Snorkeling paradise

Reading a mixture of reviews, I still decided to stay there for 2 nights due to the ability to snorkel even at low tide, which is not possible in many other locations. This is also probably nearly on par or the 2nd best snorkelling after Mantaray Island resort on Yasawa islands, as both have marine reserves. When I arrived, I was the only guest staying, then the next day another couple arrived. It is definitely a pleasant change from large hotels on Denarau island or large island resorts. It is great to swing in hammock looking at the beautiful lagoon and drinking coconut water. The snorkelling is pretty good with plenty of fish, corals and occasional white tip shark or turtle. It is a nice hike to the top of the hill (do it early after breakfast, as it is hot on a sunny day) with views of the south part of Yasawa islands. The accommodation is basic (with occasional lizard getting into bure, which is painted/decorated in Fijian style) and there is no choice of meals, but food is cooked fresh. It is great stargazing. At night in beachfront bure, you hear a gentle swell of the ocean. Thus, if you are not after a 5 star resort with TV, but after peace and quite of a Pacific island, then this place is for you.The staff in this resort are all very nice.

Great Yasawa Island Location

This was the most amazing trip I've had and staying at Botaira was definitely the way to go for me. The staff were awesome, food was delicious, the resort was well kept and accommodations comfortable and clean. Kayaking and snorkeling available and beautiful. I highly recommend taking the mountain way sunrise hike. Definitely hope to be back one day.

Great staff made disappointing resort memorable

Exceptional warm and caring staff made this a memorable stay. Resort run down, very few guests, Premium Ocean View Bure was really a garden view, and definitely not Premium. Reef off beach sadly decimated and exposed at low tide. Did not live up to advertisement of superb snorkelling off beach with magnificent corals etc. Saving grace: snorkelling boat trip to glorious reef off shore and lovely Fijian staff who did so much with the little they had, to make this a memorable experience.

Great Location not 3.5 star rating

Great location. Nice beach and snorkeling steps from your beachfront bure. During our stay we had no power for the first 2 days of our holiday and were moved 3 times from bure 3 (1 night) bure 2 (1 night) bure 6 (4 nights). They have a few maintenance issues. Bure3: Wasp nest (at least 20 wasps in bure even though we had the door closed at all times. No water. Not sure about the fan and refrigerator, as power was out. The Honeymoon bure 2 has a broken taped up front window and damaged flyscreen. Ceiling fan not working. Toilet leaking. No privacy (curtains). My husband had to ask the manger on a daily basis to turn the water on. The power is turned off between 12-6amish. It is variable. When the power is off, it gets really hot in the bures especially if there is no sea breeze. May I suggest, if Botaira really needs to turn the generator/power off, to do so during the morning, so at least the ceiling fans can work all night or embrace battery technology. The food was ok for us. We are not fussy eaters or have any special dietary requirements. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, others say yes and then walk off and do nothing. Service was average to poor. If you want something done, speak to the onsite manager directly or do it yourself. It appeared the snorkeling equipment hadn’t been cleaned . Tired looking resort. We can't call it a 3.5 star. We lowered our expectations to a 2 star rating, then relaxed and made the most of it (as if backpacking).

Inget wifi. Bra för stressade själar som behöver slappna av utan stress att läsa mail ... Maten var ok men utan valmöjligheter.

Not worth the money!

- We stayed for 5 nights in July 2016 - In general, it was far too expensive for what it was. - Location was beautiful and snorkeling was good (we liked the path through the water, so you could go snorkeling in high and low tide). - There were large groups of teenagers (volunteer and leadership groups) sleeping in dorms and in tents at the resort. It was loud, unpleasant and staff was overwhelmed and unprepared to cater for such an amount of people. It was definitely not a romantic getaway. - Food was very basic, but okay, portions were small. We often had to wait a long time (e.g. they had one toaster for 60 people). - There was no fresh water at the resort. We only had salt water to shower and brush our teeth. - Our fridge didn’t work and service was basic, our room was not cleaned. We always had to make requests for services that should be self-evident. - For comparison: food and service was better at Beachcomber resort, Bounty Island and Mana Island Resort. It was not worth the money!

