"Regular visitor. Always clean, friendly staff, lovely rooms and great food. Only minor criticism would be that there is typically only one staff member on breakfast/check-out which can mean a few minutes waiting, but other than that, an excellent place to stay !"

Onsite restaurant 2 mins walk.
Cafe across road all priced at student discount free parking.
Bar usually close 2200 but if event on it 0100 we had euro blues festival.

"Nice mid-range hotel with excellent spa (best treatments we’ve had, at very fair price, though no pool). Excellent dinner in restaurant & good breakfast. Our room was on 3rd floor and, being an old building, there’s no lift. Room was ok, though a ‘standard’ double, not a queen / king. There’s no air-con, but a good floor standing fan. Good sized bathroom with large shower. We will certainly return here as the spa & food are so good. "

"This B&B is a delight. I was greeted by the owner on my arrival and shown to the room. The annex was lovely and clean with great facilities. The setting is amazing and so peaceful. The breakfast choice was great and a plentiful cooked breakfast was offered with a selection of cereal, yogurt and fruit. "Amazingly large and typically quaint old coaching inn under new and energetic management. We stayed because of proximity to Althorp House. Stand out feature is the food at typical pub prices but far from typical. It was superb and makes it a destination in itself. Such a pleasant change to eat real home cooking and not some chilled and reheated offering.
Full English breakfast included in room rate and also superb. "

Only down side was there was no lift. Stairs a little steep - I travelled with my mum who is in her 80’s and she found the stairs a little hard. "

"Perfect for our one night stop-over enroute to another venue. It's quite a big, old building with some quirky features but we had everything needed in our room which was well presented. Staff were personable. Breakfast was good. The hotel sits on a one-way road system. It's compact car park is to the rear of the property. If you miss the hotel car park sign on approach and pass the hotel on your left, follow the one-way clockwise, turning left just before the hotel. "

The welcome was warm and friendly and in fact I think the friendliness of the staff is my standout reason to stay.
