Cute As Can Be, By The Sea

Iconic kiwi bach at the beach. Well kitted out. Perfect getaway summer or winter. Two double/queen beds in the partitioned loft, one double pull out sofabed in the lounge. Spacious open plan living downstairs, opening onto flat lawn with outdoor table and chairs and beach hut bar. Conveniently located across the road from the beach and boat ramp. There are two kayaks available for your use. Plenty of walks, islands and boating galore.
This unique, north facing, uncrowded piece of Coromandel paradise is home to the award winning Opito Bay Salt Company. It's also just 15 minutes from the famous Luke's Kitchen and 30 minutes from the world class Lost Springs Pools and Spa in Whitianga.
Please bring your own sheets and towels. For overseas travelers we can provide linen at a cost by prior arrangement, all other linen and bedding requirements are provided.
If you are bringing your furbaby please check the TCDC website for seasonal dog rules on the beach.

Beauty and peace

What can be better than staying right across the road from beautiful Opito Bay? The bach is typical kiwiana style with all you need, I cooked on the bbq though there is a full kitchen. Comfy beds, fall asleep and wake to the sounds of the sea. Thanks to Liz and Lloyd for friendly hospitality.

Lovely hosts, great location for a quiet get away with walks and secluded bays within walking distance. Black Jack Rd less gravel than was suggested so was easy to get to.

Loved Opito Bay

What a stunning Beach. The Batch was an iconic Kiwi Batch. Bought back lots of memories of childhood holidays, just didn't notice on the listing that we were required to bring our own linen but the owners lent us some which was really nice of them. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommended.

Great spot

The location is fantastic. We found it a bit overpriced and were surprised that price changes depending on the guests. Normally you rent the property regardless (within the limit of the max occupants) The host was really helpful and accommodating (we were not charged for the sheets we forgot to bring)

Stunning spot!

What an idyllic spot! We arrived with 2 kids under 5 and a dog and it was just prefect! Bach is rustic enough that you are comfortable without having to worry, and location is great for anyone with kids! Literally 2mins walk to the beach - so multiple trips up and down in a day when you need a break is so easy! Plenty to explore with crayfish bay, the PA and other bays. Hosts generously supplied Kayaks also for even more exploring. Hosts home is just in front so accessible if you require anything but leaves you to get on and enjoy the space without interruption. Highly recommend and we will be back! Thank you

Disappointing

We were disappointed on arrival because the small bach was behind a huge new house. This location was never mentioned and the photos were misleading, the description was "right across the road from the beach " but it's not really as it's down a driveway and hidden behind the big house. There is no view of the water.

Great little Kiwi bach

Our host Liz was amazing and very helpful after we had to move our original dates by more than a year, nothing was too much trouble. House was perfect for our little family (2 adults, 3 children (1 in cot)) and great being so close to the beach We had access to kayaks and life jackets (which we didn’t use) and our own little ‘social’ area Great spot and accommodation was top notch

Authentic Kiwi Bach

This is a proper kiwi bach by the sea. Clean tidy with every thing you need for a restful or active break. The beach is lovely and the sea is safe for swimming & kayaking (just watch the wind). The sea kayaks provided by the hosts are brand new. The hosts are helpful & friendly but not in your face. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Beautiful location

Great family time close to safe beach and walks. Hosts were quick to communicate and on site and available. House had everything we needed We slept on the fold out couch for 2 nights and let the kids sleep up stairs Was more comfortable than expected and we did use the mattress topper that was available in rafters. Space was cozy with plenty of room. So nice to have our dog come too. It was really nice that there were some things provided like Tupperware to store our leftovers and a few little supplies with sugar, saran wrap, etc. could’ve used a better kitchen chopping knife a hair dryer another fan. It was great to have the barbecue grill, however, wasn’t clean on arrival so we spent some time cleaning. It would recommend using aluminum foil over the greats because they’re very old. Beware of the trash bag situation I did not read some of the fine print about bringing and buying the trash bags. Luckily, the host let us have one and my partner spent some time cleaning the grill and we were able to use it just didn’t hinder our experience at all we had a great time loved our time at the beach and the house in the surrounding areas. The property is super clean and tidy on the outside kids had fun just chillin in the yard. There are lines to hang out wet towels and suits. Would highly recommend this stay and for longer than the weekend. Would love to come back again.

Opito Bay bach

The bach was fine overall and Opito Bay is very nice; the weather was bad for most of our stay but that couldn't be helped. Liz was a friendly and helpful host. My only reservations are that the downstairs sofa-bed is too firm and the narrow stairs don't have a banister, so it isn't great for a large group or with small children.

Perfect little tuck away in Opito Bay

Great holiday in sunny Opito, the bach is right across the street from the beach and boat launch which made using the provided Kayaks a breeze. House had everything we needed to keep us busy when out of the sun. The hosts were great and always accessible if we needed anything. Really hope to be back soon.

Wonderful spot for a small family (and dogs!)
