You are invited to stay at Watercolor Cottage and you won’t want to miss this opportunity! Ideally located between picturesque Petoskey and Harbor Springs you will be just a short distance from all of the premiere “Up North” attractions.

Watercolor Cottage offers the perfect vacation getaway for a family. Enjoy swimming right out your doorstep, take a kayak or paddle board tour of Crooked Lake to The Black Hole Nature Preserve, or cast a fishing pole, all right from your own private dock. We also offer two boat moorings to safely keep your own boat. Crooked Lake is part of the Inland Waterways. So bring your own boat or rent one from a local marina. You also won’t want to miss the amazing sunsets each night while enjoying a campfire. The options of relaxing, fun family adventures, and exploring Northern Michigan are endless.

The designer decorated Watercolor Cottage offers 4 bedrooms and will accommodate 6 people. There is a fully furnished kitchen, outdoor grill and seating. Watercolor Cottage offers a truly relaxing and perfect retreat!

Nice getaway cottage for 2

We enjoyed our stay at Watercolor cottage. One family member canceled their stay with us but the home is the perfect size for 2 people. The lake front home was situated in a quiet location on Crooked Lake. There was house construction right next door but it was not really disruptive and the workers were there only 3 days. We enjoyed the wonderful views from the deck and used the complimentary kayaks a couple of times. We also enjoyed some of the nearby attractions/activities. The kitchen had everything we needed for the few days we cooked. Heather was quickly responsive to my questions and was available, if needed, for any issues. Our stay was quite relaxing and we'd recommend Watercolor to people looking for that type of getaway.

Charming little cottage- Gorgeous views!

Our stay at Watercolor Cottage was delightful. It's right on Crooked Lake--and the cottage is just a few steps from a first class private dock. The view from the cottage/dock was gorgeous--especially the sunset every evening. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing get away this is it. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very, very comfortable--one of the best we've slept on at a VRBO! If you enjoy water sports--you can kayak, sail with a small sunfish and jet ski on the lake. My husband rented a pontoon boat at the local marina and he went out fishing every morning--even caught some fish. Heather & Jeff were super easy to work with. Jeff spent some time with my husband giving him tips on good spots to fish. We would definitely go back.

Cute cottage on Crooked Lake

Cottage was well stocked and very cutely decorated. Had a great week with the family. Enjoyed being on the water and brought up our own boat that we docked right there. Loved sitting on the deck and having bon fires by the water. No dishwasher or air conditioning were only down sides.

Wonderful Stay At Watercolor

We had a wonderful time at Watercolor and would love to stay again in the future! The cottage is tastefully decorated, fully stocked with everything we needed, and very clean. The host had very quick responses and even accommodated a special request that we had ahead of booking. The check-in and out process was seamless. Our 17 month old son enjoyed the extra toys they had as well as the yard and my husband and I loved waking up to Crooked Lake each morning. We also enjoyed the large patio and firepit in the evening. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to rent again soon!

Rustic cottage on quiet lake

Cottage was as advertised. We loved how close it was to water and enjoyed use of kayaks, paddle board, etc. While technically a 4 bedroom the 3rd and 4th bedrooms are really only suitable for kids as they are in a lofted space with low ceilings - in our case this worked fine. We would have loved a dishwasher in the kitchen but the sunsets and beautiful view made up for it.

Lovely spot

We had a very nice week at Watercolor cottage, which we felt lucky to find since we booked late in the season. It's cozy, clean, and very cute, with a nice deck to sit on and enjoy the sunsets. Loved the fire pit. The dock and access to the owners' kayaks was perfect and we really enjoyed kayaking around Crooked Lake, which is very pretty; it's shallow and a bit mucky though, so we didn't swim. This served as a very comfortable and convenient home base for our week exploring the Petoskey area, which we highly recommend. Only 15 minutes to town. The owners were super friendly and accessible and stayed in touch to see if we needed anything and to offer recommendations for area activities. We were initially a little surprised at how close the surrounding cottages/homes were but they were mostly empty all week so we got lucky and had a quiet stay. The only big bummer was that the washing machine was out of order, which was pretty inconvenient during a summer beachy vacation with a toddler who goes through a few changes of clothes a day. Overall this cottage is great for adults and older kids but I wouldn't really recommend it for small children as we had some safety issues with the steep open staircase (we blocked it off) and the tall dining room chairs, which were much too tippy and unstable for her use (we had to fold them and put them away). There is also an unsecured, decorative slatted door leaned against one wall that our daughter managed to pull away from the wall--thankfully it hit the back of the staircase or it would have flattened her. We didn't need to use the upstairs rooms but will say that with the peaked roof they're a bit cramped and only seem suitable for kids. Overall we were happy with our stay and with the location, and the home is very cozy.
