8/10
First, I have a severe gluten allergy. We went to two different McMenamins this weekend, and thereās another one in my hometown. Each restaurant has at least a two page menu and each of them have exactly one gluten-free marked option on them. They have gluten-free burger buns, so I ordered a burger with no bun at all. Still got Glutened and sick on Friday night, before we ever made it to our destination where we were staying for the weekend. Still sick as we head home on Sunday. Second,
We went with another couple and would have liked to have adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom. They got the last one so we got a separate room, communal bathroom.
Turns out the 2 rooms with connected bathroom is what they had! They said there was nothing to indicate that on the reservation. The staff were really nice and comped them a night, and took $100 off of what we paid. But it couldāve gone so much more smoothly if it were clear at the outset that not only did they have two beds but they also had two rooms with the bathroom connecting them. We are doing the passport thing together, but it looks like Iāll have to pack my own food for the future visits. There are 28 locations. I think a company this big could do a better job of accommodating food allergies. Itās not like a food truck with limited options. Maybe their old kitchens are limited, but Iām still not looking forward to the future visits.
