Stunning location
The property is set in a stunning setting, opposite Blencathra, in a really quiet location. Unfortunately, however, the cottage has a rodent problem. Each morning we'd find mouse droppings underneath the fridge, on window ledges and by the sink. On leaving we also discovered mice had chewed through one of our bags.

Okay for a short stay
Fantastic location & views. Very basic which let it down. Not great when you travelled 4hrs on the road & not find any milk in fridge for a cup of tea. Lovely shower but all the mould let it down (even the fake plant was covered in mould). Tiny bath towels and no blind on window,Hole in fence has not been fixed but some broken chairs put in front which didn't take my dogs long to figure out & no outside light in garden so i had to use my phone torch to make sure they did not escape at night. It's a shame as this place could be exceptional if money was spent on it with a few homely touches & a welcome pack.

Dear guest - thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you were disappointed that there was no milk but like many self-catering establishments we do not provide a welcome pack, there is a farm shop within a short drive however for essentials. I have now addressed the small gap in the fence and the condensation spots and will install a rear light for the back garden. We are always keen to address any issues guests feel important so thank you again for your views.

Beautiful Cottage, Just Lacking in Areas
Lovely location and property but we were left without many essentials. No soap, budget towels, 1 bin bag, 3 toilet rolls and minimal cooking equipment (no oil, lack of crockery, glasses etc) - to last the week. We made do and bought what we needed but were left thinking the place needed an uplift. Windows latches were on the way out, dishwasher leaking, extractor fan hadn't been connected up to ducting above the hob. A washer dryer would have been ideal too, we had to try and dry our clothes using the single rack near radiators which wasn't effective and left clothes smelling damp. (not good for moisture in the property but we had no alternative). It wouldn't take much to make this a 5* cottage with the beautiful location and facilities.

The cottage is in a fabulous location. It’s a short drive to the shops in Keswick but wonderfully secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the town. If you want somewhere to truly escape you won’t find a better place. The powerful rain shower has plenty of hot water and there’s lots of room (not a tiny cubicle). A fully equipped kitchen with everything you could need to prepare meals. The views are incredible from the bedroom window when you wake in the morning. Heating is fully controllable, large TV with Netflix and other options to watch. It’s very dog friendly, check in was easy and Peter is the ultimate host. Highly recommend this place thank you for everything!

Lovely little cottage
Booked for a cosy retreat for my girlfriends 40th with the dog, lovely little cottage with everything you need, short drive to Keswick, Penrith and Ullswater, we'll hopefully stay again to explore more of the north lakes in the future. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.

Just arrived back today13th November after a 3 day break, absolutely delighted with my choice. Very accurately described which isn’t always the case with some properties. Looking at dates already to return. Not even worth looking for anything else after staying here. Owner very quick to respond as well

This cottage is far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to some great pubs and walks. Superbly presented and with everything you need for a great stay.

Relaxing Stay
Nice little property but could be better with a bit of TLC. There was a bit of black mould on some of the windows and in the bathroom. The fan in the bathroom just seemed to make noise and not do any extraction. Garden is 90% secure, but our JRT kept escaping in to the neighbouring property at the bottom right of the garden. There is some nylon netting but obviously no match for our dog. Overall a pleasant stay and would recommend and would stay again.

Fantastic break in the Lake District
My Wife and I booked Erika's Cottage for a short break in the Lakes with our Pooch and we had a fantastic time! The property had everything you needed after some long wet walks over the hills and round the lakes. It was very cozy and in a very quiet area with pretty much just sheep and cows for company. But only a few minutes away from Keswick for supplies, or a few minutes in the other direction for the local farm shop, which was well stocked. Many thanks to Pete & Debbie for letting us stay in their lovely cottage. I would definitely recommend Erika's Cottage for couples looking to explore the Lake District, being dog friendly too is a great boon!

On initial arrival it all looked good. Then on closer inspection there was mould in the bathroom & around the windows in the kitchen.Also despite there being a dishwasher & washing machine no washing or dishwasher tablets were provided or salt & rinse aid for the dishwasher. Generally the property need some TLC which has been mentioned in the visitor book 3yrs ago .overall we enjoyed our stay but feel a little effort they would have a very nice place with fantastic views.

