Excellent stay, nice apartment
The rooms were very nice, decor very pleasant, nice touches. The basement apt. has low ceilings and two beams that were very low. My husband is 6ft5 so this was a problem for him. The wifi signal was weak. However, the host was great, the place was spotless and it was obvious they cared about providing a cozy place to stay. I would recommend it, but not if you are over 6 ft tall.

The property was in a quiet part of Portland where real Portlanders live. (Not too touristy) The bedroom was super cozy, almost too much, as the bed pretty much took up the entire space so there wasn’t room to walk along the sides, we crawled up it from the end. But it worked fine.

Good location for us
We wanted to be in striking distance of south Portland, but out of the bustle. My wife usually likes lots of light. Our below ground unit didn't have that, but the art and decor made up it. Very clean and well appointed. I've never even seen a towel heater for my shower before.

A few blocks from where we use to live so we know the area well. The space was comfortable altho the bedroom was a bit tight. We had everything we needed & it was very clean. We would definitely refer this property & possibly stay again. Thank you.

Nice place to stay
Nicely done property. The listing stated that the unit was on the first floor. I did not realize that it was actually a basement unit. No way to control the AC. The online pictures did a good job of making it look larger than it was. There was also a smell of fuel oil when first entering the unit. Cheryl (who was covering for Elie) was terrific! She and the cleaning person came over and did everything they could to improve the smell and our stay. The odor did get better.

Clean, Safe Stay in Portland
Our stay was convenient and pleasant in every way. Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood with easy street parking in front of the unit. Southwest is a beautiful area of Portland with nice parks near by. The unit is perfect for a couple- not huge- but designed well for the compact space. Comfortable bed, nice bedding, very clean and the host was friendly and communicative. I liked his photography art as well. Would stay again and recommend this VRBO.

Portland visit to see our son in school at OHSI
We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed coffee every morning on the hammock chairs. Ended each night in the same spot with an adult beverage. Walked to the downtown area on our last night for some delicious ice cream. It was very convenient being so close to our son's school.

This is indeed a gem!
We stayed at the Multnomah Gem for the Memorial Day weekend. We had good communication with the host, Elie, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The basement apartment is cosy and has been very well renovated with excellent use of the space. It was a busy weekend for us, but we enjoyed sitting in the garden for a while; it was very peaceful. The location is excellent too - what a beautiful neighbourhood! All-in-al we had a great introduction to Portland and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this VRBO.

Great place to stay for a trip to OHSU
We stayed here while my husband had a procedure at OHSU. The location was a less than 15 minute drive to OHSU. The apartment was well equipped. It was easy to find and park in front of and we found the owner easy to work with. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. It is a basement apartment and it did not have much natural light. The few small windows were higher on the walls. The ceilings felt low. The bedroom was so small that the queen bed was against a wall and so only one side was accessible for getting on and off the bed, but it was a super comfortable bed. The bathroom and kitchen were recently remodeled and nice. The couch in the living room converted easily into a bed and was comfortable. The spaces are on the small side, but the apartment worked well for us.

Perfect Location
We had a great time last week at this property. It is clean, comfortable, and perfect for two people. The apartment had wonderful small touches (free coffee, towel warmers, comfy beds/pillows). We loved being able to walk into Multnomah Village and be minutes from downtown Portland. We will definitely try to stay here again!

Great base for Portland Waterfront
Lovely neighborhood and retreat. Well appointed and comfortable for a basement apartment. Elie was a very responsive and attentive host. The bed was very comfortable. If you are a senior or over 6'5" I would not recommend it for these reasons. There are stairs down to the apartment and the driveway and stairs are not lighted at night. Could be dangerous. Some of the remodeling involved enclosing pipes or heating ducts causing low pass ceiling dips which you can bump your head on if very tall. Other than those two things it is very modern and livable in a very nice neighborhood which is very quiet and safe.

There is usually outdoor lighting all across the property including the stairs. Light must have died in that area. We'll get it fixed immediately

Good Neighborhood, Cute Place!
Located in a safe, cute area that’s walking distance to coffee, restaurants and shops. Elie our host was very friendly and accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Great yard and nice, comfortable unit. Definitely recommend!

