New, modern construction with tropical and slight colonial touches. New elevator and cameras everywhere. Pristine through and through. Physical keys and power cards. The staff were pleasant over all but midday has best service. Younger staff are meek to point of rudeness--have poor phone edict. Language barrier is understandable but you can't just vanish or hang up when guests need help! Room service has a great variety, ingredients and presentation! Breakfast is so so. Poor room insulation. Quiet at night though. Rooms are clean, comfy and full of amenities. Wifi drops for hours. Strong, hot shower. Plenty of storage. Power outlets are not international and not a good fit with adapters. There's a grocery across the man road and a Pizza hut not far away. Other tiny food shops but can be risky. No matter when you order PickMe, drivers are slow. **Important note: without the card, the room power auto shut off is hours long instead of only 10mins. Leading to confusion of a blackout. Staff needs to tell guests this rather than sneaking away.** Hotel is a great first stop in Sri Lanka! Despite it's flaws.
