"Even though the area seemed like it was just farm land, we were less than 15 minutes from the heart of town. We could even hear the ships horns and see the smoke from their stacks as they went down the St Mary’s River while sitting on the deck. It was a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. The home was nicely laid out and felt like home. I would highly recommend it!"

"My partner, dog and I came to sugar island to experience a new place in the UP and we will certainly be returning to Sweet Retreat!! Sheri and Jeff were the most accommodating of hosts and truly go above and beyond to ensure everyone’s comfort and fun. We used the bikes on the property and were lucky enough to take a pontoon cruise with the hosts our last night. The cabin was absolutely adorable and had everything we needed. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough! We can’t wait to come back!"

"Very clean, great location, well-appointed with a lot of nice features like ceiling fans everywhere, even in the bathrooms, lots of comfortable seating inside and out, plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, and just about anything you need in the kitchen! The ships going by day and night were amazing and beautiful. We even had a glimpse of the Northern Lights! We loved our stay and hope to be back!"

"From the moment I walked in it felt like home. The room had an old time vibe with a velvet settee, leather upholstered chairs and a large palm in the corner.The kitchenette was stocked with essentials for minimum cooking but include a induction cooktop with pan. Nice mini fridge, coffe pot and microwave as well. The beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Plenty of towels and bedding too. For my needs I am extremely happy with the lodgings and would go back when the occasion arises.I must...
