Large late1800's home within walking distance to Opera House and downtown.

Ryan and I are certain you will love Newberry's friendly "small town" atmosphere. Our home was built in the late 1800's. It provides visitors with an eclectic blend of "old house" charm and modern updates within walking distance to the Newberry Opera House and wonderful downtown restaurants. The house features almost 4000 square feet of high ceilings, heavy pocket doors for privacy, three fireplaces, four bedrooms with three queen and two twin beds, 3.5 baths...and a wonderful front porch.

Be sure to examine the reproduction of the photograph unearthed on the property during renovations. There is something quite odd about it!!! Can you determine what it is? Take a mini tour of the house on our Ramblin Man YouTube channel at

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home! We are a group of four friends, getting together for a visit. Though we were only there for one night, we felt so at home, and at peace. The photos don’t do this home justice! It is an amazing home in and of itself, but has been furnished and decorated with such lovely, unusual, yet familiar pieces, blending period furniture with modern upgrades, we were in love!! One would need a good week to carefully take in all the pieces, great on their own, but together with the old world charm the house’s bones naturally have, it is a masterpiece! We enjoyed the front porch, chatting and catching up, and later sitting in the downstairs living room. We were too busy to spend more time, but the upstairs sitting area and hallway are so welcoming, we have to come back to play a board game or two! The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, the host is quick to respond to any questions, the only thing missing is more time there!

Step back in time to the old south! Charming 2 story with 4 bedrooms. Perfect for family’s or even family reunions! Joan has decorated this old home, Inspiration House, tastefully. There is no shortage of books, games and memorabilia from days gone by. The front porch is lovely to spend your morning coffee or in a rocking chair at night. 10/10

Exceptional Home

This home feels like you have stepped back in time. Or perhaps are part of a movie set in the 1800’s. All the beautiful furniture, China, paintings, books and small items that are so interesting to look at and read. A truly one of a kind place to stay at during a trip. Perfect with a front porch for morning coffee or evening cocktails. Large kitchen and plenty of sitting areas to visit with friends and family. Highly recommend staying here, we have stayed here twice and will come back anytime we are in Newberry !!

Cute and Quirky

Huge home with lots of places to hang out. It was the perfect location for us.Couple of issues....had to play search and destroy for the coffee maker. No AC in 2 of the bedrooms. It rained and the rain from the roof came dow the center of the back staircase. We didn't get rained on, we got poured on. Front porch is VERY soft in many places...scary!

A Dream Come True!

Not everyone appreciates history, so it’s fun to find those that do. I love how Joan and Ryan have preserved this beautiful 1800’s home! Staying here with my adult children has made this weekend and my birthday absolutely fabulous! We all came for my nephew’s wedding but decided to come a day early to celebrate my birthday here as well! It was the BEST decision ever!! I’ve come to Newberry many times for 35 years, and I’ve always wanted to stay in one of the many beautiful old homes there! That dream came true with staying at this incredible VRBO!! It outdid all of my quite high expectations too! Joan’s attention to detail and her talent for decorating is outstanding! She was so easy to communicate with and made sure everything went perfectly smooth for us! We made some very special and lasting memories here also! I felt like I’d gone back in time while staying at this dreamy place, and sitting on the front porch with everyone and even having breakfast and dinner with my family on the porch was just amazing!! My four adult children and my two daughter-in-loves thanked me repeatedly this weekend, and again in a big way when we left and parted our ways to our different home destinations for finding and for providing such an amazing place for our family! Everyone kept saying how much better than a hotel it was and how being here had created such a pleasant family reunion!

Beautiful Historic Home

We had a delightful stay in this gorgeous home.I have never seen a short term rental home so well stocked for kitchen items! A wide variety of cookware, tableware, and utensils and these and all furnishings were of excellent quality and comfort.My only very minor constructive feedback is that both downstairs bathrooms lacked handsoap. This was easily solved as I always have a bar of soap in my weekend toiletry bag, but was an inconvenience to remember to grab the soap from the other bathroom if it wasn't in the one you were headed to. Just something worth mentioning to the cleaning service or whomever stocks up between guests.Really a gorgeous home, and easy walking distance to the downtown area. Will definitely stay again on any further adventures in Newberry!

A Beautiful Place To Stay

Lots of elbow room

Large late 1800's or early 1900's house with high ceilings, large rooms and some pocket doors. We were in town for a show at the Newberry Opera House and this property was close by. This was our second time renting this house.
