"We loved staying at Dukes. The staff were really warm and welcoming from start to finish. My husband remembers staying at Dukes when he was a child and wanted to share this with our children. Our only issue was that the room was very hot, but we were going through a heatwave, so that can't be helped. But maybe some fans in the room would have been helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!"

"The hotel setting is lovely, full of trees and birdsong. Our room was a good size and the bathroom was immaculately clean. However, we could hear the occupant's in the room above us, quite clearly, getting into bed, using the bathroom and chatting, though fortunately, this didnt carry onto late or too early! The breakfast was nice, though is quite formal, but the breakfast team are charming and proficient. And parking onsite is a bonus. The hotel would benefit from modernisation, starting with a...

"Disappointing stay—lacks warmth and basic comfortsI appreciated the historic building, but the room itself was unsuitable. Soundproofing is non-existent; I could hear everything from neighbouring rooms, including plumbing. With no AC, the only ventilation was a window opening onto a shared roof, which wasn't secure to leave open overnight. Aside from a nice check-in receptionist, the staff were offish and impersonal, which felt quite unwelcoming for a solo traveller. The place felt messy and...
