The Balearic island of Menorca is the quieter and unspoilt version of its big sisters Mallorca and Ibiza.
Although it is partly known for its traditional summer festivals, which take place in different towns on the island throughout the summer (the origins date back to the 14th century), it really is the perfect place for those who appreciate a quieter and slower pace of life.
In addition to its traditional festivals, Menorca is more visited for its white sandy bays such as Pregonda and Cala Macarella, its clear turquoise waters and its gentler activities such as walking (very nice hikes), cycling or horseback riding. With a coastline punctuated by beautiful coves and a landscape that has been awarded the status of an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, dotted with ancient stone monuments and about 70,000 km of dry stone walls, it is an island for nature lovers, and for all those looking for a little rest and relaxation.
Binibeca offers a selection of lively restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops, as well as many natural wonders just a few kilometres away. Although there are many others in the surrounding area, one particularly beautiful local attraction is Cala Binipartrix, a sheltered cove including a limestone gorge with a sandy beach.
Binibeca beach itself is ideal for families, with beautiful, soft, sandy shores, and shallow waters ideal for families with young children. It is also one of only five beaches in Menorca that was awarded the Blue Flag in 2016 for its high standards of quality and safety. We recommend enjoying a drink at the famous Los Bucaneros beach bar that juts out onto the rocks, with plenty of seating and picturesque views of the bay.
