The loft area is the architectural heart of the apartment. It consists of two large open and adjacent spaces, placed on levels of different heights. This variation gives the place its relief, its rhythm and its character, without cutting off traffic. You pass naturally from one zone to another, as in an urban interior space where each section has its function, its ambiance and its presence.

Entrance and first section of the loft area

The entrance gives access to the first open section of the loft area. This part hosts the living room and also serves as a distribution point to the closed bedrooms. It has a lower, more enveloping, and more intimate ambiance, while remaining connected to the rest of the apartment.

Living room

The living room is located in this first section of the loft area. It is a comfortable, open space, but it can be partially partitioned to become an additional sleeping area. It can therefore be used as much as a place to relax as a space to sleep, while maintaining the flexible and lively spirit of the loft.

A quality audio system is also present in the living room, to fully enjoy the music and give more depth to the atmosphere of the place.

Closed rooms

The rooms are accessible from the section where the entrance and living room are located. They offer real privacy, which is important in an apartment with a large open loft area. We thus take advantage of the spectacular nature of the common areas, while having real closed rooms to sleep.

Room with balcony

One of the closed rooms has a balcony directly overlooking the street corner. This openness creates a more direct link with the neighborhood and its movement, while maintaining the privacy of a real separate bedroom. It is a room with a more urban presence, connected to the energy of the street.

Elevated loft area

The raised part brings together the kitchen, the dining room, the counter area and the mixed space. It's the friendliest part of the loft: a place to cook, eat, chat, work, drink coffee, or extend the evening. It also gives access to the large bathroom with steam room and to the terrace, making it an area that is both practical, lively and central.

Kitchen

The kitchen is an integral part of the raised loft area. It is not isolated or hidden: it contributes to the general atmosphere of the place. Functional, open and urban, it allows you to prepare a meal while remaining connected to the dining room, the counter and the surrounding living space.

Dining room

The dining room is a continuation of the kitchen and the counter area. It is a simple, warm and lively space, designed for quiet meals as well as for long discussions. It takes advantage of the open character of the loft area, without giving the impression of a fixed or too formal space.

Counter area

The counter area adds convenience and spontaneity to the raised space. It's the perfect spot to get coffee, have a drink, make something quick, or just stay in the flow of the kitchen and dining room. It reinforces the friendly and urban side of the loft.

Mixed space

The mixed space, located in the elevated area, can be used as needed: reading corner, work area, transition area or place to sit quietly. It adds flexibility to the space without losing the open spirit of the loft.

Terrace

The terrace is accessible from the raised loft area. It naturally extends the interior space to the outside. It is a place to get some fresh air, drink a coffee, sit down for a while or end the day outside, while keeping in touch with the energy of the loft.

Bathroom with steam room

Accessible from the raised loft area, the large bathroom with steam room is one of the most distinctive elements of the apartment. It is not just a decorative addition, but a true experience of warmth, steam and relaxation. The steam room forms an enveloping space in its own right, designed to slow down, warm up, unwind and give the living room a more sensory dimension.

The building

The building is simple and modest from the outside, with unpretentious common areas, such as several older urban buildings in Montreal. However, it has a particular history: the current building actually combines two distinct ancient buildings, which are now linked together.

This configuration explains some unique aspects of the loft, including the differences in levels inside and the presence of distinct entrances to the building. These entrances are not presented as entrances to be used on a daily basis, but they help to make the places well organized and reassuring, with clear and easy to locate exits.

The ground floor is occupied by small commercial premises and offices, while the residential part, upstairs, is limited to two units. The loft thus benefits from a more intimate atmosphere than in a large residential building, with very well soundproofed spaces.

Once inside, the contrast is revealed naturally: a vast, bright and warm place, whose character comes precisely from this somewhat atypical story.
