stayed here on night due to a change in travel plans. Nice lobby, large pool, decent spread at breakfast were the main positives. The rooms were not great but this is an economy range hotel and standard is probably about what you would expect for the price. My evaluation of Sihanoukville was that it is not the sort of place I would want to visit again though the beach was reasonable.

Siisti ja melko rauhallinen hotelli. Uima-allas hyvä. Muut hotellin vieraat käyttivät melko vähän, joten altaalla saa olla aika rauhassa. Miinusta saa aamupala buffa, jota hotellin henkilökunta ainakin high seasonin aikana kun asiakkaita on paljon täytti aivan liian hitaasti (tyhjiä tarjoiluastioita täynnä koko buffet).

GOLDEN SAND HOTEL, SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA

Stayed here 3 times. Never again. Building work around the pool area. Breakfast food containers were never restocked. My wife loved the bkf. choices; I hated it and eat only Muesli. Egg station was combined with the noodle station and the one staff member could not cope. The swimming pool water is always freezing cold for some reason unlike any other hotel pool in the area. The front desk will tell you that they cannot find your reservation. Observed it happening to all that arrived. Together with your key you are handed a power card to place in electric slot in room. Housekeeping remove this card when they clean and leave no message to say they have taken it and where to go for a replacement. The rooms are large. The bathroom is a wet room, shower head over wc. Each time we have stayed the hotel has had a private party outside with very loud music until late. There is no thought for other guests. The reason we kept returning was that the wifi reception was very good and with our late entertainment being web based UK TV this was important and overrode any of the other bad experiences. Wifi not so good this time plus power card being removed.
