Location

Mendrisio lies a few kilometres from the Italian border. The old town quarter is very appealing with its narrow lanes, old Palazzi, historic churches and the medieval tower at Piazza del Ponte. There is also an art museum situated in an old monastery.

There are many opportunities for hiking and mountain biking in the local area. Monte Generoso (at 1601 m the highest mountain south of Lake Lugano) has two trails and fantastic views of Lake Lugano and the Alps.

The town is approximately a 20-minute drive south of Lugano and a day trip on the Lake, sailing between Switzerland and Italy is a must, as is an aperitivo in Lugano’s main square and historic centre, Piazza della Riforma.

Lake Como (a 45-minute drive) and Lombardy lie just over the border in Northern Italy. Valle di Muggio (a primal pre-Alpine valley) where a wide variety of fauna, flora and rocks can be admired in the natural park of the Gole della Breggia which is approximately a 15-minute drive from the accommodation.

The property is a 15-minute walk (7 minutes by bus) from the train station, where connections to Lugano and Como can be found.

The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa Airport, approximately a 45-minute drive from the accommodation.
