The Bee's Knees- Fenced Backyard

THE BEE'S KNEES is a cozy and charming dog-friendly, one-level beach cottage that is only a 15 minute walk to the ocean and less than a 2 minute drive (0.7 miles). This 3-bdr/2-bath one-story house is updated and nicely decorated. The back screened in patio opens to a shaded backyard with beautiful live oak trees and surrounded by a 6-foot fence. On-site golf cart rental. ***Installed in 2025- New LVP Flooring!!***

This is our second home that we visit regularly, and have made it comfortable & fun for you to enjoy as well. The house is 0.7 miles from the beach via the SE 9th footbridge (4 blocks over), or about the same distance via the Middleton Rd beach access.

The house has fast 600 mbps Wifi, with complementary streaming Spectrum (cable), and access to your Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu accounts via the Smart TVs. The following has been included to make your stay as comfortable and easy as possible:

The home also has 1 dog bed and 3 dog bowls. There is a shop vac in the garage so you can vacuum out all that beach sand before you return home.

The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, dresser, desk, full bath with large walk in shower, vanity with granite top, large walk-in closet, and a 42" Smart TV.

Bedroom #2 has a queen sized bed, one nightstand, one small chest of drawers, 32" Smart TV, and a closet.

Bedroom #3 sleeps up to 4 people with two sets of twin bunk beds (upper bunks have pocket organizers to hold cell phones, eyeglasses,etc) and a nightstand.

The living room has a cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan, a microfiber couch, matching love seat, two swivel chairs, a 50" smart tv, and a gas log fireplace.

The fully stocked kitchen features:

The dining area has seating for 7 people, while the screened in porch can accommodate an additional 8 people (6 person dining set and a 2 person bistro set).

Bed linens and bath towels are included and beds will be made. Owners supply a STARTER PACK ONLY of shampoo,body wash,dish soap,dishwasher pod,laundry detergent,paper towels,toilet paper,trash bags. Additional supplies may be purchased from the grocery store.

Dogs must be booked in advance with a $175 pet fee paid at booking.

Only 8 people are permitted to stay overnight-STRICTLY ENFORCED

Copy of license and signed rental agreement required within 48 hours of booking
A $500 security deposit hold will be applied to guest's credit card 2 days before arrival then released 3 days after departure
Please be respectful of the neighbors as most of them are full time residents. Town of OKI quiet hours are 11pm-7am

Did you know that we offer a golf cart rental?

It is SO much fun to cruise to the beach on our 2023 six passenger Bintelli electric (lithium battery) street legal golf cart. It has a beach chair rack on the back and built in bluetooth speakers so you can listen to your favorite music!

Golf cart rental fee is non-refundable due to operator error or poor weather conditions.

We will need a copy of you driver's license, auto insurance, and a signed copy our golf cart waiver and usage guidelines. Must be at least 25 years old to rent golf cart. The golf cart rental fee is charged after the house reservation is made.

Garage is not available for guest's vehicle use, this is where we store our golf cart . There is room for 2-3 cars in the driveway.

Restricted thermostat- no lower than 68 for AC and no higher than 75 for heat.

Bees Knees is amazing! I have never stayed in such a well appointed home! Has absolutely everything you could possibly need. Furniture and beds are so comfortable! We enjoyed the yard and the golf cart, very close beach parking. The bee accents are a really special touch, loved it!

Good for young family and dog

We had a lovely chill time with the yard for our dog and fire pits! There is a whole closet of new toys that my young children had an absolute blast with. Everything that you need to go to the beach and have fun in the home without having to pack a ton of extra stuff. They even had dog beds and toys, as well as a pack and play, high chair, and plastic cups, bowls, straws, and small size utensils for very young children. They have thought of everything and even have a "junk drawer" for pens, tape, lighters, and each bathroom had first aid kits and there were even sealed toothbrushes just in case you forget yours. They put extra thought into everything and it was really nice. We really enjoyed the home, thank you!

We loved staying at the Beeā€™s Knees! The house was perfect for our family of four. They had lots of kids books and games that kept my children occupied when we didnā€™t go to the beach. The golf cart was definitely a big hit as well which made our trips to the beach so easy. The hosts were extra helpful and responded to me right away with any questions I had. Next time we are in Oak Island we will definitely be staying there!

Restful Weekend

We had never been to Oak Island before so we had no idea of location to stay. We could not have picked a better spot. The proximity to beaches and restaurants and the ability to ride the golf cart pretty much everywhere we wanted to go was so nice. It was nice to have a private backyard space but still be so close to the beach. We brought our two dogs and they seemed to feel very comfortable as well. It is also the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. Couldnā€™t recommend booking more!

Fantastic Stay!

We had a great time at the Beeā€™s Knees. The hosts really have it buttoned up. The home was charming, clean, fully stocked and comfy. Our fur babies loved the fenced in back yard. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Our kids loved all the games and toys that were there. They also loved riding the golf cart. The golf cart is a must, it makes getting around with kids so much easier. My wife loved the screened in porch. We definitely plan to come back another time.

Comfortable, Clean, and Fun

We really enjoyed staying at the Beeā€™s Knees. This place is just as the pictures show. The owners have thought of everything which makes your time at the beach so easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with what you need to cook just about anything. We thought the backyard area was beautiful and cozy. Driving the golf cart made Beach parking easy, and we appreciated the instructions and map of the golf cart route. Sometimes I hesitate to rent a dog friendly place sight unseen because they are not always clean. But the Beeā€™s Knees was nice and clean and did not disappoint! Thank you, Bill and Tawnya!

If I could give this house more than 5 stars, I definitely would! This is absolutely the cutest beach house with plenty of room and itā€™s better than the pictures! The house was super clean, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the back porch area was our favorite spot to hang out, and it was so easy and so much fun to explore Oak Island on the golf cart! The binder they made was full of instructions for anything and everything we could possibly need while we were there and it was so helpful! Bill and Tawnya literally thought of everything to make this house a home away from home! We canā€™t wait to come back!

Wonderful Stay at the Bee's Knees

We absolutely loved our stay at the Bee's Knees! It's very obvious that the host family has a love for Oak Island, but also for helping their guest make memories of their own on the beautiful island. Everything about the host screams details! They have thought of everything and their information binder is amazingly helpful if you are new to the area. They are very accommodating and responsive to questions/requests. We can't wait to come back to the Bee's Knees again next year!

Amazing home

If I had to use one word to describe this home, I would say "perfect." The home was very clean and well stocked with every need imaginable. The pups loved the fenced yard and lovely screened porch. The beach chairs, cart, umbrellas, etc. Made visiting the beach so much easier. The golf cart was amazing and will be a must on our next visit back to this lovely home which we will be booking again!! Thank you so much for our fantastic vacation!!
