close to st charles ave, that was the ONLY good thing. the room was so musty it was sickening. our clothes even picked up the smell. the entrance door was stuck at the top and had an inch gap at the bottom, easily pried open with a crowbar, since anybody could enter the back alley space called a courtyard. the door had a wimpy lock that would keep out NO ONE. the bathroom door was FAR from being able to be closed. we had to set a bag in front of it for privacy. no knobs on closet, only a fingerhole. the bed was so uncomfortable, we both had backaches every day. we dreaded going to bed every night. when we arrived we had no hot water. thin walls, should have guessed with having earplugs. but with earplugs one can't hear anything, except for the elephants running around upstairs. the manager was non-existent, except for setting breakfast out. wouldn't even answer his phone. the bathroom floor was cold as ice, and had mold or dirt along tub. this place was not fit for man, nor beast. this place, which was non-refundable, should be condemned. i can't believe it is being rented out to guests. it sure does not speak well for NO. it was the most miserable stay we have ever had anywhere. and they dare charge the price that they do. shame on them. if we were paying for quaint, they can have their "quaint" it stinks! the glowing reviews in the book on the piano must have been stolen from another hotel, they should never book this room to anyone! it is repulsive!
