Become a Beach Bum at the Beach Bungalow - Hot Tub, Kayaks, Wi-Fi, & SAND!!!

Beach Bungalow rentals run from Saturday to Saturday during the summer. Cleaning and disinfecting takes place from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturdays matching checkin and checkout times. Arrival check in is contactless via emailed door code.

This unique bungalow is your home away from home situated on an UNCROWDED stretch of beautiful beach on the Chesapeake Bay! Our beach faces north giving us beautiful sunrises to the east view from the private deck and amazing sunsets to the west from the beach view.

Open floor plan from kitchen to living room and patio doors to the beach. Large private deck overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, BBQ grill, outdoor hot tub, a sit-on-top kayak on the property make this the perfect beach hot spot!!!

Study/Work Note: There is a rolltop desk and chair near patio door which can accommodate the need to work or do schoolwork while on vacation.

Comfortably sleeps up to six people in any combination of adults and children with one queen size bedroom, one full size bedroom, and one bedroom with a trundle bed that expands to two twin beds in the summer. The peach bedroom is off the kitchen and connects to yellow bedroom and second bathroom.

ADA Note: While the living area is all one level, there are 6 stairs up to the front porch. In addition, no doorways are 36" wide and cannot accommodate a wheel chair. No ADA handrails are located at the property.

House Rules: Must be 25+ to rent, no parties/events, no pets, no smoking.

BabyGear: the bungalow does not have baby specific gear. Consider lightening your load by renting what you need locally!

Very cozy and comfortable property with privacy. Convenient location, with incredible views. A great place to spend time with family and not be in the middle of typical beach towns. Bay side, so waves were small and kids can have a lot of fun in the sand and sun. We would definitely book here again in the future.

The house was clean and welcoming. The location was perfect for a quiet and relaxing beach vacation. There were not a lot of people on the beach and you felt like you had it all to yourself. Tom was extremely helpful and was quick to respond when there were any questions. I would stay here again if I ever come back to the area.

The location on the private beach with the crow's nest was nice, but we definitely would not stay here again. The place is old and needs a lot of updates and a deep cleaning. The sheets were stained, there is what appears to be mold in the bathroom and closets, and everything was sticky/dirty/needs replaced. There are webs and live/dead spiders, including in the cabinet where the pots are kept. Large piano and desk in the small living area that were locked and not able to be used even upon request. It made the small space feel even smaller and clunky. Kitchen is lacking cookware. Significant delay in response from host when messages were sent.

The most relaxing week!

We had a wonderful time at the beach bungalow! The highlight was the beach, it was lovely and calm most days but we did get a couple days with great waves! We spent most of our week relaxing on the beach and in the water. Tom was a great host and very quick to respond when we had a question. We couldn’t have ask for a better place to relax with our kiddos.

We absolutely enjoyed our vacation at the Bungalow! This is our second year and will plan another. Our host is wonderful. Checks in and replies to concerns. He made a few upgrades from last year and we definitely noticed them! This area of the Bay was my childhood vacation spot. It’s always a pleasure to stay in the area, would love to retire in VA.

Beach Bungalow

This was our third time staying here and we absolutely love it! The location is perfect. Right on the beach, which is never crowded, and close to all the attractions in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and surrounding areas. I love staying in a house with my family instead of a hotel room. This place gives us the ability to have our own spaces. After seeing the families lugging gear from their hotels to Virginia Beach, it just proves how wonderful this house is. Just down the steps and out to the beach! Nice beach chairs in the shed that are easy to carry. A beach wagon to help carry coolers or other supplies makes it so easy. Had a nice chat with Tom on the beach and he was so nice to give us a gift card for pizza dinner! Such a nice surprise that made move in day dinner so much easier. This house is worth every penny and we can’t wait to go back again! Thanks Tom!!

Renter Beware

This was my second time staying at this beach bungalow. What brought me back was the location to the beach and the privacy the beach offers. The cons out weight the pros. The owner showed up several times. Once talking to my teenage daughter on the porch(which made her uncomfortable) then he came down on one of our beach days to talk to us. There is a ring camera on the back door that obviously shows anything you are doing on the porch or back area, again making my teenage daughter uncomfortable. I understand the front ring door bell but the back is unacceptable to us. The furniture in the listing is not the same that is in the house. It is there is very uncomfortable.The beds in the peach and yellow room are uncomfortable and the 2nd bed (not in pic) is on wheels and does not stay in place The small bathroom off the peach room had a dirty shower(mold), needs a deep cleaning. The refrigerator has a check out list they ask you to follow. Temp 75, fans on, and lights off. We did all of these things and was told be barely did anything. After reading the contract that was signed a year ago other things are listed as “housekeeping procedures” NOT check out list. Not only does the fridge say check out list but the owner called it a check out list on his beach visit with us. So BEWARE the list does not list all he wants done. We were also accused of breaking some of the dishes and staining a sheet, the owner did not supply any proof of this.

Love the Bungalow!!! Virginia Beach Bums 2024

Tom & Cate made it a wonderful experience for our family vacation!!! Excellent communication and the home was well stocked. Only missing item was a pizza cutter, but we made due! The beach was relaxing and clean, we were able to see Dolphins, and we were super happy to be able to do our laundry as needed. I recommend bringing your own laundry detergent, as I’m allergic to what was provided. We will definitely be back!!! Loved every minute of our stay!!! Thanks again!!!

