Xanadu - Zen waterfront retreat on Upper Rideau

Summary:
This glorious escape on the Upper Rideau is quiet, relaxing, and incredibly private located back from the water and surrounded by woods. Venture down to the dock to swim, lounge, or watch boats go by. Dogs are welcome but should be leashed by dusk to avoid meeting skunks or porcupines who frequent the area.

The Space:
Shoot a game of pool, watch Netflix on our 65" flat screen TV, or unwind in the hot tub while the crickets serenade you. Walk along our natural rock wall, which was painstakingly revealed after a year of hard work by the previous owners. A variety of colourful birdhouses and extensive gardens complete the beauty of the backyard space.

6 can sleep comfortably in 2 king beds and 1 queen bed. Two full bathrooms (one with stand up shower and one with soaker tub) for ease of getting ready or showering off after a lake dip. Avid coffee drinkers will enjoy the array available at our home: Nespresso, Keurig, ground and whole bean. The choice is yours!

My favourite stay!

I booked this space for close friends and family to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed the comfortable spaces, beds, the hot tub, pool table, camp/stove fires, and the BBQ. The space was immaculate when we arrived and our hosts had everything ready and available for us. Itā€™s the most pleasant experience I have had with a property rental and I am so grateful. On top of everything else, the highlight of the property is how nestled in nature it feels, surrounded by deer, birds and other small wildlife who made the trip even better. Thank you!

Amazing

A magnificent property that fully delivers on the promise in the listing. Our hosts were attentive and gracious ā€“ we loved the fluffy robes included in every room, and the welcome note and chocolates are a nice touch. The property is stunning and quiet with birdhouses and feeders in abundance to create a near constant show of blue jays, cardinals, and various other species. Daily visits from the family of deer were a highlight for sure. The cottage is beautiful ā€“ high end furnishings, very clean, and with everything we needed to cook all our meals. The wood burning fireplace is great for ambiance as well as heat, and the pool table got plenty of use! We were able to visit several great hiking trails within a short drive. This was a perfect spot for a family retreat and lasting memories.

Beautiful property

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Morning or afternoon, there is a lovely shaded place to sit and relax. The deer that roam through the property in the morning and evening were very entertaining. The kids loved the pool table. The lake front is clean and clear, great to swim off the dock. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The hosts responded quickly to our questions and were very helpful in ensuring we had a great stay. It was one of our best cottage vacations.

Our family of 5 adults and an infant thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. There are many options to choose from to either just relax or be entertained with yard games, the hot tub, the lake and the beautiful gardens. We hope to return again!

Wonderful

Had a wonderful week at Xanadu with my husband and our little dog Skye. Perfect house with everything you could wish for for a relaxing getaway. The lake is beautiful and the friendly deer that visited each day was a real treat, there were also beautiful birds daily at all the bird feeders around the grounds. Westport itself has some lovely gift shops and restaurants. Booking was made very easy and any questions answered immediately and great experience all round.

Everything we could have wanted

We were delighted with our experience at Xanadu! From the beautiful location, lovely comfortable home with such a welcoming feeling! It was obvious this is a well cared for home and all the attention to details was impressiveā€¦ we also appreciated the extras everywhere, from treats to firewood and bathrobes!!! Great place with two things to improve on

Overall your getting exactly what is being advertised. Its an unbelievable piece of property. Two items that we think should be addressed, there's a semi-public boat launch right next to the private dock and we weren't made aware so you will have people driving through the property and launching their boats... all day while your trying to chill. Also they are still using the wire brush type cleaners for the BBQ which these days is a big no-no.

Wonderful property

Lovely home In a beautiful location. All the beds were comfortable and the house is warm and inviting. Kitchen is a little dated but functional. We all enjoyed the hot tub, feeding the deer and shooting pool. It was a perfect stay! Thank you!

Great time

The property was amazing. The area was so quiet and re;axing did not want to leave. The hot tub at night looking up at the stars was priceless. And to top it off the fishing was almost non stop.

My first rental experience

This was my first time ever renting a property. The entire renting process was seamless from beginning to end. A+ to vrbo and breathe vacation rentals! The idea was to get a ā€œcottageā€ not too far from Ottawa (home). This property is not a cottage but a beautiful home! I was so pleasantly surprised by how perfect everything was. The hosts supplied everything even stocking the kitchen with milk and cream and some staples in the pantry. They were wonderful to deal with and I would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a getaway to a beautiful lake property! I wouldnā€™t hesitate to use vrbo and breathe vacation rentals again. I found what I was looking for and so much more!

This cabin is picture perfect and beyond cozy!

This cabin has everythingā€¦ we have never stayed in a better appointed cabin. Food to feed the deer, blankets by the fire, hot cocoa, wine and everything in between. It was so clean and had everything we needed. The jacuzzi was amazing, the view is great, the cabin was warm and inviting.
