I was in town for an event at the fairgrounds and found the Dickey House, which was cheaper than the main hotel in town. I was alone as my wife fell illThis was a nice place to stay, clean and as pictured. I didn't have much time to appreciate the property, but there was a binder with information about its history, as well as about local establishments. Getting to the Garden Suite involved a walk through the backyard garden, which was nice. The room has a big tub with jets. I didn't use that, but there is also a full bathroom with a shower. The only thing that was a bother is that the bathroom door is louvered, which doesn't offer much privacy or sound reduction (*ahem*) if you're not staying alone. This is a style choice; not a big deal in a single room, but not one I would choose. Any other complaints aren't within control of the owner but they were part of my stay so I'll share them: The TV turned on twice on its own. I think this is due to someone connecting with their phone, rather than anything spooky. I unplugged it after the 2nd time.Traffic in the area is loud. The locals seem to like open pipes at night. Train tracks run next to the property, close enough to vibrate the room. I only remember 1 train going by though, so no big deal. The best part was the mattress. I've never slept on such a comfortable mattress in a rented room before. Also, the property is convenient to local restaurants and a short drive to the fairgrounds.Overall, I would stay here again.
