Large River Home with private pool, basketball court, private, pool table

Secluded home on a Guadalupe River canal centrally located to the Central Texas activities. Popular with large groups such as family reunions and retreats. Also works well with smaller families. Activities include private pool, river, canoe, pool table and basketball court. Large backyard. Unlimited parking. Works well with wheelchairs. The canal is wide enough and deep enough for a boat. Fish off the bank or in the canoe. Pet fee $95.

The 4400 square foot house has 7 bedrooms and 4 full size bath and sleeps 20 people. Built in 2013. All rooms are on the ground floor except for 2 bedrooms and a bath. The living room is larger than average. Located 9 miles from New Braunfels, 4 miles outside Seguin and 22 miles to San Antonio.

Area activities include Schlitterbahn, Sea World, ZDT, Fiesta Texas, San Marcos Outlet Mall, San Antonio Riverwalk, San Antonio zoo and the Alamo. Pool closes November 15th.

This home has everything you need if you have a large family or group. We had a family weekend of 15. Love the layout!!! The very spacious open concept kept everyone engaged. Very clean and well maintained, lots of towels provided. The beds were comfy and definitely no shortage of bathrooms. The pool was clean, with lots of seating. I really like the fact that the pool was gated and secured, so no chance of the little ones accessing it without an adult. Love the seclusion of the property. Saw a few wild turkeys and a coyote. The river was a little low, but the fish were still biting. The large windows facing the back of the property gave a nice view but still very private the list of pros goes on and on. The owner responded to questions rather quickly. I definitely recommend this place.

The house is large with plenty of room for a lot of people. That was the best part of the place. We were not able to use one of the beds because the bed frame was broken on one side. In the one bedroom with a private bathroom, the sink wouldn’t drain so we could not use the sink, only the shower and toilet. The beds we used were not comfortable. The overall cleanliness of the house was fair. For the price I was expecting more.

Very comfortable and plenty of room for everyone. It was cold out so we did enjoy the firepit but were'nt rwally able to check out the pool and the rest of the property. The kitchen had everything anyone could need.

We loved all the space and open concept of the dining area. Lots of room for family to get together and hang out. We would stay there again. The pool was cloudy so that was a bit of a bummer, but all and all a great place for a large family.

Overall cleanliness of home was not good. Although plenty of bedrooms, one was unusable due to bugs (ants, bees and what appeared to be maggots). Water damage throughout home. Pool ok but pool furniture worn and not sturdy.

The house was perfect for our large group! We loved having the pool to entertain the kids while the adults could rest in the afternoons. The kitchen had everything we needed and was the perfect open concept so all of our group could spend time together. The location was close to New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Seguin so everything we wanted to do was really close. The air conditioning wasn’t working when we got there and Randy was there with a repairman within minutes to add the coolant needed. We were impressed with his response time to our issue. Overall, it was a wonderful stay for us!

Not what we expected for the price

Took our family vacation, children and grandchildren. I’ll start with what was good. There was plenty of room for everyone and the pool was great. They did provide some towels, toilet paper, washer and dryer which was great. The cons were the home was dirty. They charge a cleaning fee but the fans in the living room looked like they had not been cleaned in a year. The curtains in the living room were stained and dirty, the kitchen was not clean. There was food splattered on the cabinets, walls, no vent for the stove, the toaster was old and dirty inside, we did not use. The walls by the ac vents had thick dust and most of us have allergies. I woke up every day with my eyes swollen and my throat hurting. There is a hole in the ceiling near the entry. One of the bathrooms down stairs smelt of sewage and had a gap behind the toilet. The beds were not comfortable. The outdoor furniture is old and mismatched and there is a hole in the concrete by the pool and the tile was very slippery. The barbecue pit is filthy and when we tried to use it, it caught fire because it had not been cleaned. The creek behind the home is not usable for fishing, kayaking, or basically anything. The cleaning fee is too high for how dirty it was. I had to clean and sweep upon arrival. We would not rent again due to the price and cleanliness. By the time we left all the kids had runny noses. The Pool sticks were old with broken or missing tips and check out is at 11 but they showed up at 10am.

