I would not recommend this beach house based on our experience. While the home itself is beautiful, large and has plenty of space, the poor maintenance and lack of responsive management made our stay very disappointing. Two weeks prior to our stay we had a family member fall severely ill and hospitalized. We immediately reached out to Benchmark Management requesting the option to move our week as VRBO reflected 7 to 8 weeks of availability, in which were at a lower cost and we stated we are happy to pay our higher rate. This was a family trip in which we are the caregivers for the member who was hospitalized and we didn’t feel comfortable leaving. Management confirmed the weeks were all available, after a week of no response we called back and were told “they never got ahold of the owners but wanted to release our week for someone else to book”. Keep in mind we would not be refunded it felt they wanted to just keep our funds while trying to rebook it versus even contacting the owners. After making the choice to still go, we encountered multiple management issues. We were never given instructions on pool wristbands, registration or parking passes. We had to ask neighbors and lifeguards. There is an incredibly strong sewage smell in the first-floor bedroom and bathroom that made it unpleasant to use. The shower on the third floor wouldn't drain properly, the ice maker never worked during our stay, the stove exhaust wouldn’t turn on and the internet was down for two full days, most of which was a major inconvenience. There was also a ceiling vent hanging by a single screw directly above one of the beds, creating a safety concern. To make matters worse, the dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded the kitchen, and we had to troubleshoot and fix it ourselves.
