Entire 1842 Downtown Home with Private Courtyard + Parking by Lucky Savannah

Built in 1842 and having recently completed a full exterior renovation, this beautiful home looks better than ever with fresh paint, new shutters and lovely landscaping! Not only feeling pretty on the outside, the inside is also feeling the love with new air conditioning and humidity controls for the top floors of the home, a new tankless water heater and new large smart TV in the den.

Designed as a southern retreat for its Savannah native, NYC-based owners, the home has been tastefully decorated featuring a mix of modern elements, locally sourced antiques and accessories, as well as custom pieces. Highlights include a super plush Shabby Chic couch in the living room overlooking East Saint Julian, a chic dining room featuring a custom table, fireplace and gorgeous crystal chandelier, and fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a butcher block island. The primary bedroom welcomes you with a Queen size bed, views of River Street fireworks, a flat-screen TV, and a custom California closet. Adjacent to the master, a family room with large Smart TV and spacious desk easily converts to an additional bedroom with a Queen sleeper sofa. The top floor of the house boasts views of the Cathedral and the twinkling Talmadge bridge at night and features three original Jack Leigh prints, the famous photographer most known for his photo of the "Bird Girl," which was chosen for the cover of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

The private rear courtyard features a built-in professional gas grill. The perfect spot for visiting with friends and family, dining alfresco, or just relaxing. Please take note, smoking is not allowed on the premises of this home, including the courtyard. The garden apartment, accessed through the picket fence and second private courtyard, includes a King bed and a bonus room with Full bed, and fully-equipped kitchen.

What is parking like for this home?
There's designated parking space in the garage that will fit one small SUV, compact car, or sedan. For larger and additional vehicles, all other parking is on-street metered Monday-Saturday 8AM-8PM.

When we got to the house we had no working refrigerator lights that weren’t working and no heat. Come to find out the stove wasn’t working properly and it took forever to light the gas. The maintenance guy bought an over a little refrigerator, but that stopped working as well. I asked for a discount because of all our troubles and they still have not returned my call to discuss. The backyard pictures online are pretty, but it is nasty and you cannot sit out there. There is no propane for the gas grill outside.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The house is a pretty, 1850’s house, well located but in need of some overall maintenance. We are a family of six adults and two young children and the size of the home worked well. We felt that the pictures were accurate for the second floor primary and secondary bedroom and bathroom, but the pictures for the third floor rooms were not great. The outside patio photos were not an accurate representation; furniture was quite dirty, umbrellas covered in mildew, construction sawdust covered the patios and a ladder was left lying across the patio. Pots were filled with dead plants. Some maintenance issues that need to be addressed:The dishwasher was not working well, cycle had to be run twice and the cleaning was poor.The cooktop had only one burner that worked and the lighting of that was not consistent.Several lights in the kitchen did not work and all of the candles need new batteries.The water temp in the 2nd floor shower was inconsistent.The clothes dryer did not dry clothing well.There was an inadequate supply of bath towels and kitchen towels, dishwasher tabs, detergent and garbage bags for a six day stay.Overall, the house is well located and a beautiful old home but it needs a deep clean and all of the maintenance issues to be resolved.I know this feedback may be harsh but I think this house has great potential and future guests will appreciate the addressing of these items.

The host was very welcoming when the front door wouldn't open and the codes were incorrect. They came immediately to fix the bed. The inside of the house was very nice and clean. There are a lot of stairs. The outside private courtyard was a mess and didn't look like the pictures. There was mildew on the furniture and the outdoor kitchen was gross. The was a door off its hinges laying on the concrete.

We felt so welcomed from the moment we entered this beautiful home. The home was beautifully updated and in the most convenient location! We could walk everywhere! The kitchen was well equipped for our 10 person Thanksgiving dinner. The round dining table was ideal for dinner and games later . Each guest had their own space.