There are 2 rentals on the property. Mine was on a level below the main house. It was very clean and had what I would have needed if I wanted to stay at the place and cook. It was on the small side but was just right for me or a couple to use. It was within my walking distance of various restaurants and shops but was a few blocks into a nice eclectic neighborhood. There was an easy check in and out. and the wifi worked. I chatted with the host once but never needed any service. I would stay here again

Summary
Everything was clean. Didn't cook, but kitchen had good variety of pots, pans, and dishes. Didn't have a chance to enjoy the yard, but it was quite inviting.

nicely remodeled basement apartment with beautiful back yard access
The basement apartment is nicely remodeled and the host is excellent in responding and trying to accommodate any request. Being an unusually warm time, guests should know there is no A/C. There are fans and air. Being so humid, it can be a little damp smelling. Everything worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. Quiet neighborhood, so felt safe and the backyard is beautiful!

I'm sorry for the issue. There is definitely AC but it's controlled from upstairs in on rare and very humid days there is sometimes a discrepancy between the temperatures upstairs and downstairs. I will add vents downstairs to allow more cool air down there and solve the problem.

Nice Place in a Quiet Neighborhood
I enjoyed my stay here for a fun 5-day getaway. Communication with the hosts was great, and they were reaponsive to any inquiries/requests. The placenwas very clean, nice bathroom and decent bed/pillows. The backyard oasis is really charming and relaxing and the resident cat even paid us a visit. A great place to wind down with a book and a cold brew in the evening. The neighborhood is really cute and quiet with quick and easy access to the rest of the city.

Well located
It turned out there were only 2 of us which was perfect so that we didn't have to pull out the couch. For us, it was perfectly located to where we needed to be. Nice quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed Multnomah Village for breakfast, coffee, yarn, books.

Portland-Perfect!
The unit was charming & contained everything you need. The neighborhood is quiet & lovely. The backyard is an oasis. Only comments are: the futon is a great idea as an extra bed but not a comfortable sofa & the TV does not have the ability to stream. Otherwise, I loved it. Thank you!

Sorry you didn't like the sofa, however I hear from a lot of people that they love it. The TV is internet ready and by definition you can stream which means Amazon prime and Netflix all day long. I wish I was contacted and had a chance to help getting the streaming to go..

The unit was really nice and the garden beautiful. Perfect for a getaway to Portland.
The basement unit was spacious for a couple, it was beautifully furnished and the garden was such a relaxing place to unwind in after a days exploring. Elie is a super friendly and attentive host, I particularly appreciate how quickly he responds to questions. Multnomah Village is itself a beautiful neighborhood and only a bus ride from downtown Portland.

Very nice and very convenient
We stayed six nights at this lovely property. It was very clean and a great deal of thought has gone into making the apartment comfortable. Close to a Safeway and close to tasty restaurants. Our only issue was the last night, when the wi-fi went out and it didn’t get fixed but I don’t know if this was an issue with the owner (who lives on site) or the wi-fi provider. The other issue, also just the last night, was an inexplicable amount of noise from the owner’s residence (above our heads) after 10 pm (dishwasher? Washing machine? Clanging metal dog dishes? Unknown). Otherwise, great, and we would stay there again.

Thank you for a good review Greer. Wi-Fi turned out to be a dead mini hub which got fixed the following day. Has to the noise.. I was the only person upstairs and I fell asleep around 9:00 p.m. My dog and my cat are here but they are asleep when I am.. unless they were having a party and I wasn't invited :j

Great location and comfortable
Excellent location, beautiful yard, in the heart of Multnomah Village. The host is very nice, and we loved his dog! We had our teenage daughter with us, who slept on the futon. The only thing to be aware of is that you can hear everything in the unit between the living room and the one bedroom. However, this wasn't an issue for us. Very modern and private. Walk easily to the village.

