Manzano Mountain cabin near Mountainair NM

Beautiful, out of the way, off the grid. You are relying on our almost always sunny sky for the solar power that runs this mountain cabin. Newly completed mountain home located in the Cibola National Forest. At 7,800 feet elevation, we have cool nights perfect for restful sleep. There are endless hiking trails or you can just relax on the large screened in deck. Be sure to visit nearby Quarai ruins (13 miles), an ancient city built of red stones which is part of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Moment. Also visit the little village of Mountainair (13 miles) and shop for art and explore the National Parks museum and book store.

Charming cabin in the forest!

This place is a gem! Wayne is a friendly host who is responsive and helpful in every aspect. The cabin is very clean, comfortable and it was perfect for our group. We really enjoyed sharing the forest with the deer, chipmunks, turkeys, and especially the Stellar Jays that visit the tree right off of the screened in porch! We also loved the woodburning fireplaces and spent hours watching the impressive night skies around the outdoor one!

This property is peaceful and beautiful. I brought my 76 year old mother here to visit her cousin. This is not the place you go for shopping, dining, etc. I wasn't prepared and one night we couldn't find anything to eat. This is a small town. Not a lot of options (food, gas, grocery, pharmacy, etc) and everything closes early. The tub/shower combo was hard for her to get in and out of (high). I wish I had more time to enjoy the cabin and surrounding area. This place would have been perfect if I were alone or with my husband/kids. There's a hammock, a swing set, an outdoor fireplace, a screened in porch, a grill. The kitchen is great. A wonderful place that I would love to stay again just without my older adult.

Thunderbird Ranch cabin

This was perfect for us. The house was immaculate, completely furnished, and we especially loved the large, fully screened upstairs porch. The location was very near the National Forest Trail heads, and the hiking was exceptional. We will definitely stay there again sometime. Thanks Wayne!

Always a peaceful stay

We’ve stayed here about 4 times now. We have come once a year since me and my partner met. It’s so peaceful and lovely. We drink coffee on the screened in porch, read and take a bath. It’s always perfect. We look forward to our trip next year!

Forest cabin!

We enjoyed the peaceful and relaxing cabin. The cabin is beautiful with full wall windows looking out to the forest. Enjoyed seeing deer and squirrels The screened in porch overlooking the pond is fun. Make sure you bring all your food and your own coffee. No coffee makers or hair dryers because of the solar. Yiu make coffee using a tea kettle to heat water and a drip pot. Hope to return in the future with family.

Just Wow! Beautiful little mountain cabin in gorgeous setting!

We enjoyed our time so much in this beautiful, comfy cabin so much! Our time there was so relaxing! You will travel 7 miles through the forest to get there. It’s a lovely drive to get these little oasis nestled in the woods! Seeing the wildlife right outside the door was wonderful! Bring bird seed and peanuts and enjoy the birds, squirrels and chipmunks everyday! The cabin is very clean, comfy beds, and a kitchen that is stocked with everything you can imagine! Morning coffee on the screened in balcony is a treat with a view for sure! We highly recommend!

Great Time in the Wilderness!

It was so nice to get away from the city for the weekend. Wayne was accommodating and everything was as advertised. A great rate too, in my opinion. Will likely be returning at some point. A++

Beautiful remote location!

If you enjoy the quite forest areas, you will love this location. As with all remote locations you need to drive to any large cities or tourist locations. Town of Mountainair has gas, grocery and shops which is only 10-15 minute drive. Everything we needed.

Absolutely Stunning!

The cabin was more than we could have ever asked for! The pictures don't do it justice! It was beautiful, spacious, cozy, and so wonderful! Plus, the hosts were so helpful, kind, and accommodating, you can't help but love them! If you're in the Mountainair area you'll truly miss out if you don't stay here! We will recommend it to everyone. We are not ones to go back to the same place twice, but we would go back here in a heartbeat. We also loved all of the hikes that were nearby.

Our Peaceful Getaway

Wow! This place was absolutely amazing! My sister and enjoyed our stay. If we could have stayed longer we would have. The house was equipped with everything you could need. The beds were super comfy and it was amazing being able to wake up, look out the windows and see the wildlife! We were able to explore the property as well as driving around the forest. The views were endless. I would definitely recommend staying here! Wayne was wonderful! We came in later in the evening and were not sure what route to take so Wayne send us step-by-step directions from where we were at. He was very prompt with communicating with us and it was greatly appreciated.

44TH Anniversary

The house is fabulous. The view of of the pond from the upper back covered deck was wonderful. The kitchen is better than what you will find in most house; large and spacious. We saw 10 mule deer I don't how many birds and squirrels. Supper quite. I happened to leave my cell phone and they owner were supper in working with me to get it back to me. I highly recommend the home.

Peace and Quiet in the Forest

We had a peaceful and wonderful time. The photos really don't do it justice. It is a lovely getaway from modern life. :-) Wayne is a very kind man who really makes the whole forest feel like home.

Lovely cabin

Me and my partner had a lovely time in this off grid secluded cabin. We had a nice fire. Looked at the stars and took a bath in the lovely claw foot tub. It was so peaceful. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you!!

Mountain Cabin

Secluded and off the beaten path. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this scenic cabin. Wayne was a great host and gave us an interesting background on the property shortly after we arrived. A great way to spend a weekend!

Peace, quiet, comfort, and kindness

We are frequent HomeAway customers, and this place has been one of the best. The picture do not do the place justice. Beautiful, cozy, immaculately clean, with exceptionally kind owners. Mr. Wester even offered to drive into town to guide us into the property . We were greeted by warm beds and a homemade bottle of wine. We will definitely come back soon.
