Quiet modern apartment with stunning coastal views

The one bedroom apartment is located at Thornton Bay, approximately 10 kilometres north of Thames. It comes with all linen and cleaning is included. The apartment is cozy and has everything you need, and tea and coffee is provided. The beach about 100 metres away, for safe all tide swimming and good fishing. The studio faces north for all day sun and takes in wide sea views off the large deck. The apartment backs onto the Coromandel Forest Park and the native birdlife is abundant. The Waiomu Cafe and the local general store / fish and chip shop are both less than 5 minutes away. Historic Thames is 10 minutes by car, and Coromandel Town is only 45 minutes drive up the beautiful Thames Coast Road. Auckland and Hamilton are both only 1 1/2 hours drive, and Auckland International Airport is just over an hour's drive. Its a great base for hiking, fishing, cycling, or just exploring the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. The well known destinations of Whitianga, Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, and Coromandel Town are all no more than 1.5 hours drive. Hobbiton is also approximately 1.5 hours drive, and many of our guests do this as a day trip.

Guests have full access to the apartment, which is completely self contained. There is a dedicated parking space and the access is via a concrete driveway. There is a barbecue available for guest use. There is a toaster, microwave oven, fridge, tea and coffee provided, but there is no hob or oven. A gas burner can be provided on request. There is a queen size bed in the separate bedroom, and a single bed in the lounge area.

Hosts John and Rose live in the house in front of the apartment and will be happy to assist with any special requests or information. Our old cat Ming is very friendly and will make you feel welcome!

We loved finding your place. It was a wonderful spot to do our exploration of the Coromandel Peninsula from. We went to see the Square Kauri Tree amazing old ancient forests from prehistoric times. Driving across the mountains was an experience. We walked to the Cathedral Cove - beautiful! The apartment is spacious and offered everything we needed. We especially loved the views from the lanai and from your beds of the water, coast, sunset and full moon. The street and driveway is steep, but we became experts after the first time. Thank you Rose for being so supportive and connecting our daughters as co-students at the University of Otago in Dunedin. Thank you!

I had four enjoyable days in Ngarimu Bay. This is an ideal apartment for anyone wishing to visit the southern area of the Coromandel Peninsular. It is furnished to a high and modern standard and is very comfortable. It has a lovely, elevated decking area at the front of the apartment which overlooks the bay. It is also an easy drive to the main town of Thames which has ample shopping. I would recommend the apartment for a short or long stay for those visiting the area.

A lovely tidy, modern and cared for little bach with everything you need for a getaway. Gorgeous views of the bay and stunning sunsets to be enjoyed from the deck. Close stroll to an inviting beach away from the crowds - this bay is a gem! Owners were super friendly (as was their lovely cat). Definitely keen to visit again - thank you for a wonderful few days escape!

A fantastic 3 day get away at Queen's Birthday Weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved walking on the beach before the rain set in. A trip to Whitianga up and around the Peninsula to visit friends and into Thames a few times for the Saturday market and dinner. The bach was clean and tidy, easy to heat when it got cold and had everything we needed. Knowing that it did not have full cooking facilities wasn't a problem, as we planned for this. Towels and bedding being provided was a bonus too. Lovely host - John welcomed us and gave us tips and information of what we could do during our stay. Loved the nature and the native birds singing to us in the morning, even though it was raining. Would recommend this bach to stay at. :)

This was a great place to stay , clean and comfortable accomodation, with very friendly host, view to die for, only hazard was the very steep drive ,but well worth the effort.,would recommend it to anyone,and they just might get us returning in the near future

What an amazing getaway with fantastic views. Everything you need is here and the birdsong and sound of the waves makes for the most peaceful atmosphere. Will for sure be coming back.