Good location, Bathroom was under construction.
When we first showed up & saw the state of the bathroom we considered leaving. If this had been a hotel we would have immediately asked for another room. App stated fully titled bathroom & Apartment meticulously super clean. Neither were true. We decided to give it a try since we were extremely tired from the busy day of traveling & sightseeing that we had. We actually considered leaving this place multiple times, even without a refund. We stuck it out because we really didn't have the time or resources to search for a new location last minute, since we had plans for each of the days we were there. We took a lot of photos of the space & condition, as stated in the items reviewed. Below is our list of pros & Cons. Pros Location was excellent. It is in a great neighborhood, central to all popular sites in and around Portland. We felt very safe staying there as opposed to staying in the downtown area where there are countless homeless camps, which would not feel safe. Price is excellent for the area. There was plenty of street parking, an added bonus to not staying in a hotel that charges for parking. Heaters in living room and bedroom worked really well. Bed and bedding were comfortable. Side note: the bed is up against the wall so someone has to climb in and out. It wasn't a big deal for us but might be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Futon in living room was comfortable (when pulled open) for watching TV and relaxing at end of day. Cons Bathroom is still under construction. The 3 walls surrounding the toilet are completely unfinished. The showerhead is wrapped in foil tape, possibly to hold it in position or keep it from leaking. The shower curtain smells like a used wet mop. It is a stand-up shower only, with no showerpan securing the water from spreading across the floor of the rest of the bathroom. Bathroom included one bath mat, which was wet the whole time. Since no other bath mats were provided, the area beneath the sink remained wet after washing your hands so I had to buy my own towel to place on the floor. This also helped keep the bathroom dry, since were only provided one towel each. The toilet was not secured to the floor. It was wobbly & rocked side to side. The bathroom vanity light fixture was covered in a layer of dust. The walls throughout the hallway, living room, & bedroom were filthy. They each had what appeared to be various bodily fluids & grime. No smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors.

I'm sorry for this uniquely bed experience. It is however an overly stated response. The bathroom plumbing had to be repaired hence the drywall was patched and was not painted yet, hence the dust. It seems the cleaner forgot to put the second bathroom rug down. If Brad had notified me about it then it could have easily been taken care of. I don't understand why he didn't. Again I'm sorry for this and will make sure to have it not repeated here.

Quick Trip to Multnomah
This was our third time to Portland in the last 6 months, and this was by far our favorite area. We really enjoyed the apartment, it was easy clean and easy to get to other areas. It's also very close to the shopping and restaurants. We highly recommend Fat City for breakfast. The apartment was comfortable and we slept very well in the bed.

The property is clean and quiet. Coffee, sugar etc... are provided and the shower is out of this world!! Elie and his pup are gracious hosts. It's very close to our son and his family so it's nice to know we have a clean reliable place to stay when we visit. FMc

Cute and Cozy
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The little touches that just made it absolutely adorable and fun to just hang out and relax all afternoon. The only thing I noticed that it didn't have was some sort of blender ( I had brought my immersion blender so it was fine) but they provided anything else you might reasonably hope a bnb would have. Communication with owner was pleasant, and he checked to make sure I was comfortable. Very thoughtful. I hope to come back when it is warmer weather to relax around the pond. Highly recommend.

Amazing get away spot
My boyfriend and I came to celebrate halloween and his 22nd birthday! This little sport is the perfect place for two and everything is pretty much walking distance. The downtown area is extremely close but the neighborhood where the apartment is located is still very homey and quiet. There’s a Safeway walking distance away if you want to pick up a few groceries and the apartment has a stocked cookware supply for simple cooking. The place was very clean and the host was very welcoming would definitely recommend

Lovely place, slight misunderstanding
The apartment is a lovely place to stay at. It is everything the owner had listed; 1 bedroom with a kitchen and living room. Bathroom is under renovation but functional during our stay. I would recommend if you are only looking for a place. Please be aware that this property does not allow pet. When my wife and I were searching for a place to stay and had selected pet friend filter on as we had our pet with us for the trip. For some reason VRBO had shown this place as available. We assumed that this is a pet friendly location and proceeded with booking. We had asked the owner for assist regarding the internet connection as my wife and I were trying to work the next morning (which btw was not very stable even though the owner's post had suggested fast internet connection). The owner came down and immediately scolded us for having a pet inside. We explained to them that his property had shown up when we were searching with "pet friendly" filter on but he does not seem to be interested to learn that it is an honest mistake. Out of respect of the owner and his desire to not having pets in the property, we left his premise immediately at 8am. Bottom line, the place is a good place to stay if you are looking for a place to sleep, but nothing more. The overall experience was shattered when the owner freaked out on us. In the end, my wife and I offer to pay additional cleaning fee.

Nice location!
Everything was great. The bed was comfortable but one person had to climb out because one side was against a wall. And I love light and this is a basement apartment. Location was excellent. Beautiful neighborhood and fantastic restaurants nearby!
