It was excellent until the other renters came in the adjacent town house. They were loud and we could hear everything. The complex was nice. Provided some outdoor amenities: a spicket to rinse feet from the beach, volleyball court and corn hole game.

The property manager was great. They responded quickly to the issues we had. The cleanliness of the house was terrible. There was pee stains on the matters covers on the majority of the beds. It was so bad that we had to sleep sitting on the couch the first night. The floors were sandy and gritty. The cold air return on the second floor was filthy. The stove top had food on the burner that had not been cleaned off. There was dust on the TV screen that made it hard to see the program. The deck had a board pulled up with nails sticking up. I tripped on the board and almost fell. The washing machine was making a terrible noice. We called to have it checked out. The agency was given permission by the owner to have it checked, no one ever showed up to fix it.

Back 2 The Beach

Overall was good but we were not prepared for the number of stairs in the unit and the handrails that only went part way. We feel that somethings should have been in place i.e. no toilet paper in the unit when we arrived or hand sanitizer.

This house had everything you want to appreciate the obx. Close enough to great local attractions. Great beach front property. Amazing sunrises. Highly recommend.

Excellent location better than advertised

The house has a better view of the beach than the listing shows , so that was a wonderful surprise . The house is private but close enough to everything, very convenient location. Definitely a great place to stay.

Great location to beach

Great view and great location to beach. A little bit of a walk to get to beach but not bad at all. Appliances all worked well. The only critical comment is the place really needs a vacuum sweeper to clean up sand. We swept with broom and got about 2 cups of sand off floors when we arrived. Other than that it was an awesome place. They must have been having problems with AC but had 4 temporary window units installed. Worked very well. One other issue is we paid for the linens but they did not arrive until we called the next day.

Nice place but could have been cleaned better

The house was nice, however the house was not cleaned very well. I was told that housekeeping was very short staffed, but there was dust in the air conditioning vents amongst other places and sand in some of the beds. I did call the rental place and they said that they could send someone over to clean, but i had told them that i had already cleaned what needed to be cleaned. I cleaned and did laundry on my first day of vacation, which I was not expecting to do.

Convent location with a view you can't beat!

We've stayed at other properties in Dunes South and this one earns 5 stars for location. You can't beat the view from the top deck and beach access is only a 30 second walk. The beach was clean, uncrowded, and conveniently located between two piers that offer food, activities and sights to see. The house could have used a little updating but if you aren't bothered by a bit of wear and tear it will do just fine. The property is also a duplex so you'll have to keep the possibility of having neighbors in mind. The house offered everything we needed for cooking. We opted to not rent linens and just brought our own towels and sheets. Pillows and comforters were still provided which was a plus. Overall great stay for our family and we look forward to renting again in the future!

Great location!

This unit has the best location in the complex, it's right on the beach with an amazing porch that overlooks the ocean. It was clean and well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The only slight issue was the thin walls between the it and the adjoining unit. It wasn't bad but you knew you had neighbors.

Girlfriends get-away

We booked this through VRBO, but the rest of our contact was with a realty company. House description was accurate. Right on the ocean, but due to the dunes you do have to walk a short distance to the beach access. As noted in other reviews the stairs to the loft are steep so we did not use that bed. The kitchen is well equipped. The only problem there was the ice maker wasn’t working and did not get repaired during our stay. Overall the bathrooms and kitchen were clean, but the floors were not very clean. Dust bunnies and hair. We did not use the linen service so can’t comment on that.

Great stay

Great location, perfect clean beach, enough space for 2 families. Saw dolphins, played in the waves, sat on porch, great sunrise and sunset. Property manager always available for any questions that we have.

Great Location

The condo is in a wonderful location. Beach is nice and wide, two piers are within walking distance on the beach or the bike/walking trail. We were concerned about having to walk around a couple of the other condos to get to beach access. It wasn't a huge deal, but I would prefer to have direct access from the house, especially with a child. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for a rental! However, it is a pain having to provide our own sheets and towels for a week vacation when we are packing a car for a 9 hour drive. Would really love to see these be included. At least bath towels and bathmats! Kitchen, dining and living area were great layout and setup for our family. Kitchen had everything we need. Was nice to have a regular coffee maker, since we brought ground coffee, but there was also a Keurig for those who prefer pods. All cooking, bottle opening, crab leg cracking, etc needs were met with what was provided. Agree with previous reviewers about the loft stairs being too steep for older folks or kids. Its really best for a teen or tween only. We are 6 adults and one small child - the child took the bunk bedroom and we put one couple in the loft. We made it work, but it wasn't ideal. If you don't need the loft for adults, this is a wonderful option! Having a good outdoor shower is key after sandy beach days before going back into the house, so the very private outdoor shower setup was appreciated. The house and furniture was in pretty decent shape for a rental. No complaints there. As for cleanliness, it was as expected for a beach rental. You can never really get all the sand out in one morning after one departure and before another arrival. So that's not a big deal. The management we spoke with was kind and helpful. We didn't have any maintenance or other issues, so didn't have to worry about that. Area is great, as its far enough from the center of the action to be quiet and not too crowded. However, a short drive gets you to restaurants, shopping, etc.

First Time in Nags Head

This was our first family vacation in Nag’s Head. We will be back. We loved the property, better in person than in pictures. Great location. Clean and well maintained. Only comment would be having to go to the reality office in person to get the check in code for entry. We have not had to do that for a vacation renal in years. Would recommend for a great family vacation!

Beautiful views on the top level

My family and I enjoyed the Back to the Beach rental last week. We had gorgeous weather for October! The house is nice if you don't mind a lot of stairs. The deck and the living room offer amazing views of the beach. The kitchen was organized and it was nice the rental included a high chair and baby gates for my 1 year old baby. Downsides - it was clean but not pristine clean. The first day we checked-in, I was unpacking in my barefeet and I realized I had black soot on my feet. The floors were very grimmy. The L-shape couch had popcorn, sand and crumbs in the cracks not from us. Also, we checked-in and there was not a single toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags or soap provided. I never stayed at a OBX rental where they did not provide at least a few TP's and maybe one roll of paper towels or soap to get you started. Lastly I am not sure how or why Carolina Shores is allowed to go to VRBO for the rentals. It's not Vacation Rental by Owner, it's Vacation rental by Carolina Shores. Because of that, you can't pay your balance through the app, they don't message you any check-in instructions and then you have to check-in, in person at their office for a keyless entry! At 4pm which is a later check-in. I would not do another rental through VRBO/Carolina Shores again because of the reasons above.

Beach House

When we checked in the space had a lot of sand still on the floors and the furniture, seemed not swept at all. The decks need some attention as far as loose boards and things like that. And the shower head was broken in the master bathroom. But aside from that we had a great stay, the location is pretty amazing.

Close to Beach

Great location to beach. House is a little beaten from being a rental. It could use some normal maintenance, but otherwise was clean. It really sleeps 7 - 8 at most. The loft in kitchen gets very warm.

Beach access a little difficult

Great view of Atlantic. It appears from pictures that you can just walk right out the front door onto the beach. That is not so. You have to walk down a couple houses, then up and over a sand dune (with all your things) to get from Condo to beach and back.
