Mountain Silence Retreat

Summary:

We designed this place in a minimalist MCM style to feel clean, comforting and inviting from the moment you walk in. Tucked up into the hills of Tenjin, it’s a peaceful mountain retreat surrounded by nature, with everything you need to slow down, settle in and enjoy Otaru.



The views change with every season. Green mountains in every direction through summer, a burst of color in fall, and snow-covered peaks in winter. You’re perfectly positioned for access to all 7 ski resorts in the Otaru region, while still being just a short drive from downtown for izakayas, sushi, local shops and the famous Otaru Canal.



Every piece of the house was designed with intention. Open spaces, warm textures, simple details and carefully chosen furniture all come together to make the home feel spacious, calm and comfortable.



Whether you’re here to ski, explore Otaru, spend time in nature or simply enjoy a quiet few days in the mountains, this is a place designed to make you want to stay a little longer.



The Space:

The house is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom space designed with modern comforts while keeping Japanese design and simplicity in mind.



One bedroom features a queen bed, while the second has two twin beds. The tatami room adds even more flexibility, with two additional futons, giving the house plenty of room to comfortably sleep up to 6 guests.



The bathroom features double sinks for added convenience. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook at home, and the 6-person dining table makes sure there’s room for everyone to sit down, eat and enjoy the space together.



Outside, there is parking for up to 2 cars.



Everything was designed to make the house feel simple, comfortable and easy to live in, whether you’re staying for a quiet weekend in the mountains or a longer trip with friends or family.



Guest Access:

It's a private stand alone home with parking for 2 cars.



The Neighborhood:

Its located in the hills of Tenjin. A quiet neighborhood in Otaru with easy access to skiing but also quick access to downtown.



Getting Around:

The house is a 5 minute walk to the bus stop that will take you directly to downtown Otaru and the train station.



Its also a 30 minute or less drive to all 7 ski resorts in the area.



Interaction with Guests:

Check in is remote. We will provide you with a key code 2 days before check in :). If you need us we are only a message away.
