The Space:

The timber is what you'll notice first. Thick posts and beams frame one open room for living, cooking, and eating, and a wall of windows looks out at forest with the ocean between the trunks. Madrone Meadow sits a short walk from The Sea Ranch Lodge, close enough that dinner out doesn't mean driving.



A loft with a skylight sits above the main room, with a desk if a workday follows you here. Below it, the living area faces the glass, and the dining table sits in the same light. There's no TV in this house on purpose; the windows and the quiet do that job.



Step onto the deck and the hot tub is there, with chairs around it and the trees close. Shell Beach and its tide pools are about a quarter mile, near enough for a morning walk and far enough that you'll come back to this deck.



KITCHEN & DINING

You'll cook on an electric range with a dishwasher, a pour-over coffee setup, and a toaster on hand; there's no microwave, so reheating happens on the stove. The table sits in the main room with the view. There's a washer and dryer in the house too.

GETTING IN

You'll have a covered parking space, with guest parking in front, and you'll let yourself in with the entry code we send before arrival. Stairs lead up to the loft; both bedrooms are on the main level.



OUT THE DOOR

The Sea Ranch Lodge, with its restaurant, bar, and café, is a short walk from the door. Shell Beach is about 1/4 mile, Black Point about 1 mile, and Pebble Beach about 1.25 miles. Ohlson's heated pool is about 1.5 miles; Del Mar's is about 3 miles north. Gualala's market and restaurants are about 5 miles north on Highway 1.

After dinner the loft goes quiet and the glass goes dark. Climb into the hot tub, and the last light over the water comes through the trees to find you.



Guest Access:

The whole house is yours, from the loft to the deck and the hot tub. You'll have a covered parking space plus guest parking in front, and the entry code arrives before you do. The Sea Ranch recreation pass is included, so the heated pools, saunas, and courts at the rec centers are open to you.



The Neighborhood:

Madrone Meadow sits almost on top of The Sea Ranch Lodge, a short walk from the door, inside the planned community that runs about 10 miles along the Sonoma Coast. Shell Beach is about 1/4 mile, Black Point about 1 mile, and Pebble Beach about 1.25 miles. The Ohlson recreation center, with a heated pool, sauna, and courts, is about 1.5 miles; Del Mar is about 3 miles north. Gualala's groceries, restaurants, and the Gualala Arts Center are about 5 miles north on Highway 1. Farther south on Highway 1, Jenner and Bodega Bay make a long day trip.



Getting Around:

San Francisco is about 2.5 hours away: Highway 101 north, then Highway 1 along the coast. Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa is roughly an hour and a half by car. The Lodge is walkable from here; everything else is a short drive.



Other Things to Note:

There is no microwave; reheat on the stove or in the oven.



The wood-burning fireplace in the living room is not for guest use. Heat is forced air.



There is no TV in the house. Bring a book, or bring the laptop and use the WiFi.



Guests describe the mattresses as firm memory foam.



Stairs lead to the loft. Both bedrooms and both baths are on the main level.



The three recreation centers belong to the whole community; on a busy weekend the pool will have company.



The Sea Ranch keeps outdoor lighting to a minimum. A flashlight helps on the walk from the car.



Cell coverage is thin along this coast. The house WiFi is the connection to count on.



Gray whales travel the coast from December through April. The bluff near Shell Beach, about 1/4 mile, is a better lookout than the deck.



Deer wander the meadows around the Lodge most mornings. The deck is the easy place to watch.