Неплохой отель, но есть над чем работать

Самый большой плюс отеля в том, что это настоящий затерянный рай, нет телевизора, интернета, единственный отель на острове. Тишина и покой, ощущение полной идилии. Но сам отель, конечно, оставляет желать лучшего. С водой проблемы, полдня из крана идет морская вода, но это ерунда по сравнению с тем, что очень маленький напор воды, и идет она только из душа, который кстати под открытым небом)), в раковине воды не было. Кондиционера нет, но в домике хорошо продуманы окна, и есть вентилятор, поэтому к этому можно приспособиться. Также это не место для тех, кто приезжает на отдых, чтобы отъесться для отвала, магазинов нет, поэтому рассчитывать приходится только на питание в отеле, если на завтрак скромный шведский стол, то на обед всегда приносили одну тарелку еды, мужчинам явно этого было мало. Ужин всегда был вкусный и сытный. Несмотря на эти минусы, я получила максимум удовольствия от отдыха, потому что природа и моря покрывают все. Персонал просто замечательный, обслуживание прекрасное.

Preisleistung nicht okay!!!

Personal war bis auf 2Personen sehr unfreundlich, desinteressiert das Essen war eine Frechheit für diesen Preis, zum Frühstück bekammen wir einmal Kaffee mit Obst und zwei Pfannkucken !! Aber auch das Abendessen war nicht besonders.

Real Fiji experience

From when we first hopped on the transfer boat and the beach Botaira was one of my favourites. The welcome and main hunt just completely what you want a FIJI to be. Homely, friendly, welcoming and traditional. The staff are lovely and sang through each of our meals. The gave a great concert on the first night with traditional singing and dance. The beach front villa was very large with beautiful Fiji pattern painted on the high ceiling. I had a nice bathroom and hot water in the evenings and a fridge. They provide fresh water in the room daily and had a good selection of free activates and even though at dinner there were a few guests you felt like that the whole place was just yours. We did a village visit and this is well worth it. Snorkelling and swimming is good as is many places in Fiji. I did not want to leave and I would return in a heart beat.

Fabulous, genuine Fijian stay!

I just spent 7 nights at this fabulous place with my Mum and Aunty (girls relaxing getaway).... We had Bure 4 which is Oceanfront and it was absolutely perfect for us. :-) We had researched this place before we went so we knew it would suit us but the staff and other guests made it even more perfect and extremely enjoyable for us. The snorkelling straight off the beach is great with lots of fish, clams and other sealife. Shells on the sand were beautiful and the frangipanis, hibiscuses and bougainvilleas plants were scattered around the property and regularly show up in our room, restaurant and behind our ears! :-) Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner was always great and we never were hungry. You have to remember you are in a remote area so the meals are not like a restaurant you would find in a town but I thought they did an enviable job serving all the guests such variety. Most their produce is grown at the back of the property and fish caught freshly made up a yummy menu choice. Entertainment was always a joy. Their voices and harmony are just lovely to listen to. We enjoyed activities such as bracelet making and basket weaving - both using palm fronds, spear throwing, coconut husking, crab racing, dancing with locals, village church visit, snorkelling with Manta Rays, the list goes on.... I can't wait to go back again and again. I feel this could become my new second home :-)

Relaxing resort in a stunning location

If you want 5-star amenities, with a spa, pool, golf-course, Master-chef quality food etc. this is not your resort. However, if you want a quiet resort, staff who treat you with respect (and who randomly pick up guitars and start singing in harmony) and with genuine kindness and friendliness, a stunning environment with a home reef that is a marine reserve, and an opportunity to visit the local village where a lot of the staff have their homes, then this is your place. It does have one main challenge - limited amounts of fresh water as it hasn't rained in the Yasawas since February. The food was good, plentiful and varied (but not gourmet). It is a place to really relax, and enjoy the important things in life. We stayed for a week in mid-June, and thoroughly recommend it as a get-away.

Relaxing at it's best right on the water!

This was a fabulous place. Greeted with songs and cool beverages, the staff were warm and friendly. By the end of our stay we hated to leave because it felt like we were leaving family. The burre was beautiful with flowers and shells. The food was very good and choices at each meal were unexpected compared to other rustic resorts of this style. New Years eve was a fun celebration with guests and villagers. Snorkeling was amazing and only a couple of yards from our front door. The lovely private shade porch was perfect after leaving the water. I can not wait to go back.

Bad experience

The resort is old and not maintained at all. Maybe 10 years ago the rooms were nice, but now they are old and not clean. Even the shower does not work. During the night there is no electricity because they stop the electricity generator to save fuel. There is no air-conditioning, no internet and no GSM connection in Botaira . We had "the best bure on the beach" with a real RAT on the room -coming every night. Even starting to eat our shoes. Some people from the staff had a infection on their skin, explaining us that almost all the people from the village next to the resort had the same. Otherwise the staff is trying to do their best, but without management and investments -there is only beautiful lagoon and dissapointed guests .
