Deerberry Cottage (Hocking Hills Area)

Deerberry Cottage is a three bedroom, one bath cottage located in the Holiday Haven community in Rockbridge, Ohio. Located about 30 minutes from popular Hocking Hills attraction. This cottage offers beautiful views of the wooded surroundings, from the large picture windows on the front of the house, the large deck and the seven person hot tub.

Holiday Haven is a private community that has a mix of other vacation rentals and full time residence. Guests have access to a community lake that has a fishing dock, beach, swimming area and picnic shelter.

Deerberry is located on a private drive within the Holiday Haven Community. This cottage features a fully equipped kitchen, full bath with a tub/shower combo, and three bedrooms. There are activities for the whole family to enjoy, hiking around the property, board games, retro gaming system and a Roku Smart TV. Sit on the front deck and watch the deer and wildlife, or head to the community lake to swim, fish, and enjoy the beach.

Please be advised there is a steep hill leading to the cottage, 4WD/AWD is recommended. With most providers, you will lose cell service a few minutes before arriving at the cottage. We encourage guests to save or print the access instructions and directions to the cottage.

Please note, there is another cabin on the property that does share the trails. It is located about 500 feet up the hill from the cottage.

For the security of our guests and the safety of our home we will have an external security camera located on the front of the shed facing the parking area.

Cell service is very limited in the area. Internet is provided, but can be slow and spotty at times. Streaming is not guaranteed. Due to the location, we do experience occasional outages out of our control.

Beautiful place

I loved the scenery it was such a beautiful stay. The cabin was very clean. The only downfall is no service but i wouldnt rate that because overall it was an excellent stay.

Absolutely amazing!

The initial cabin I rented had an issue with the hot tub. Chelsea messaged me in a timely manner and offered to move me to another cabin, this one being much larger, at no additional cost. Her customer service was above and beyond and I am looking forward to book through Venture Cabins again!

The cabin was clean and easy enough to find however not as secluded as as we expected from the listing and there was light construction going on at a couple of places near us and we were hearing saws and hammering quite often. Also the deadbolt on the deck door did not work however that did not really bother anyone. Now the good news is when it was peaceful it was near perfect.

Weekend stay

Beautiful view of trees and close to Hocking Hills. Our family loves to cook and although the kitchen was small it was perfect for our weekend getaway. The fireplace area was also very nice and we even saw some deer in the late afternoon nearby!

We camp and are laid back so we had a great time. The property is nice. Chelsea was very helpful and responsive. Why the 3? Cobwebs, dirty windows, debris and dander under sheets on mattress pad (no bugs), no sink stoppers to do dishes, no curtains in one bedroom, full outside trashcan, odd smell. Iā€™m in VRBOā€™s 6-8 times/yr. None of the niceties of samples, common supplies, etc.

Perfect Getaway

My nephew said ā€œThis is my fantasy cabin! This is what my minecraft world would be!ā€ We all loved hanging out around the fire at night. It was close to Lake Logan and other Hocking Hills highlights. I wish we stayed longer!

GPS on the phone took us right to the doorstep. there was TV & WIFI...exceeded my expectations. there are visible cottages nearby, but still felt very private. no musty smells inside the cottage or funky well water smells either. lights did not work in the hot tub, but a rather minor issue if an issue at all. not too far from columbus and about a half hour driver to the old man's cave trails. i will be back.

The house needs updating. Needs better cleaning, there were cobwebs on the ceilings, the hot tub inside was full of sand, the windows were dirty, the outside lights didn't all work. Overall a good place, and if these points don't bother you, then this is a good place for a family holiday. But for such quality the price should be lower.

Quiet cottage in the woods

I spent the weekend at the cottage with my husband, 2 teenage sons, Dad and brother for my dads birthday. The cottage sits back aways on a private drive with some other homes. We have an SUV, so had no problem with the hill. I liked that there was a hot tub but we didnā€™t get in. I really liked the fire pit area with the lights. We saw some deer in the woods right by us. I do recommend adding a curtain in the bunk bed room. My kids were a little creeped out. I saw there was a curtain on the shelf so I think the rod must of broke?

Nice for a hiking weekend in Hocking Hills

The property looks just like the listing pictures. Linens and towels are nice and beds are soft and comfy. We didn't use the hot tub but peeked in and it was clean. The kitchen has enough of the basics, cups, cutlery, dishes, pots. If you need something specific you should ask ahead because its just the basics, but it worked for us. We also enjoyed the fire ring. The reviews that talked about the hill made too much of it. It is steep but short and plenty of room to avoid the ruts that might give a car trouble.

Perfect for adults as well as kids. Plenty of space to spread out and everyone enjoy themselves. Hot tub was clean. Only downside was there were not TVs in the bedrooms so all the kids migrated to the living area to sleep

I donā€™t really have any complaints. These cabins arenā€™t brand new, but I thought it was updated nicely. Did get a few ants, but again, itā€™s a cabin in the woods. I give it 5 stars. I would stay again!

Moms only weekend!

I brought with me my mother, my two sister-in-laws and my bff. We all needed to get away for the weekend and just unwind from the daily grind! The cabin was remote, had a hot tub, had enough beds that we didnā€™t have to share and was just fantastic!

Girls Weekend

We were not aware of the road to the cabin till the day before, my car would have gotten stuck in the deep struts that where in the steep hill going up to the cabin. This can be really hard for a small car or low body car. The cabin itself needs to be updated! The kitchen cabinet doors are falling off, the bedroom dressers were not functional, the air would not come on at night as if there was a hold on the air, this also caused a loud clicking sound all night. The bathroom door makes a very loud noise. The furniture is very old and needs updated. There was no dry wood even though there was plenty of places to put wood for renters out of the weather there wasnā€™t any. The lights outside around the fire pit needs replaced a lot of the lights are not working. For next renters; bring your own outdoor chairs, wood, pizza pan, paper plates, paper cups, wine glasses, and dish clothes. The renters book also needs to be updated. There was also close by shooting of someone practicing rifle shooting, the location has many other renters close by. Ending on a positive; the location is beautiful, we had deer come through, the hot tub was clean, the owner responds quickly, and we had a great time!
