"A really lovely couple of nights at Holly Lodge. The hospitality shown from Kirsty and Barbara was 1st class and couldn’t have wished for a more welcoming and homely stay. "We chose this hotel based on reviews, but we're very disappointed. We new this was not a 5-star hotel, but we'd expect it to be a lot better. Our first room was very bad, but among other problems the worst was the fact that it was dirty and the room smelled dirty feet. Even pillows smelled bad, so we asked to change room. The staff was really nice, extremely polite and helpful and problem was sorted fast, but we don't think we'll use this or any other Holiday Inn Express again. "

"We arrived in Windermere about 9pm and all restaurants was closed. We thought the hotel restaurant could be opened and we drove to the hotel. Our surprise was the hotel restaurant was closed! When we told the recepcionist (Keneth), we had not have dinner yet he crossed the world to find something for us to eat. He called an chinese restaurant in a near city, ordered our food and prepared the bar with dishes, cutlery and all stuffs to us to eat. He was the best person ever in hotels to attend...

"Our room was on ground floor with a hot tub. Facilities were good and the bed was very comfortable. Some elements were a little tired. Staff were outstanding and responsive to all requests and questions. Nice dining area and presentation. Great central location to Grasmere village. Our only issue is that parking can be a lottery - but staff were happy to help."
