This one-bedroom, one-bath garden level apartment has been transformed into an intimate and relaxing escape, perfect for a romantic weekend away. Tastefully decorated with the owner’s collections and antiques, the home exudes a casual Southern charm. The open living space features two original decorative brick fireplaces, exposed wooden beams, and has plenty of comfortable seating. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for a night in, and a full size washer and dryer are tucked away in nearby closet space.

The bedroom has a king size bed, plenty of closet space to unpack, and an ensuite bath. Spend your mornings enjoying coffee in the large, exquisitely maintained, shared courtyard accessed via the bedroom. When you’re ready to venture out, you’ll be within walking distance to the best shopping, dining and nightlife Savannah has to offer. Mix with locals and find fresh ingredients for dinner at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays in Forsyth Park, just two minutes away. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

The property was great. The location was perfect for getting the full effort of the Savannah charm. It was with in walking distance of local restaurants. Chatam square was a very scenic and historic area. The provided parking was a godsend in an area with limited access to parking. The one caveat was that the Wi-Fi did not work on the first day we were there. So the streaming tv did not work. Bad for a sports fan. The Wi-Fi did start working after a phone call to the property manager. But the day before we left it stopped again. I would consider this a minor inconvenience but others may not.

Great, comfortable apartment on the ground floor with off-street parking. Could not figure out how to lock the front door upon leaving the unit, but after leavimg from rear entry, we often entered the unit from the front door.

Quick Memorial Day stay

Overall the property was great. It’s an older building so imperfections are to be expected but it was well kept and the location was with in walking distance to all the tourist spots but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Our only issues were with parking. There was another car in the parking spot labeled for our apartment. I called the management company and was instructed to park in the next spot over but I was fearful the whole weekend we would be towed. Everything ended up fine but it was still just a bit of added stress. Also, one day we had heavy rainfall and there was some very minor flooding.

Beautiful property!

The personal touches were very nice and "homey". Had a few small issues like not being able to use the front door due to no key! Also had a musty odor, and on the last night of our stay it poured and water came in under the wall due to the gutters above being clogged!! I assume the "musty" smell was due to previous water damage.

Good Location but Dark

The property was a good location- handy to historical district- main complaint was how very dark the apt was - all lights needed to be on to make it mildly lit up- the pictures on the site must have had a lot of lighting to make it look that bright. Nicely appointed with furniture and art. Everything as shown on site. What made the dark apt worse was that there was no outside area to escape to. The garden in the back was not a nice place to be - NO effort made to make it look nice - turned over pots, messy, leaves everywhere- very disappointing and not somewhere you’d want to sit. We would walk to sit in the Square across the street instead. Bottom line - this is a nice apt - but know what you’re getting. Not sure the price to this one compared to others. Having said all this we loved Savannah!! beautiful place! The city is fun and a lot to do - we stayed a week- a bit long - 3-4 days does it.

Changing Dates for the Vacation

Although we were initially scheduled to visit Savannah earlier this fall, inclimate weather made that impossible. The competent staff at Lucky Savannah was able to move our stay to December at no additional cost. This in turn allowed us to enjoy a memorable getaway.

Beautiful Savannah….!

The location of this property was perfect. Great instructions to find and access the unit. We could walk to many “must see” attractions, parks, restaurants. The free “DOT” transportation was so close and easy to take. The property itself was wonderful for the most part. Comfortable bed. Spacious unit. Your own parking space. Washer and dryer. Adequate kitchen…I did not cook…I was on vacation…lol! The unit could use a good deep clean. Tiles…furniture. Musty smelling. Once you were inside for awhile, you got used to it. Not sure what that was from. Age of building? Moisture? Not sure. The courtyard was unusable. A little disappointing. Overgrown and you could not help but track vegetation in to the property….right into the bedroom. That sucked. A good pressure wash and trimming of vegetation would be a game changer. I think these things could be easily be fixed. Would I stay again? Absolutely. 100%!!! Just a few tweaks and it would be grand!! Thanks for having us! Musty Odor and Poor Maintenance

Unfortunately, our stay at the Chatham Square Garden Apartment was quite disappointing. The garden home we rented had an overpowering, musty odor that made it uncomfortable to breathe and difficult to sleep. I've stayed in garden apartments before and never encountered a smell this strong. This odor significantly affected our vacation in Savannah, as we avoided the home as much as possible. We notified Lucky Savannah of the issue on our first night, they responded the next morning. We were appreciative of their courteous and attentive approach. However, despite this, they were unable to provide a satisfactory solution. Maintenance was sent to the apartment that day to address the issue, but their attempt to mask the odor with an air freshener was unsuccessful. However, they successfully resolved a separate internet issue, for which we were grateful. Additionally, the home desperately needs a deep clean and refresh. The baseboards were filthy, the garden area was overgrown and not cared for, and too much furniture crowded the space, making it feel cluttered and even more uncomfortable. The furniture also smelled musty. We discovered that the property's visitor logbook contained reviews from previous guests who had similar experiences with the smell and maintenance issues. This confirmed that our encounter was not an isolated incident. Overall, although the location was excellent, we cannot recommend this location based on our experience and would not stay here again.

Charming in beautiful and quiet residential area on Chatham Sq. Surface clean but needs deep clean - windows, corners, etc. Courtyard could be great but badly in need of maintenance . Savannah tap water everywhere in the city tastes just awful - plan accordingly.

First time to Savannah

For a property built in the 1870's the building was in good condition and was in a great location to many historical things to see in Savannah. The apartment had many beautiful furnishings. Having a washer and dryer were very convenient. But, there are things that need to be improved on to make it a viable rental. *There was a very musty smell most of the time. Updating the ventilation and adding air purifiers would possibly help the musty odor. *The property could use a really thorough cleaning. *A new couch, living room chair and mattress are needed. * The plants in the courtyard need to be cleaned out. Everything was so over grown. The grill there was totally not useable. There were steps leading out to the parking spot that were so awkward....a handrail needs to be installed. Someone could fall. We had a problem getting in initially, but the property manager was quick to help with that issue. Savannah is a beautiful city to visit, but we won't be staying at this property.

Nice location, place needs a thorough cleaning and upgrade

The location was nice, we enjoyed the city and surrounding area. The antuque furniture was charming, however, the floors in the apt. we're dirty, and the couch and bed mattress need to be replaced, they are uncomfortable.

Inside was as advertised. Had everything we needed. Instructions for parking and internet need updating - they are incorrect. The outside back garden needs alot of attention. Cigarette butts, trash, overturned bins, broken outdoor furniture...and the garden has not been kept up.

Savannah Historic District getaway

Great location and easy process for check in. Lucky Savannah team were easy to deal with and very helpful. Please not the unit had NO musty odor or mold which was noted in a previous review by another prior tenant. During our stay the unit was in good shape. We truly enjoyed our week in the Historic District. Too much to see in one week. I suggest you educate yourself on the parking system, use of Uber and garage locations it will enhance your experience. The private parking spot is an added bonus for this rental.

Great location

The property's location was fantastic. Seconds away from great parks, minutes to great restaurants, and a pleasant 20 minute walk to the waterfront. The staff were excellent and replied immediately to any of our questions. Would definitely stay here again.