Great Location

The location of this property is absolutely phenomenal for families with young children. The beach is literally steps away from the house. We appreciated the added amenities of the kayaks for something different to do in the ocean as well as the shed full of beach chairs and toys. The crow’s nest was fun to use early in the morning or late in the evening when the temperature outside was cooler. The house itself worked well for our family’s needs, though it had a difficult time maintaining its temperature despite outside doors not being opened. It was a little challenging to wrangle our toddler into the shower (as the house has no tubs), but we were aware of this prior to our booking. The washing machine was huge which was super helpful for doing laundry mid-week. Also, we appreciated the lack of knick-knacks for decoration as they can be a problem with kids. For future renters: 1) the cabinets were well stocked with spices, 2) there are no extra blankets, 3) there is limited space in the bathrooms to store personal items, 4) the blinds do not block out sunlight completely.

We had a great time. The weather was great and the water was cool and warm at some times so u can just jump right in. Tom and Catherine were awesome hosts. We didn't get to see Piglet but we did see the dolphins. Thanks again.

Beautiful Beach Bungalow

We had a wonderful time at this beach bungalow. The home was lovely with extra amenities provided. The area surrounding was equally lovely. The trek to the beach was hot hot hot but perfect!! The crows nest was probably one of our favorite parts of the bungalow. We saw dolphins every morning!! If we decide to come back to Norfolk we would definitely consider staying here again!!

Relaxing

The house was comfortable and clean and the owners were kind and accommodating. It was so nice being right on the beach and we had great views from the top deck. Location was close to the airport and local attractions. We were about 1/2 hour drive from Virginia Beach. Great place to relax on your own private beach.

Perfect retreat

This was our second stay at the Beach Bungalow, and we loved it even more! This time we saw the dolphins and had amazing weather every day. We also visited Busch Gardens and Virginia Beach and had great meals at Longboards just down the road. Outlet shopping is also a short 15 minute drive. Best part is always relaxing on the beach and watching the sun rise and set each day. Our kids enjoyed boogie boarding and Lodi sing crabs with their flashlights. After a long day in the sun, The bungalow was cool and cozy, and we loved how the kids had their own bathroom and wing of the house. This time we met the owner Tom who was very friendly and helped us have the best family vaca. We will definitely return!

A great relaxing getaway location!

We really enjoyed the Beach Bungalow during our stay. The property was clean and very well organized. It was exactly the way it is described and looks in the pictures. We only used the beach chairs and umbrellas, but there were many other pieces of beach equipment on hand. Our favorite part was the view from the Crow's Nest. It was very relaxing to sit up there every morning and evening taking it all in! The location was great as it was a nice central location between the areas we went to from Virginia Beach to Williamsburg. My wife just adored the cat, Piglet, and watched for him every morning to feed him. Piglet is so sweet and is very comfortable around people. He would follow us up to the Crow's Nest and sprawl out on the deck at our feet. We had no problems during out stay, but it was reassuring to know that the owners, Cate & Tom, were just a phone call away. We would highly recommend the Beach Bungalow to anyone looking for a place in this area to relax, unwind, and spent time at the beach!

Perfection!

What a beautiful beach bungalow right on the beach! Perfect get away location from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The beach is right out the door and so peaceful. Dolphin watching from the crows nest was my favorite way to enjoy my morning coffee. Bungalow was well equipped. Couldn’t have been any better!

Relaxing getaway!!

We had a wonderful stay at the beach Bungalow this week! The house was so nice, clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. Our favorite part was having the private beach access , which was especially nice and convenient with our little ones. Tom and Cate were great, and were quick to respond to any questions that we had. Thank you for a great time, and we hope to return for another stay in the future!

A wonderful beachside getaway

The beach bungalow was clean, well managed, and had everything we needed for our stay. The beach was just a few steps away, and we were able to utilize the chairs, beach toys, and kayaks that the owners provided for us. Everything was neatly organized for us upon our arrival including a book with suggestions of places to eat and activities to do during our stay. The friendly house cat Piglett was a joy to spend our mornings with while we had our morning coffee in the crows nest. Would definitely recommend!

The "great" and The "could have been better for us"...

The great: * Location - quiet, easy and short walk to beautiful empty beach * Nice, clean house which was well-appointed with cooking and beach items * Washer and dryer were great * Parking was easy and convenient * Ice maker easily kept up with demand * Loved the dolphins The "could have been better for us": * Cameras - installed in front of house (common and understandable), but also off the back of house which made our teenage girls uncomfortable walking to and from the beach in their bikinis knowing they were being recorded. Creeped them out and we hardly used the back deck to hang out on feeling we were always being watched and listened to. * Beds were not comfortable * Pillows were lacking in number and very flat - we ended up purchasing our own halfway through the week * After departure, we were charged $150 to replace 5(!) complete sets of towels because daughter accidentally used a white washcloth to wipe her non-waterproof mascara on instead of the black washcloth she was supposed to. We don't have a problem at home getting washcloths clean... This was something we have never experienced in the dozens of hotels, rentals from other companies and vrbo's we have stayed in over the years...
