Overall we enjoyed our stay, but there are several reasons we would not return to this property or this area. The house itself is nicely decorated and spacious, but it was not as clean as one would hope. The floors felt a bit tacky, especially in the kitchen. The rugs in the common areas were stained and dirty looking. One of the upstairs bathrooms had hair on the bathmat and in the shower. Grilling was not optimal -- only allowed in the back alley, which is fine, but the grill itself was not in great shape, and difficult to control the heat on. The coffee maker was a cheap old one that seemed as if it had been picked up at a garage sale, and it leaked out of the bottom. I would expect a better coffee maker for the amount that we paid for our week's stay. We had to either bring our own linens or rent them, which again seems ridiculous considering the cost of renting the house. The first floor bedroom is listed as a double, but did not fit our double sheets, so we had to purchase new queen sheets the first day.
The Sunset Island community is nice, but the pool and beach areas are not really big enough for the number of houses and condos, and therefore are always really crowded. If people have young children, they would probably enjoy it. We hoped to swim in the bay from the private beaches, but we apparently timed our vacation for when there are baby jellyfish washing ashore, and they sting! Finally, for those who know and love Ocean City, they know what they are getting into. It was our first time and we did not like the constant heavy traffic, and the beach itself is rather narrow and much less appealing than any other beach we have been to up and down the East coast. Our family group of nine rated this vacation near the bottom of our various trips.
