AMORE RENTALS - Villa Olimpia with Pool, Garden, Ideal for Weddings
This sumptuously designed and decorated Tuscan country house, set in a prime hilltop location in the Val d’Orcia, is an idyllic wedding venue
With wide-open views across Tuscany’s cherished Val d’Orcia, and bags of space both inside and out, Villa Olimpia is a mesmerising blend of old-world charm and stylish contemporary luxury.
Top location for views and sightseeing
The villa’s location is second to none. Leaving aside the magnificent views of the valley and rolling hills, the villa is close to some of Tuscany’s most charming towns and landscapes.
Take day trips to the big-hitting names of Siena and Florence, or hop across into Umbria to visit Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto and Perugia.
For wine aficionados, there are the vineyards around Montalcino and Montepulciano, and for foodies, the fabulous pecorino cheese for which nearby Pienza is renowned.
The villa is also in prime position for golfers, with 3 golf clubs within an hour or so by car: the 9-hole Val di Chiana and Lamborghini Panicale Golf Clubs, and the 18-hole Perugia Golf Club.
Tasteful modern design and original features
Villa Olimpia’s refurbishment was undertaken following its acquisition in the ’90s by a renowned interior designer. The result is a warmly welcoming and generously proportioned luxury home with décor and furnishings that have been conceptualised, designed and manufactured by the owners. Handmade soaps and olive oil, embroidered towels and bathrobes, and even the dining table, are the fruits of their design. But the original features remain, whether in the form of imposing stone fireplaces, lofty vaulted ceilings or terracotta tiled flooring.
Expansive lawns, terraces and infinity pool
The villa looks out over 3 acres of emerald lawns, orchards and vineyards. For wedding parties, a vine-clad pergola provides the ultimate spot for an alfresco ceremony, while the other garden highlight is a 20m infinity pool, heated throughout the year, and seemingly extending across the lawns to the hills beyond.
To one side of the villa, a vegetable and flower garden ensures an ongoing supply of fresh herbs, vegetables and cut flowers. Alongside the kitchen garden are a jacuzzi and table tennis table.
Overlooking the pool deck, the main outdoor dining terrace is the perfect blend of original features and aesthetic appeal, with a magnificent stone barbecue grill and elegant custom-made dining table. Shade comes in the form of an original beamed wooden awning, and doorways lead from here into the lounge and kitchen. A second outdoor living area is furnished with comfy lounge chairs and a table.
Comfort, space and aesthetic appeal
Villa Olimpia is designed to accommodate large groups in hotel-style luxury. There are two entrances: a more formal ground-floor entrance through a main door close to the parking area, and a more informal entrance into the magnificent kitchen. This is the archetypal Tuscan kitchen, complete with everything you’d need for large-scale catering and a dining table for 14, which can be extended for larger parties.
The kitchen leads directly into the living room, the beating heart of the villa. This generously sized room, with its exquisite lofty vaulted ceiling, has a fabulous stone fireplace and has been warmly decorated, with vivid red and purple cushioned armchairs and sofas.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
There are 8 bedrooms, split across the ground and first floor. Sensitively restored and retaining many original features, each is individually styled with strategically placed furniture and eclectic artworks.
Ground floor
• Bedroom 1: Accessed via a small corridor near the main entrance to the villa. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
• Bathroom 1: En-suite, with shower.
• Bedroom 2: Double bedroom, accessed from the garden, with a living room and en-suite bathroom.