Thank you for your feedback - I have undertaken significant refurbishment since 3 years ago as most feedback demonstrates, however, when the cottage is next free I will address any maintenance issues.

Lovely cottage in a great location
Cosy cottage with a great fenced off garden for the dogs. Great views and great location. Everything you need is there and the farm shop up the road is great. Lovely pub just down the road too though they were closed when we planned to visit. Will definitely stay here again. Check in and out was very simple.

Cant really fault the property, location is extremely quiet. Directions were very good, maybe consider using what three words (not a criticism) Views are fantastic too. A small welcome pack would have been appreciated.

Perfect place to stay to relax or explore. I loved it and so did my Border Collie
Lovely Property with stunning views. The fully enclosed garden was great for relaxing with my Border Collie which I did most days after a nice long walk down the lane outside the bungalow. The location is good for exploring the Lake District but the main purpose of my visit was to relax and recharge and this was the ideal place too do so. I can highly recommend the property and will be definitively be visiting again.

A Glorious Cottage with a Glorious View
Our stay at Erika’s Cottage was beyond compare! It is so well situated with a view of Blencathra. It is wonderful to watch the sun set behind the peaks in the chairs in the backyard. It has all the modern conveniences you could need and then some. This cottage has many visitors and now I can see why. We had a quiet pleasant stay. Highly recommend! We will definitely be back! Nearby- recommend the Trouckbeck Inn and White Horse Pub for a meal. Recommend calling for reservations since both are quite busy.

We stayed here for three nights. The cottage is lovely and has everything you could need and more. Everything inside was lovely and clean. Only one downside was that the patio furniture is a bit worse for wear and could do with updating. Views are spectacular.

Simply perfect
What a true gem Erika’s cottage is. Peaceful location with fantastic views. The property was spotless and had all the appliances you would need. It was lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. The garden was completely dog friendly. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful retreat. Such a lovely cottage would definitely return.

Lovely Home from Home
Fantastic location. Lovely comfortable cottage. Highly recommended the White Horse Inn at Scales. Food was heaven. Great welcome. Hill walk up Blencathra with 2 boxer dogs. Molesdale Viaduct within a short walk from front door!

Lovely cottage, great for walking, we don't have a dog but it was so obvious a dog was aloud on the large stool cos when I sat on it with black pants I was covered in hair lol also dog hairs on floor expecially on patio door mat 🐕but hey HO didn't put me off. We were out most of the days. Next time I will have to book, no pets

Lovely New Year Break
Gorgeous little cottage in a beautiful location with stunning views. Great spot for exploring the Lake District. Perfect cosy cottage with everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Food and staff lovely at the local troutbeck inn, highly recommended & very dog friendly too. Teaming with wildlife in the area but sadly didnt see the red squirrels, maybe next time! Highly recommend this cottage and we will be returning x

Another lovely stay
This was our second stay at this lovely little cottage. The owners had only recently taken over it when we stayed before and it was great to see the upgrades to the property that they have done in the past year. The remote location & stunning views are picture perfect. The cottage is warm and cosy and has everything you need for your stay. There was a new settee so I took extra blankets with us to cover it. Although our dogs aren't allowed on furniture I didn't want them marking it 🙈. Erika's cottage is perfect for us and our dogs!

Ideal little cottage & Dog-friendly
This is a superb little cottage for 2 people (plus dog), very quiet with great views and ideally situated for the North Lakes. Everything you need, and very helpful owners. Unfortunately we didn't see anything of the red squirrels, but I gather others have. Will definitely book again.

Better than ever could have expected
Lots of little touches we didn't know we were getting sucas a jigsaw, guest book, washing machine, clothes washer, hoover, outdoor seating. Really felt like a relaxing break. Every little details was thought of. Spotless. Gorgeous scenerary. Fun / easy Nest heating. Might be coming back next year!
