Explore the picturesque medieval town of Roccastrada in the Colline Metallifere Grossetane park in the north of Maremma, which benefits from its charming location, on an igneous rock, with sweeping views of the surrounding plain and Monte Amiata in the distance. There is an abundance of medieval villages and towers in the park, of which Montemassi and Roccatederighi are particularly worth a visit. Montemassi is a labyrinth of narrow alleyways carved into the rock. Roccatederighi, on the other hand, is beautifully hidden among the trachyte rocks that give it its unique character in the surrounding landscape. The Tuscan coast with its wide sandy beaches can be reached by car, as can the thermal baths of Petriolo and the beautiful, often overlooked provincial capital of Grosseto.