The property is beautiful and well maintained on the interior. It's extremely close to all the action and the riverfront. It's a premium location. There were some minor inconveniences, but not ones that I expected from a property that costs as much as this one. The Wi-Fi was inaccessible, it kept prompting for Xfinity credentials or to download the Xfinity app. The lockbox to the garden home was jammed and it took a long time to get open. The air conditioning control panel in the garden home did not work and when a tech showed up to repair it they did not have the part needed to complete the repair. Lastly, I did not receive the code to the front door before my stay. I had to call to get it. That said, the customer service was responsive and very pleasant. I just think some of the issues could have been mitigated before the stay. A simple spot check of the property would have revealed some of them.I'd still recommend this place to anyone traveling with a large group. Assuming the issues I noted get resolved, it's a 5-star potential but not quite there.

Rental company canceled

Didn't stay there. The rental company called up the day before, 20 minutes before they closed to say the rental wouldn't be avaliable. AC problem or something. They offered us an alternate property that wouldn't have provided anything close to the desired experience do we canceled it. We did receive a full refund

Beautiful home - good location- safe neighborhood! It was too cold to enjoy the outside - the hot water is touchy and takes a few minutes to heat up- dryer takes a very long time to dry clothes - check-in and check out process very convenient-

Girls Weekend

8 of us on girls weekend. House is in a great location to walk to everything. Felt completely safe in the neighborhood. Large round table for chatting and eating. Bathroom on every level. Could use a little more seating in living room given the number of people the property sleeps. Super easy to communicate with owners. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Location and Spacious Home

We stayed at the house with 8 family members so all of us had more than enough room. The house is in a perfect location to the river shops/bars and downtown. Very quite neighborhood and beautiful area. I would recommend staying this home with a good of 8+ anytime. There is 2 units in this house so if you use both units you have to go outside to go back and forth between, that would be the only downside to the home.

My sisters and I brought our Mom to Savannah to celebrate her 80th birthday. We all had such a wonderful time together, and this home was a fabulous part of our time together. It was well appointed, comfortable and clean with so many amenities. Thank you!

Fun for a family weekend

This property is in the perfect neighborhood. Quiet and very quaint. Adorable houses all around. Yet, the house is a 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops and a 10 minute walk from the river. Parking on the street was easy if you need extra spaces as we did. There is a charge from 8am until 8pm daily. Use the app for easy reloading of your time. Sundays are free. My parking total for Friday through Monday was $14.46 using the app. Not sure about the rest of my family, but probably similar. Everything we needed was provided. We emailed for some extra supplies a couple of times, but got immediate responses each time. A couple of excursion recommendations for larger groups...book a tour on the Savannah for Morons trolley. It's a PG-13 comedy tour through Savannah with a little bit of history and a lot of fun. A half day at Tybee is a fun break from the bars and shopping. No more than a 30 minute car ride. I recommend the North Beach access at the Lighthouse and Museum. Hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did.

Elegance and Comfort

Great home for group of friends to connect in Savannah. The home was so well equipped for our group of 7 adults, great location in the historic district to access everything but off the path of multitudes of tourists so it was quiet and felt like home away from home but UPGRADED!

Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil.

Love, love, loved the location. House was as pictured. Great for our group. Loved the back patio. A few small issues. Check in was tricky as we were given the wrong door code. Windows do not open. Toaster did not work. BBQ was weak. But would still recommend had a fabulous time.

The best of the best!

We had 11 people staying with us in this beautiful and so incredibly comfortable home for our friends wedding! It was perfect for what we needed and provided a safe space for the grandparents and kids (in the garden apartment) also having the upstairs for the bridal party to live and sleep too! The home was gorgeous, inviting, warm, and parking and the location was easy and perfect! We loved everything about this house!!!

Amazing

We loved our time at this home & in Savannah. This house was perfect, it is large & spaced out so no one feels crowded. On the 3rd floor, in the 3 bedrooms, slept Husband & me in the master, middle child & the twins shared the room with the twin beds. 2nd floor is all communal. The kitchen is fully stocked, lots of options for spices. Plenty of paper products, soap, detergent & towels provided. We BBQ’ed steaks & I enjoyed reading a book on the deck. 1st floor has another living room, it is also where our oldest & niece slept. It was great for them to have “their own apartment” We enjoyed the area very much, so much to do, so many memories made. We rode in a hurst, went on a riverboat & rode the trolly. Our days were jam packed with activities. Our favorite spot that we are our was Alligator Soul
