Couples Rural Retreat – Shepherd’s Hut at Hilltop

Escape to the South Hampshire countryside at The Shepherd’s Hut at Hilltop Farm, a peaceful and secluded retreat for couples looking to slow down, switch off and reconnect with nature.



Tucked away along a quiet country lane and surrounded by woodland and 10 acres of private land, this back-to-nature hideaway is made for unhurried days and peaceful evenings. Explore scenic walking, cycling and horse-riding trails, enjoy wildlife watching and forest bathing, or simply relax among the trees and open fields. A friendly Shetland pony grazes nearby, adding to the rural charm.



Despite its secluded setting, Hilltop Farm is within easy reach of the New Forest and historic Romsey, perfect for days spent exploring before returning to the peace of the countryside.



In the evenings, cook outdoors, gather around the firepit beneath the stars or simply enjoy the sounds of nature. Your retreat comprises five shepherds’ huts thoughtfully spaced throughout the grounds, offering plenty of space and privacy. The bathroom hut features a roll-top bath with shower taps; please note there is no stand-up shower.



Good to know:

-The beds are cosy and may not suit taller guests, while the second sleeping hut has a small double daybed.

-There is no heating inside the huts. Due to the distance between them, lighting and mobile phone charging sockets are available only in the two sleeping huts.

-Sheep may occasionally graze nearby and some areas are fenced for safety. The access track is rural and uneven, so low-clearance vehicles should approach with care.

-Please note that the garden is not enclosed and the surrounding boundaries include electric fencing and barbed wire. Only small, well-behaved dogs are permitted at the property. Due to nearby livestock, dogs must be closely supervised at all times and kept on a lead whenever necessary.

-There is an unfenced pond on site. Any children visiting must be supervised at all times. Any additional guests must be arranged in advance.

-During periods of high temperatures or drought, fire bowls and BBQs may be unavailable for safety reasons.
