"We recently spent a night in a deluxe room to break up our return journey home from the Hebrides. We love older, quirky hotels and this one is a real gem. Firstly the grounds are stunning and our early morning walk beside the river was a wonderful way to start the day. The hotel itself has lots of character, but don't come here expecting polished perfection. Some areas of the hotel look a little tired and could do with refurbishing, but all the bits that mattered were fabulous and everywhere...

"A handy stop on our drive from London to Ullapool in a beautiful location, the staff were very friendly, the room was clean and more than adequate for our needs. We didn’t have breakfast but dinner the night before was good. Also handily close by was a small shop selling essentials and a garage with petrol where we were able to fill up and purchase an indicator bulb for the car."

"The team were fantastic and really welcoming throughout the stay. The food in the restaurant was top notch ( I highly recommend the bacon steak) as was the breakfast in the morning. The room itself was comfortable with apps available on the TV which is great . Top marks for the shower 10/10 for power. A surprisingly excellent stay."

"The public areas were a bit dark and gloomy. The bedroom was hot and stuffy even with the windows open. Some furniture was quite old fashioned but the bed was comfortable enough. The food was OK but lacked better wine choices. The breakfast was a bit too greasy. Staff were friendly and helpful."
