I must say that I was very impressed with this hotel. The location is great and the property itself is well taken care of. However, I do have two major gripes about this hotel. The first is that there is a no smoking policy that they don’t enforce at all. Sometimes, as soon as the elevator doors open and I enter my floor, the whole floor smells like cigarette smoke because people smoke in their rooms with the hallway doors open. At other times some guests smoke with their door closed but their cigarette smoke still gets in the hallway but just not as strong. Either way, it’s disgusting and I don’t understand why hotels in China are so worried about enforcing their own no smoking policy. This is not the only hotel that has this problem as I’ve stayed in a number of hotels in Shanghai that have this problem and doesn’t do anything to stop it. On my last day as I was leaving to check out, I noticed a cigarette butt on the floor next to the elevator. I guess the person was kind enough to not get in the elevator with a lit cigarette. If the smoking doesn’t bother you then I guess this hotel will be great for you. I’ve tried to complain at other hotels and nothing gets done. Either they will offer to move you to a different floor or even upgrade your room but nothing really happens to the offender, they most likely will get a small penalty if at all but nothing to deter them from going it again. My second gripe is the Chinese restaurant on the 12 floor, it was horrible and expensiv
