Wonderful beach cottage

Property was great, good size, comfy and best part was the back patio. Good location within walking distance to Sunset Cliffs and OB Newport Ave.

Comfortable Cottage Near the Ocean

We had a wonderful stay! The cottage was very comfortable and cozy. It was a bit chilly to eat outside while we were there but the back patio was lovely. The plants and landscaping around the cottage were divine. Great location and quiet neighborhood. We look forward to staying again!

Sunset Vibes

We stayed 4 nights and absolutely LOVED the privacy & charm of the old home with the indoor fireplace and outdoor kitchen/patio. We were in walking distance to the cliffs for hiking, and Newport Ave for the local culture. Every cab ride was only 10 minutes to our destination and we really packed it all in. The house was in pristine condition and had everything we desired. It couldn't of been any better!!

Really nice place

Took the kids for 4th of July week. Place is great and if it was just my wife and I it would have been perfect. For a 4 & 6 year old the walk into town was a little far. And Ocean Beach as a whole is much more suited for adults and older kids. But would definitely stay again when they’re older. Really great set up. Very grateful. Thank you.

Phenomenal Location

Just an absolutely wonderful location and house. Far enough from OB to be separate from all of the activity, yet close enough to walk to the main area. The house was very clean and well-kept, as well as the decor. An absolute beautiful backyard and patio to relax after a long day. The next time I’m in San Diego, I will definitely stay here.

A Hidden Gem

Tucked away on Orchard Street, this lovely cottage has all the comforts of home- and then some! The cozy den with its gas fireplace, the eat in kitchen and comfy queen size bed are welcoming indoor amenities. But the star feature for us is the extensive outdoor living space, with its beautiful gardens, amply sized dining area, grill and outdoor fireplace area. What a treat! Highly recommend this property!

Perfect for us.

Spotlessly clean. Great location in Ocean Beach. Lots of room to spread out. Loved the private back patio area (with an orange and a lime tree….cool for an east coast person) for coffee in the morning while still in pjs and we were able to have a few friends over for burgers one night and had plenty of room to entertain. Two heads up. They are not kidding when they say Ocean Beach is in the flight path of the San Diego airport. And the pull out couch (ie second bedroom) is definitely not as comfortable as the very very comfortable bed in the main bedroom. Fine for kids or in my case a 20 something kid. Having two bathrooms was great! I would definitely stay here again.

Comfort near the beac

Wonderful one bedroom with 2 bedrooms Bleach house. We enjoyed the outside patio with a fireplace and the house in general. Spend the cool nights inside with near the fireplace. This is a very comfortable house for two.

Great cottage

We had a wonderful time at Smith Cottage! It was very clean and the perfect size for our family of 3. The dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer were very useful and we loved the outdoor space! The location is great for a family, it’s in a quiet neighborhood. It’s a little too far to walk to the beach (at least with kids) but you can easily walk to sunset cliffs where you have a great view of the sunset. It’s close to the airport but we weren’t bothered by the noise from the airplanes. There is one parking spot which was great because street parking is very hard to come by in this neighborhood. The space is not very big though so I wouldn’t recommend driving a large truck or SUV. We rented a Nissan Rouge and it fit just fine but I think we would have had a hard time fitting a vehicle that was any bigger than that. We had a wonderful time and would certainly consider this property again next time we return. Thank you!

PERFECT

My new husband and I stayed here in preparation for our La Jolla wedding. I was looking for a place that had enough space to have hair and make up done at the house the day of the wedding, as well as a quiet, home for my new husband and I to come back to. We are very familiar with Ocean Beach, having spending lots of time here (even living here in the past) and when we found this home we knew it would be perfect. The back yard is incredible and was great for a cookout the day after the wedding with our immediate families to thank them for traveling (from Cleveland OH). Check in was so easy, and the communication with property managers was open and available. The home was close enough to the main street (newport) to walk but far enough that it was a sweet, quiet neighborhood. We even met the front neighbors! We love OB and will certainly be back every year, from now until forever! -the Kennedys

Great for Families

The fact that this property has two bathrooms is so worth it. Very handy when dealing with teenagers. There were four of us and we were able to spread out. Never felt crowded or pressed for time getting ready. The backyard area is also awesome. Great space to hang out and relax. The sunsets that are a two minute walk down the street are amazing. I would happily book this property again for our next visit.

Wonderful charming cottage!

We had a very enjoyable stay. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Gas fireplace in the back sitting room was a joy on cool mornings and evenings. Nice new fluffy bath towels. Beautiful back courtyard with comfy lounge chairs and dining table and grill. Great location - 10-15 minute walk to Newport Ave center of town and short walk to the coast. Parking spot was a definite plus but spot was small so get a compact car. More than we wanted to spend but made our trip enjoyable.

Thanksgiving getaway

Our family really enjoyed our time at Smiths Cottage! The location is great, quiet and a quick drive to many popular places! My husband and I are morning runners, the views along the cliffs for our morning runs were simply amazing! The house is the perfect space for a small family or couple (or two) looking to get away. Clean and cozy with everything you'd need for your stay. I'd definitely stay here again!

A Perfect Place in an Ideal Location For Our Trip

A comfortable, well appointed house with a spectacular private patio. We enjoyed every minute in this property. Everything was as we had hoped for. The space worked. Except for the jets flying overhead, the neighborhood was quiet and easy to get in and out of. Being on a direct bus route into downtown was an extra unexpected plus. Being able to enjoy morning coffee and dinner on the patio made our stay in October a true California experience. The property was conveniently located to shopping and dining and within walking distance of the beach. Having two dedicated parking spots made driving very convenient. With easy access to the freeways, exploring Greater San Diego was easy. The owners provided some nice touches to the property. The place was nicely furnished with many mid century modern pieces of furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. The property management company was very responsive to any issues that we had.We would not hesitate to stay at the Smith's cottage anytime in the future.

Very clean and the back yard was so cool, BBQ, fire place and great lighting.

We had a wonderful stay! This house is on a quite street, very clean and organized. Walking distance to beach and lots of great restaurants and bars. The back yard was perfect for outdoor dining, bbq, fire place and great lighting.

Wonderful stay at Smith Cottage!

We couldn't have been happier with the accommodations at the "Smith Cottage." We have stayed in several VRBO rentals at OB to visit our daughter and this one will be our "go to" for visits to come! The outdoor space is amazing... a perfect place if you love outdoor cooking and a relaxing gathering spot! Of course, we visited during the hottest time in San Diego, so please note there is no air conditioning. One suggestion may be providing a few more fans. This is not a negative at all... this cottage is wonderful. The kitchen is well equipped, a comfortable family room space to relax, plenty of luxurious towels which I cannot imagine how anyone could fold in so many creative ways!! Loved that we could walk out the door and take a nice walk along sunset cliffs in a matter of minutes... this is a great OB location! We highly recommend this property and will look no further when visiting OB again!

A Wonderful Beach Cottage!

The cottage was super clean, tastefully decorated, and comfortable! The patio area was spacious, quiet, and perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.The only drawbacks were the TVs with 4 remotes and unclear instructions. We will return!
