The hosts live onsite in an apartment within the main villa building. They are very discreet and obviously have a passion for their property. The pool and gardens cannot be faulted. the setting is seriene and the views spectacular. However the house is in need of some maintenance. There is a smell from the drains which was a constant for the whole time we were there. There is a also a very pungent smell from the tap / shower water, which could be described a sulphurous. This became quite overwhelming at times. There is no Air Conditioning in the main living area. this space was constantly stifling, even with windows open there was not enough ventilation to make the room comfortable. We had to keep the windows open, and due to the poor condition of the flyscreens , the living space and kitchen became a haven for hungry mosquitoes. The fridge in the kitchen is not operating to a sufficiently low enough temperature to preserve fresh foods like meat and dairy. Therefore we could not stock up on supplys which albeit a minor inconvenience, only needs a replacement fridge to rectify. We were a family group of granparents, parents and a toddler. There are some safety items availability for toddlers, however in our experience, the interior of the villa is not suitable for young children. In summary this is a lovely property with great gardens pool and view. However the utilites need some maintenance and it's not suitable for a young child.

A beautiful Tuscan retreat.

Thank you Danny and Jeanette for making our stay so wonderful. Your home was truly a peaceful and beautiful experience. The pool was amazing and the location was perfect for taking day trips to explore several gems in Tuscany. Danny and Jeanette gave us many wonderful recommendations of places to go and see. The cafe in Monterchi, Bar Frizzino, had some of the best pastries we’ve yet to have on our trip through Italy and dinner Ristorante La Pieve Vecchia had incredible food and unbeatable views. We highly recommend staying here!

Wunderbarer Urlaub in einem kleinen Paradies

Wir haben gemeinsam mit der Familie eine Woche in diesem bezaubernden toskanischen Ferienhaus verbracht. Ein bestens ausgestattetes Wohnhaus, ein weitläufiges und gepflegtes Grundstück mit herrlichem Ausblick, ein großer Pool mit diversen Sitzmöglichkeiten, Außenküche, Grill…Es fehlte an nichts. Unsere sehr freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Gastgeber Danny und Janette waren bei Fragen immer ansprechbar. Unsere drei Enkelkinder und wir Erwachsenen haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder. Ganz große Empfehlung!!!

Well situated location

I deliberately chose this place for several reasons. Our group was comprised of 4 couples. The house provided ample room and privacy for our group. The location of the house made it possible to do day trips with no driving time over two hours. There were excellent restaurants nearby and all without tourist crowds. We were able to visit Arezzo, Perugia, Asissi, Orvieto, Paenza, Florence, Cortona, Siena as well as going on a wine tasting and a cheese tasting tours at nearby locations. In addition, the house is close to Citta di Castello that has two large supermarkets for groceries. The location is indeed quite advantageous.

Wonderful stay in the Tuscan Hills

We enjoyed a wonderful fortnight's stay at this beautiful home in the hills outside the village of Monterchi. The house sits on a ridge with far reaching views across the surrounding valleys, particularly stunning from the swimming pool. The owners were kind and thoughtful and there to offer assistance whenever needed. Their recommendations were spot on, especially the gelateria at the end of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence!!! There were so many beautiful places to visit within easy reach that the house was a perfect launch pad into Tuscany and Umbria. A lovely circular walk from the house towards an elegant castle, allows you to enjoy the setting of the house in this rural paradise. The pool, with its kitchen and shower set in gorgeous gardens, was the the star of the show, the only problem was dragging the kids away! We visited in late July/early August when a music fesitval was on and we enjoyed a wonderful evening of open air jazz in the square in Monterchi, filled with locals rather than tourists.

Dreams do come true

Hvis man drømmer om det hyggelige autentisk Toscana så er det her drømmestedet. Udsigt og stemning er som taget ud fra en film. Jeg har aldrig før prøvet at blive mødt og modtaget af så omsorgsfulde og venlige udlejere. Danny og Jeanette gjorde mere end man kan drømme om. Huset er gammelt rustikt og cozy🙏 Vk som familie elskede vores uge her i Montechi ❤️ Vil så gerne tilbage og kan kun anbefale det til alle 🤩

Vacances extraordinaires

Nous avons passé 17 jours en Italie dont 7 dans cette extraordinaire propriété. Lorsque je demande à mes filles de 11 à 16 ans ce qu'elles ont préféré, elles me parlent de la piscine de Podere Borgacciano! Nos hôtes ont été extraordinaires avant, pendant et après l'arrivée. Nous étions deux familles de 5 et la maison était bien assez grande! Un peu chaud à la cuisine mais nous avons majoritairement mangé dehors au pool house. Les chambres étaient bien climatisées. Quoi dire de plus? Nous étions chaque jours déchirée entre rester simplement èa la maison et aller visiter les environs! La maison est bien située. Tout près il ya Monterchi, Citerna, Anghiari qui valent toutes un détours matinal pour y prendre le lunch avant de revenir profiter de la majestueuse piscine pour le reste de l'après-Midi. Perouse et Assise sont aussi accessibles à environ une heure de route. Musée Civico de Sansepolcro tout près, très peu de touristes! Fabriques d'huile d'olive et petits vignobles où vous parlerez avec le vigneron lui-même! Pas d'attrape touristes dans les environs! Que du vrai! Merci à Danny et Jeanette pour tout! Nous sommes chanceux d'avoir séjourné chez vous!

Monterchi 2022

The property was comfortable and had everything that was needed for our stay. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed spending our evenings sitting out at the pool area across from the house. We made full use of the poolside kitchen and barbecue area. Danny and Jeanette were very welcoming hosts and were extremely helpful when our hire car broke down on the way to the property and helped to quickly resolve a leak. Their knowledge and expertise of the local area meant that we had enriching experiences of the local culture and sights. We would recommend visiting this area to anyone. It is beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt and the places we visited were magical! We hope to return in the future.

