At certain times of the year — especially in spring — waves may carry to shore Velella velella (also known as “by-the-wind sailors”), small jellyfish-like marine organisms that are a natural indicator of clean water and a healthy ecosystem. Their presence may occasionally result in a mild organic scent in the air — a completely natural occurrence and in no way related to the cleanliness of the home. It is a rare and short-lived phenomenon, and part of the authentic experience of staying in such an unspoiled environment.
