This boutique hotel was such a charming spot! The property itself is beautiful, and the location is perfect if you want to walk around and explore Old San Juan.
The check-in process was smooth, but unfortunately, the staff didn’t share much information. For example, I had no idea breakfast was available on the terrace—I only discovered it on the second-to-last day when I went up to sit in the sun. A staff member asked if I’d like to order, and I was surprised! On our last morning, we finally had breakfast and mimosas there, and it was fantastic. The staff was attentive, and the food was so good that I would have gladly eaten there every morning had I known earlier.
The main downside was the room experience. Right after check-in, we went out for food, and when we returned, one of the decorative pillows was missing. When I asked the front desk about it, I was told no one had been in the room—which left me uneasy. The bed also had crumbs and later some sort of crusty residue on it, so we ended up buying a sheet set from Marshall’s to cover it ourselves. This made us feel a bit uncomfortable and almost had us leaving early. Our room (2A) also had no windows, which made it damp and musty.
That said, I want to highlight some positives: the bartender was wonderful! He handled a group of cruise ship guests who came in a bit rude and had them laughing and relaxed in no time—such a great presence. And overall, aside from the room issues, the rest of the staff was welcoming and kind.