Fantastic villa and experience in rural Tuscany

Our family had a wonderful time at this exceptional property located at the Tuscany/Umbria border. The house and accommodation are spacious and beautifully laid out. The views remarkable with multiple external spaces to sit all round the house in the beautiful garden, and wonderful fruit to pick (figs at the time we stayed). The pool area is absolutely amazing: wonderful 14 m pool with lovely setting and views, multiple seating areas and kitchen. I could say much more about the house. The setting is also wonderful with local villages, rich art and restaurants. The delightful owners Janette and Danny pointed us to what to do which included a wonderful outdoor music festival at Anghiari and a long walk of the local hills.

Peaceful and beautiful

There were six of us in our group and we all thoroughly enjoyed and made the most out of the beautiful grounds and pool area. It’s a great space for socialising and eating meals together, and we took advantage of the BBQ a few times too. While the kitchen has most of what you need, it’s quite a small space and does get very hot, so cooking was a bit stressful. Some things could also use a bit of updating, such as fixing the fridge and washing machine doors. We definitely suggest drinking the fantastic wine they have there! Janette and Danny were super helpful with any requests we had, and went out of their way to help us book a taxi. Thank you for the great stay!

Monterchi Paradise

My wife and I stayed with friends for a week at Podere Borgacciano in early July. The property is traditional Tuscan, with air conditioning in the bedrooms which was very welcome. The location had spectacular vistas across open countryside to hill top villages. The gardens are beautiful and well attended. In particular the pool area had a tremendous variety of butterflies and nectar seeking insect life on the lavender plants which kept us amused for ages. The pool location, again with great views over the countryside had the added bonus of having an equipped kitchen, barbeque and pizza oven and under cover eating area where we had most of our meals. All in all a very restful week spent at Podere Borgacciano to recharge the batteries.

Beautiful villa

My husband and I had a wonderful 9 days staying in this beautiful villa. This is the 6th house we have rented in Tuscany and our favorite. There are so many beautiful places to enjoy on the property. Directly across the street is the pool which is huge, a large pool patio and an outdoor kitchen. It was like having our own private resort. The owners stay directly next door when they are in Italy which was something new for us as our other rentals were completely private. However, we really enjoyed having them close by for several reasons. First, they are a wonderful couple to talk to, so nice and very interesting. Second, any time I had a question about something or needed advice, I could walk next door and ask. Even though they were close by, they were not the least bit intrusive and we had plenty of privacy. The views surrounding the villa were breathtaking and the location was very convenient. There was a small grocery store 5 minutes away and a number of good restaurants nearby. We just loved this place! Thank you Danny and Janette

What a lovely place and what a beautiful setting!

What a lovely place and what a beautiful setting! We had a fantastic week with our friends in and around the pool. The swimming pool is the most beautiful and largest pool we have ever had in a rented house. So wonderfully refreshing during the hot days. The view from the swimming pool and the house is breathtaking. And The many lavender in the garden smells fantastic. We have had many lazy days by the pool, but a visit to Arezzo is also recommended. Also nearby are plenty of nice picturesque villages to view. The owners Janet and Danny are super sweet and friendly people. They do everything to make your visit as pleasant as possible. They even welcomed us very kindly when we had a breakdown with our car. We will never forget this vacation! It was a very special one. Thank you again also on behalf of our friends. Beautifull spot

Despite the pandemic we had the most wonderfull family holiday at Podere Borgacciano. The house is beautifull and has everything You need for a relaxed and comfortable holiday. The surroundings and views are amazing. There is a lot of privacy. The children loved the great infinity pool. Altough the owners were not there they have been very helpfull , thank You Danny and Janette! Hope to meet You in the future, definitely a place to remember!

Podere Bogacciano exceeded our expectations!. The property is just beautiful, with spots to sit and enjoy the views at every turn. The infinity pool and outdoor kitchen were wonderful. We hated to leave to explore the area. Pienza, Orvieto, Sansepulcro etc were great day trips. Monterchi is tiny but has two good restaurants and several places for coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

We had barely landed back in Canada before we were discussing how and when we can return to Italy, and, more particularly, the villa Podere Borgacciano! We spent a week at the villa in early July 2019 and had the most wonderful time and experienced the most wonderful scenery and towns of this region of Tuscany. The day trips to Castiglion Fiorentino, Cortona, Siena, Anghiari, Citerna, Sansepolcro, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, etc. were just fantastic. We would generally drive to these towns in the morning and return to villa in the late afternoon to enjoy the beautiful pool and some of the fine organic PB wine… who could ask for better!? The villa is lovely and we appreciated the air conditioning in the bedrooms, the ensuite bathrooms, and all the kitchen amenities! The gardens, patio and pool area are beautiful and well maintained and the views are breathtaking. We usually ate breakfast outside on the patio, enjoying the peace and quiet (but for the singing birds), cool and stillness of the morning, and the beautiful views of Monterchi. It was heaven on earth. We made several trips to Marcello’s market, and he was always warm and friendly and as helpful as he could be given our limited Italian. Our lively interactions with Marcello and his staff were always very enjoyable, though, as we were made to feel as welcome as all the locals who frequented his shop. Danny and Janette were lovely hosts. They provided us with a huge amount of information on the culture and history of the area, and introduced us to some lovely restaurants that we otherwise wouldn’t have experienced if not for their recommendations. We shared a dinner at the restaurant in Monterchi’s main piazza one evening, and as luck would have it, there was an outdoor concert in the piazza as well, which made for a magical evening under the Tuscan moon. We also had a lovely lunch with them at Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, another gorgeous medieval hill-top town we would probably not have known about if it wasn’t for Danny’s and Janette’s local insights.
