"The location is perfect, on beautiful grounds, nice view of the mountains, close to Turangi (where you can find restaurants) and about 30 minutes from the Tongariro National Park. I was a little disappointed with the inside of the chalets, specially considering their prices. Decoration is rustic, but not charming. When I saw them on the website (hotels.com) I had the impression I was booking another room, which looked better. Also, in the reservation it said "hot tub" but it turns out that...

"We had an absolutely amazing one night stay here! The accommodation is amazing and such a homey feeling. The room was a great size and came with everything we needed. Was a nice surprise to have a cheese platter and crackers on arrival! Breakfast was great, truely couldn’t fault our stay. The hosts were so lovely and helpful, would highly recommend to stay here and will definitely come back!"

"Perfect place for a romantic winter getaway. Stunning grounds, great room with lovely views, the lodge was cozy and the food was great - the breakfast in particular was amazing. Dinner was expensive but it didn’t disappoint and convenient onsite. No TV in the room but no need with the cozy fireplace. Bed was comfortable with nice linen. "The only issue I have is that the property asks you to write down your credit / debit card details on the registration card - it's ok to put it straight onto the PMS, but writing it down on a piece of paper goes against every single insurance policy the banks have. I've said this to them last year February - one-and-half years later, they still do it. This has stopped at hotels now over a decade ago. Get on with the times, it's time for an update."