Large River House

Overall just ok, house was big enough to accommodate all of our family. However, the house was a little bit older a little disappointed that the patio table in the pool area were in separate places the pool had really narrow edge that clearly had a lack of maintenance. The outside patio furniture and furniture looked rather worn and old, all of our family said the beds were bad. The one that me and my husband slept in constantly squeaked every time you would move the dishwasher did not work. They had a grill however we had to buy propane for it because it was empty, and it was by a railroad track or literally you could wave at the conductor and see him clearly. Landscaping not well maintain lots of ants, which is expected due to be in Texas. Upon checkout, we were told checkout time was at 11 maintenance came by at 10 o’clock while we were packing. Kind of weird…felt kind of rushed to get out of there, although he did say take your time getting out and was very nice. I would definitely give this a good review however probably will not book again only because I would like something a little bit newer and modern but If you just need a house with lots of rooms, reasonably priced this will be ok for sleeping just know it is a bit older and dated.

Absolutely Perfect!!!

We loved this property!! The location is wonderful. Right in between Seguin and New Braunfels. The house is in a secluded place at the end of an alley road, I know that sounds crazy but it is actually PERFECT & PRIVATE! We went on walks in the morning and the area is safe and friendly. There is a Dollar General in walking distance. The pool and house are so clean. The ac worked excellent! It is very comfortable and the floor plan is great for a big group. The host was very friendly! We will absolutely stay again.

Our family of 20 stayed and the home was wonderful. Very spacious. Allowed everyone to have their own personal space to unwind while giving us plenty of room to congregate also. The pool was clean and very refreshing in this Texas heat. Dollar General right around the corner for everything you may have forgotten. We did spend an afternoon I. Gruene that we enjoyed Randy, thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

For the price wasn’t bad.

The house was fine, it was not disclosed that it is literally fear from a train track, but there was only one train that came by the last night we were there. Pool was great, the students enjoyed it and it met the needs for an economical price!

Not clean, Not as described

I made a reservation with VRBO and when my family and friends arrived there, the place looked like it had not been cleaned in days. Location of house was in a secluded spot in front of railroad tracks. The outside of house was dingy and rundown and looked not maintained. The bottom of pool was dirty and we were afraid to make use of it. The basketball court was in front of old railroad track. The interior of the home was decent and good atmosphere but not clean and well maintained as shown in the photos. The floors were dirty and dusty, not swept or mopped. It was so dusty that one of my friend's allergies flared up. The bathroom looked as if someone used it before us, with used towel and a dirty toilet. There were roaches and spiderwebs inside the rooms, especially upstairs rooms. The temperature regulation in the house was very bad as the bedrooms were freezing and the main room was hot. The main TV was not set up. The backyard porch was also dirty and stained chair pads and broken chairs. Only good about this place is as the wooded trees in backyard. I contacted the owner, he came with another person and he setup the TV and removed some leaves from the pool. Even after that, the house was not properly cleaned. The amount they charged for cleaning fee, there was no cleaning and services provided. Our overall stay experience with the house was not at all worth the amount of money they highly charged us. Felt so disappointed about this experience.

Secluded gem

This house is in an unusual place BUT don’t let that deter you. The house itself is wonderful. It had plenty of room for my four kids and all eight of my grandkids. We loved sitting around the pool in March and we even took a dip in the pool. We will definitely be going back for another fun family trip.

Great get away

Area was secluded which was nice. We used the pool everyday, it was very clean. At night when it got cold we used the large pit to light a fire on the back patio to stay warm. Used the basketball court daily as well for some competition. One of the basketball hoops is damaged so we just used the one. It looks like someone was dunking on it and damaged it in the past. Other than that, everything was great. We also used enjoyed the pool table the entire time we were all there.

Family Texas trip 2025

There were 8 of us that stayed and we found the roominess very comfortable. It was cold outside during our stay but the house was very warm. We thought we didn't have hot water in a few sinks but the plumbing was switched so ended up having plenty of hot water. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Fun & Private, Could use some Updates

The property was great as far as amenities, space, and privacy. It was just my partner and I but we would definitely love to go back with our family to enjoy all the outdoor activities together. The only things we felt could be better were cleanliness, updated fixtures, and properly connected tv/internet. For the most part everything was clean/organized, especially the pool which was great, but the floor could’ve been swept more, there was some crumbs in the microwave, and a couple of roaches around the house. The house as whole is very nice and lots of space, but there were some areas that could use renovating, like the flooring upstairs that had some heavy scratches or even some of the furniture could be updated due to some of the water and tear. Additionally, the secludedness of the house is great but because of it I think the pool and basketball area could benefit from additinal/brighter lights. Lastly, having tv’s equipped with streaming capabilities in almost every room was nice but none of them seemed to be connected to the internet or simply didn’t turn on. Ultimately, I made these notes because the total cost of the stay felt like these minor faults should have been addressed, but these faults did NOT prevent us from having a good time at the house, nor will it keep us from returning. We still enjoyed everything and look forward to our next stay at this house. Thank you :)
