Lake James Cabin | Screened Porch+Boat/Swim Access

Enjoy your morning coffee on the screened-in deck with lake views. This cabin sits at the edge of the marina community, closest to the woods, which makes it the quieter option in the neighborhood. Walk out your door, and you're two minutes from boat docks and marina boat rentals on Lake James. Spend your days tubing, fishing, or taking in the mountain views from the lake, then come back to cook out and unwind on the porch.

This cozy cabin is a comfortable, well-equipped base for up to 4 guests. The screened-in porch is the centerpiece. It has outdoor dining, ceiling fans, and enough space to actually use it for meals, morning coffee, or just relaxing out of the sun. The yard has a fire pit and a charcoal grill with everything you need for a cookout.

Inside, the kitchen is fully stocked: Keurig coffee maker, electric stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, and all the cooking basics, including pots and pans, dishes, glassware, and basic appliances. The cabin is single-level, has central air conditioning and heating, and the private bath includes a bathtub, shower, and hair dryer. Extra pillows, blankets, and a drying rack are available.

Sleeping layout: The primary bedroom has a queen bed. The second sleeping area is a bunk bed in the open hallway between the living room and the master bedroom. It is open to the living room on one side, with a door separating it from the master on the other.

Boats and trailers: Lake James Marina is right next door and has slips available for daily rental as well as boat rentals (contact the marina to book). Free overnight parking for boats and boat trailers is located 1/2 mile away at the State Park's Canal Bridge boat launch. Benfield's Landing is another nearby option for boat rentals and overnight boat and trailer storage. The driveway at the cabin fits two standard vehicles but is not suited for towing.

Two sections of Lake James State Park are a few minutes away. Paddy's Creek has 14 miles of mountain biking trails, and the Catawba River area has some of the best short hikes in the region. Fonta Flora Brewery and Mica Town Brewing are 10 minutes away. Morganton is about 20 minutes for groceries and restaurants. Asheville is an hour west on I-40. Enjoy the most convenient location on the lake!

Guests have full access to the entire cabin, screened porch, yard, and outdoor grill. The marina and boat docks are a short walk from the property, about a few minutes on foot. The marina's swimming area is also accessible from there. A path from the property leads down to the lake access.

Nebo is a small community in McDowell County, sitting between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the shores of Lake James. The lake covers 6,510 acres with 150 miles of shoreline, and Lake James State Park draws visitors year-round for boating, fishing, hiking, and swimming. The cabin is situated between two of the park's main access points — Paddy's Creek and Catawba River are both just a few miles away. Paddy's Creek has 14 miles of mountain biking trails, while the Catawba River area offers some of the most scenic short hikes in the region.

The local craft trail includes South Creek Vineyards, Mica Town Brewing, and Fonta Flora's Whippoorwill Farm brewery in Nebo. Morganton is about 20 minutes away for groceries, dining, and everyday errands. Asheville is approximately one hour west on I-40.

A car is required as this is a rural lake community. The marina and lake access are walkable from the cabin, but restaurants, grocery stores, and area attractions all require a short drive. Free parking is available on the premises.
