My family and I have stayed at Sugar Beach in the past and enjoyed it, but our experience this time was frustrating. Our check-in time was 4pm and we arrived at 6pm after a long day on the road. We had plans to drop off our luggage in the room and immediately leave to meet our family at The Wharf, but that didn't go as planned. After pulling out the couch bed to see if the mattress had much padding for me and my son, I found tons of pieces of chips, food, and sand on the mattress, and on the floor behind the mattress. There were chip crumbs in one of the chairs at the bar, food crumbs under the main bed and a piece of candy stuck to the wall behind the bed, greasy handprints all over the mirrors and countertop, crumbs on the kitchen countertop, grease on nearly all of the drawer handles, and the entire electrical box hang out of the wall behind the master bed. The room was apparently cleaned to the bare minimum, if at all. This was unacceptable, but especially after being charged a significant cleaning fee. I called Tom about waiving our cleaning fee since we didn't have a clean room, and he gave a quick "No", and told me that since it was late in the day, that I would need to wait for someone to come the next morning to take care of cleaning it. (By the next morning, we would have already cleaned it ourselves since we weren't sleeping in a bed with food under the sheets.) Tom ended up adding a lady to our phone call who gave 4 apologies to Tom's zero. She said she could have someone there that night to address all of our issues. We waited for an hour or more for someone to show up, and eventually just left because our family had been waiting on us. When we arrived back to the condo, the room had been cleaned for the most part. The following day, my family and I had laid down for an afternoon nap, and I heard some bumping around. I looked towards the doorway and saw outside light entering the room, then I heard our door close, a loud knock, and a man's voice saying, "housekeeping". I asked if I could help him and he asked if we needed any room service. The guy had just entered our room without knocking or anything, then went back out after realizing we were inside. Blew my mind...And finally, the sofa sleeper mattress is in need of replacement and not worth counting as a functional bed. It was extremely worn down and thin and uncomfortable, even for my small kids. Everything else at Sugar Beach was great. Parking, beach, food, etc.
