"Recently stayed at The Union Gables Inn for my wife's birthday and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Everything from the location (so close to downtown and the horseracing museum/race track - both within a very quick walk), the building (my wife was in love with the room, the victorian architecture and antiques) and the staff (all so friendly and eager to help or chat). "Property is historic and in that style. Breakfast buffet was excellent. I was concerned about rugs in halls having several ridges that could cause fall. Should be fixed. Carpet in room was fine,"

"The staff was friendly. They had the wrong room for us when we went to check-in, so we had to wait another 30+ minutes to check-in. That was frustrating, but we were offered a beverage and snack for each of us. Once you get past the lobby, the space is dated, but everything was clean. "I felt this hotel was overpriced for what I got. They had to change my room because the dark window shade was broken and wouldn’t open at all. That room was dark and depressing. I didn’t understand how to raise and lower the temperature in my room. The staff member’s solution was to have me just reave it off which was not a good solution. "The Shuttle drivers were excellent, as were most of the staff we encountered. It was a nice historic hotel and had a nice atmosphere. Disappointments however were that there was no breakfast service the two days we were there...and no Spa opportunity on Tuesday because the Spa was closed Tuesday.
